Conducting Polymers. Formation, Structure, Properties, and Applications

Conducting polymers are studied because of their conductivity, as functional materials, and for their ability to respond to external stimuli. Polyaniline and polypyrrole are typical but by no means the only conducting polymers. They are investigated alone, or as components of compound materials. The synthesis of conducting polymers and the preparation of their composites, their structural characterization, their physical and chemical properties, and their applications both in well-established and new surprising directions are of interest. The conference booklet includes the abstracts of 7 invited plenary lectures, 45 contributed short lectures and 79 posters devoted to the chemistry, physics, and applied science of conducting polymers.

Ticks and tick-borne diseases in South Bohemia and Bavaria

The main aim of the project was to find out the space distribution of the infection-risk of two most important tick-borne diseases. It was shown, that there is an elevated risk of infection by tick-borne pathogens in both regions. The infection agent causing Lyme disease is almost ubiquitous, while the tick-borne encephalitis virus is focal in South Bohemia and highly focal in Bavaria. Hlavním cílem projektu bylo stanovení prostorové distribuce rizika infekce dvema nejvýznamnejšími klíštaty prenášenými onemocneními.Celkove bylo prokázáno, že obe území vykazují zvýšené riziko infekce klíštaty prenášenými patogeny. Puvodce lymeské boreliózy je prakticky všudyprítomný, výskyt viru klíštové encefalitidy je ohniskový v prípade Jihoceského kraje a velmi vysoce ohniskový v prípade Bavorska. / Das Projekt hatte die räumliche und zeitliche Untersuchung der Verteilung von Zecken und Zecken-übertragenen Infektionserregern (FSME-Virus und Borrelien) sowie die Abschätzung des Infektionsrisikos mit diesen Erregern einschließlich der Erstellung lokaler Risikokarten für ausgewählte Standorte zum Ziel. Es konnte bei diesem Projekt gezeigt werden, dass beide Untersuchungsgebiete verstärktes Risiko für Infektionen durch Zecken-übertragene Erreger zeigen.

V roce 2011 bylo registrováno 490 účastníků, odeznělo 141 přednášek ve 21 přednáškových sekcích a bylo vystaveno 172 posterů. Tato čísla zcela jasně naznačují, že Zoologické dny se staly největší pravidelnou konferencí se zoologickou tematikou minimálně v rámci České republiky a Slovenska. Přestože počet účastníků se od loňské konference v Praze příliš nelišil (pravděpodobně již bylo dosaženo jakéhosi "zoologického maxima"), tak se neustále zlepšuje kvalita prezentovaných příspěvků, a to jak po vědecké, tak i formální stránce. Studentské soutěže (podporované firmou Olympus, časopisem Živa a nakladatelstvím Academia) se účastnilo 59 přednášek a 91 posterů.
