The study deals with the fate of German Wehrmacht soldiers, who volunteered from the captivity for the Czechoslovak Army-in-exile during the Second World War. The fact that at the end of the war, every third soldier of the Czechoslovak units formed alongside the Allies in Great Britain was a former German soldier, did not respond to the propaganda-shaped image of the resistance in exile, and was therefore marginalised. Colour fates of the men in this group is documented by an example of four soldiers born in the then Slaný district between 1909–1921. Studie se zabývá osudy vojáků německé branné moci (Wehrmacht), kteří se stali dobrovolníky československé zahraniční armády v letech druhé světové války. Skutečnost, že na konci války měl každý třetí voják československého vojska na Západě za sebou kratší či delší službu v německé uniformě, neodpovídala propagandisticky utvářenému obrazu zahraničního odboje, a byla proto marginalizována. Barvitost osudů mužů z této skupiny je dokumentovány příkladem čtyř mužů, narozených v tehdejším okrese Slaný mezi roky 1909–1921.

Folklore in the Era of Socialism. Display Window of Official Culture or a Little Island of Freedom? Folklore Movement in Contemporary Historical Research and Oral Historical Studies

The folk movement has often been referred to as an official part of the "culture of socialism", alongside other sourcees of official culture, and as possibly an export item of Communist Czechoslovakia. On the other hand, the perspective of the actors has been neglected. The folklore "movement" in the context of the study of contemporary history and oral-historical studies is gradually looking for pioneers in oral history to investigate this phenomenon. Recently, projects and studies have emerged that turn to the actors themselves. Their views are beginning to disrupt the predominant view of folklore as monolithic organized folk entertainment. On the contrary, for some actors, active participation in the folk ensemble could represent an imaginary little island of freedom. The role of oral history is, in this respect, irreplaceable. Research needs to be undertaken by knowledgeable and ethical professionals. Particular consideration should be given to analyzing the position of insiders conducting research.

Příspěvek popisuje Slováky v českých zemích od vzniku Československa a jejich vztah ke slovenštině, který také z důvodů chápání příslušnosti k národu českkoslovenskému, složení sociálnímu postavení místních Slováků a jejich přijetí českého prostředí, nebyl vyhraněný. Po roce 1945 početné skupiny Slováků a navrátivších se slovenských krajanů rovněž slovenské školy nepožadovaly. Pouze v centru migrací ze Slovenska – v Karviné – vznikla v roce 1956 Základní škola. Další školy se slovenským vyučování v Praze, včetně osmiletého gymnázia, nenašly žáky. Zaniklo i nepovinné vyučování slovenštiny, které v devedesátých letech organizoval Klub slovenské kultury. Od roku 2004 Dokumentační středisko slovenské menšiny pořádá každým rokem mezinárodní konferenci slovenských středoškolíků a jejich hostů s tematikou Slovenska, jeho historie, kultury, reálií, osobností. Studenti přednášejí své práce ve slovenštině i v češtině. Setkávají se Slováci žijící v ČR, potomci Slováků v ČR, slovenští středoškoláci ze Slovenska. Přínosem je setkávání, poznávaní a znění originální slovenštiny.

The first Czechoslovak cooperative to immigrate to the Soviet Union for work was founded in 1923. In the context of the Czechoslovakian Relief Action, pro-Soviet agitation of Czechoslovak Communists and the Soviet internal policies the study considers the cooperative leaderships’ possibilities to fulfil the original contract in Soviet Georgia and to increase Czechoslovak export opportunities. První československé družstvo vzniklo za účelem vystěhování do Sovětského svazu za prací v roce 1923. Studie zvažuje v kontextu československé Ruské pomocné akce, prosovětské agitace československých komunistů a sovětské vnitřní politiky reálnost předpokladu vedení družstva, že v sovětské Gruzii dosáhne rozšíření československých exportních možností.

The methodology offers a comprehensive picture of a realization of an oral history project in the „intellectual elite“ environment, using the example of specialized research, academic or university institutes and research centers. The methodology also focuses on the possible use of oral history research in these areas as a tool for understanding past and present social phenomena, while highlighting the pitfalls that such research can bring. It covers the entire research process in the area, from the time of project assignment to the final outputs. Metodika přináší komplexní obraz realizace orálněhistorického projektu v prostředí „intelektuálních elit“, na příkladu specializovaných výzkumných, akademických či vysokoškolských ústavů a odborných/výzkumných pracovišť. Metodika se zaměřuje také na možné využití orálněhistorických výzkumů v uvedených oblastech pro poznání minulých i současných společenských jevů a zároveň upozorňuje na úskalí, která takový výzkum může přinést. Metodika postihuje celý výzkumný proces v dané oblasti, od okamžiku zadání až po finální výstupy.

The present study deals with intelligence and resistance activities of the Czechoslovak officer František Hieke and the Czechoslovak doctor of the Yugoslav origins Aleksandar Gjurić, who were operated in Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia, same as at the Yugoslav territory during WWII. The contribution is based on archival documents, as well as on the memoirs of some witnesses of these events. Předkládaný text se zabývá zpravodajskou a odbojovou činností československého důstojníka Františka Hiekeho a československého lékaře jugoslávského původu dr. Aleksandra Gjuriće, kteří za druhé světové války působili v Protektorátu Čechy a Morava a na jugoslávském území. Příspěvek nevychází jen z archivních pramenů, ale i ze zachovaných memoárových záznamů a vzpomínek svědků tehdejších událostí.

National Minorities and the Czech Border Regions in the Second Half of the 20th Centruy (the Example of the Former Vejprty District)

This study traces the development of the Czech border regions after the WWII. The author discusses the situation of national minorities in the border regions and the information on local industry held by the government and representatives of the Soviet Union. Using the specific example of the former Vejprty district, the author analyzes archive materials to demonstrate the processes of expulsion or migration of the national minorities and the settlement of formerly German border areas by new inhabitants. The paper also assesses the consequences of these events for the future social and economic development of this particular border region. Helena Nosková ve studii Národnostní menšiny a české pohraničí v druhé polovině 20. století (Na příkladu bývalého okresu Vejprty) vychází z archivních pramenů českých expertů uložených v ruských archivech, které dokumentují situaci v různých průmyslových odvětvích v českém pohraničí. Dle potřeb budoucího poválečného trhu sovětizovaných zemí Československo musí utlumit a podstatnou část svého lehkého průmyslu,který je situován v pohraničních regionech. V bývalém okrese Vejprty došlo po roce 1945 k odsunu Němců, likvidaci potravinářského a textilního prospěchu. Bývalý okres se měl stát územím pro těžbu uranu a do Vejprt bylo přesunuto německé obyvatelstvo z celého pohraničí pro těžbu uranu. Došlo k destabilizaci celého regionu, odlivu osídlenců vzhledem k nedostatku vhodných pracovních příležitostí. Vejprty jsou příkladem prozatím neprobádaných souvislostí, které po druhé světové válce přineslo vytváření státních hranic s uzavřením směremna západ, studená válka a vytváření nových sfér vlivu, včetně RVHP.

This study presents the media work of the Czech physicist František Běhounek, including his efforts to popularize science and his literary production. The study draws on Běhounek's written legacy, tracing his work in various scholarly institutions and assessing his efforts to present his work - including his communication with contemporary periodicals. The authors summarize Běhounek's science fiction for young readers. Příspěvek představuje mediální, vědecko-popularizační a beletristickou činnost českého fyzika, nestora československých jaderných oborů Františka Běhounka (1898-1973) v kontextu jeho vědeckých a vědecko-organizačních aktivit. Na konkrétním historickém příkladu je zde ilustrován význam médií a popularizace vědy jak pro vědu samu, tak pro popularitu osobnosti popularizátora, některá úskalí těchto popularizačních a mediální aktivit i možnost zpětného využití zanechaného literárního a dochovaného mediálního obrazu vědce jako historického pramene.

It also describes and compares the fortunes of the members of the International Brigades from a particular region. Příspěvek se věnuje otázce regionálního původu interbrigadistů, kteří během druhé světové války vstoupili do československých zahraničních jednotek. Dále popisuje osudy interbrigadistů z daného regionu jako srovnání různých životních poutí československých interbrigadistů.
