Rozbor situace v zavádění FTTx doma a ve světě – jak dál?

V příspěvku jsou presentovány aktuální informace o budování a využívání optických přístupových sítí doma i v zahraničí. Důraz je kladen na ekonomické a politické aspekty tohoto procesu. Jsou popsány některé úspěšné domácí i zahraniční projekty realizace FTTx. Je učiněn pokus naznačit trendy rozvoje sítí založených na technologii FTTx. In the contribution, up-to-date information on implementation and utilization of optical fibre-based FTTx-type access networks in the Czech Republic and abroad is presented. Emphasis is placed on economical and political aspects of this process. Some successful FTTx projects realized at home and abroad are described. An attempt is made to outline the trends of development of FTTx-based access networks.

Blind source separation using fuzzy masking

Paper deals with separation of source signals from their mixtures without any information about mixing environment. This problem is known as blind source separation. We focus on improving a multichannel method called time-frequency binary masking. The proposed approach is based on using a fuzzy mask instead of a binary mask. We show that the separation performance increases by employing fuzzy mask. Moreover our method reduces musical noise introduced by binary masking. Práce se zabývá separací zdrojových signálů z jejich směsí bez znalostí o směšovacím prostředí. Skupina metod zabývající se tímto problémem je známa jako slepá separace signálů. V příspěvku se zaměřujeme na zlepšení vícekanálové metody časově frekvenčního binárního maskování. Zlepšení je založeno na použití vícestavové masky místo masky binární, což zlepšuje separační proces. Metoda částečně redukuje hudební šum způsobený nelineárními změnami ve spektru separovaného signálu způsobené binárním maskováním.

Can ASR be used for evaluating speech quality?

In the contribution several case studies are presented in which automatic speech recognition was tested as a means for evaluating of speech quality, either human or synthetic. Usually, speech quality is measured by subjective listening tests. Our aim is to investigate, whether these tests, which request considerable amount of human time and experience, could be replaced or supplemented by techniques based on ASR. V příspěvku jsou shrnuty úlohy, ve kterých bylo testováno použití automatického rozpoznávání řeči k hodnocení kvality řeči, a to jak přirozené, tak syntetické. Kvalita řeči je zpravidla měřena pomocí subjektivních poslechových testů. Naším cílem bylo zjištění, zda tyto testy, které jsou časově náročné a vyžadují zkušenosti, je možno nahradit nebo doplnit technikou založenou na automatickém rozpoznávání řeči.

Voice Conversion

Different techniques for voice conversion based on nonlinear spectral envelope warping are presented. They enable transformation of an utterance of a source speaker into the utterance of a target speaker. The voice conversion algorithm is based on spectral speech analysis, frequency transformation, spectrum envelope warping and high quality cepstral speech synthesis. The described voice conversion approach also considers the change of speech prosody. Jsou popsány různé metody konverse hlasu založené na nelineární transformaci spektrální obálky. Umožňují transformaci promluvy zdrojového mluvčího na promluvu cílového mluvčího. Algoritmus konverse hlasu je založen na spektrální analýze, kmitočtové transformaci, modifikaci spektrální obálky a na vysoce kvalitní kepstrální syntéze řeči. Popsaná konverse hlasu zahrnuje také změnu prosodie.

Evaluation of voice conversion in TTS system based on cepstral description

Voice conversion, i.e. modification of a speech signal to sound as if spoken by a different speaker, finds its use in speech synthesis with a new voice without necessity of a new database. It is very useful in special aids for blind and partially sighted people, e.g. Braille notetaker based on the Pocket PC. This paper evaluates voice conversion implemented in the Czech and Slovak text-to-speech (TTS) system based on cepstral description of speech database using the source-filter speech model. Změnu hlasu (tj. modifikaci řečového signálu tak, aby zněl jako od různých mluvčí), nachází uplatnění při syntéze řeči, neboť pro každý nový hlas není zapotřebí vytvářet novou databázi řečových jednotek. To je velmi užitečné v případě použití v speciálních pomůckách pro nevidomé a slabozraké např. v Brazilském zápisníku na platformě Pocket PC. Příspěvek se zabývá hodnocením implementované metody změny hlasu v česko-slovenském TTS systému s kepstrálním popisem řečové databáze a kepstrální syntézou řeči.

V rámci evropském projektu BReATH (BRoadband e-services and Access for The Home) byla provedena technicko-ekonomická analýza projektu širokopásmové přístupové sítě založené na technologii FTTx. S cílem zvýšit kapacitu již existující sítě TKR a umožnit poskytování služeb triple play a současně síť rozšířit tak, aby pokryla i oblast s novou výstavbou, byl vypracován projekt překryvné sítě typu FTTH a FTTB P2P a P2MP. Analyzovaný případ by mohl sloužit i jako inspirace pro řešení dalších podobných situací. In the framework of the European IST project BReATH (BRoadband e-services and Access for The Home) techno-economical analysis of a broadband access network employing FTTx architecture has been performed. The aim of the FTTx project is to enhance the existing CATV network enabling to provide triple play services and extend it to cover a new home development area. FTTH as well as FTTB and P2P/P2MP variations have been considered. The case study can serve as an inspiration for other similar cases.

Experimantally verified modelling of parametric amplification and wavelength conversion in optical fibres

We demonstrate parametric amplification of WDM signals and multiple wavelength conversion with gain based on four-photon parametric mixing in a highly nonlinear fibre (HNLF). Two pumps with a 100 GHz separation located in the region of anomalous dispersion of the HNLF are combined to form a beet signal. A high-power EDFA boosts the beet signal which is then combined with a signal wave by a directional coupler into the HNLF. V příspěvku jsou uvedeny výsledky zesilování WDM signálů a jejich vícenásobná konverze založená na čtyř-fotonovém parametrickém směšování v optickém vláknu s vysokou nelinearitou (HNLF). Dvě čerpací vlny vzdálené od sebe o 100GHz v oblasti anomální disperze jsou směšovány v HNLF. Po zesílení v EDFA jsou čerpací signály sloučeny s modulovaným signálem a navázány do HNLF.

V příspěvku je vysvětleno poslání evropského projektu BReATH (BRoadband e-services and Access for The Home) – a presentovány předběžné výsledky dosažené v rámci tohoto projektu. Dále jsou uvedeny informace o pokrocích ve vývoji technologií FTTx a jejich nasazování do přístupových sítí zejména v zemích Evropské unie. The mission and preliminary results achieved in the framework of the European FP6 IST Project BReATH (BRoadband e-services and Access for The Home) are presented. Advances in FTTx technologies and in their deployment in the access networks as presented in the “Europe at the Speed of Light 2006” Conference held in Vienna are described.

Overview of broadband development in Czech Republic

The main milestones in developing broadband in the Czech Republic are described and analysis of the relevant market no. 12 as performed by the Czech Telecommunication Office is commented. National broadband strategy is presented and funding of broadband projects are described. Up-to-date data on broadband penetration and on its availability across the country is given. Some consumer issues are discussed. V příspěvku jsou popsány mílníky ve vývoji broadbandu v České republice a průběh analýzy relevantního trhu č. 12 jak jí zpracovával Český telekomunikační úřad. Dále je popsána Národní politika pro vysokorychlostní přístup k Internetu a podpora realizace broadbandových projektů. Jsou uvedeny aktuální údaje o penetraci broadbandových přípojek v ČR a jejich dostupnost. Na závěr jsou diskutovány některé otázky rozvoje broadbandu v ČZ z pohledu spotřebitele.

Prosody modelling possibilities of the EPOS TTS using the MIBROLA interface

This paper deals with prosody modelling possibilities of the Epos Text-To Speech (TTS) sytem. The aim is to build the TTS system with an absolute duration modelling of the separate sounds and the possibility of using MBROLA compatible Czech voices. The Epos is a very flexible language independent TTS system. It can be widely configured without the need of recompilation. The use of editable rules for every step during the synthesis makes it easy to monitor the progress of the synthesis and to apply changes. Příspěvek se zabývá možnostmi modelování prosodie v TTS systému EPOS. Cílem je vytvořit TTS systém, který je schopný modelovat trvání jednotlivých hlásek a tím dosáhnout snadného využití MBROLA kompatibilních českých hlasů. Epos je jazykově nezávislý systém pro převod textu do řeči (Text-To-Speech). Může být konfigurován v širokých mezích bez nutnosti nové kompilace. Využitím editovatelných pravidel pro každý krok syntézy nabízí Epos možnost sledování celého procesu a snadný postup při aplikaci změn.
