Application of floristic mapping results in the Elbe Sandstones 1991-2007

Floristic mapping of the Elbe Sandstones Protected Landscape Area (since 2000 including the Bohemian Switzerland National Park) proceeds since 1991, simultaneously with a similar project on the German side (in the Saxon Switzerland). The main contribution of this project consists in the methodical, scientific (e.g., new taxa in the territory of the Czech Republic) and applied level (e.g., basis for management and forest planning, designation of new protected areas). Floristické mapování CHLP Labské pískovce (od r. 2000 včetně Národního parku České Švýcarsko) probíhá od r. 1991, současně s obdobným projektem na německé straně v Saském Švýcarsku. Mezi hlavní využití výsledků floristického mapování náleží přínos (i) metodický, (ii) vědecký (např. nálezy významných druhů pro ČR), (iii) aplikační pro účely ochrany přírody (např. podklady pro zpracování LHP, plánů péče, vyhlašování chráněných území, apod.).

Monitoring of bloom forming cyanobacteria - the current expansion of invasive species in the Czech Republic

As part of the monitoring of water the flowers cyanobacteria, which carries out the Institute of Botany ASCR in the Czech Republic for more than 15 years of age, we observed in the recent years, an appreciable increase in the incidence cyanophytes Cylindrospermopsis raciborskii. V rámci monitoringu vodních květů sinic, který provádí Botanický ústav AVČR na území České republiky již více než 15let, jsme zaznamenali v posledních letech znatelný nárůst výskytu sinice Cylindrospermopsis raciborskii.

Distribution and expansion of planctic cyanobacteria in Czech Republic

Planktic cyanobacteria play important role in freshwater habitats in Czech Republic. They develop sometimes in massive water blooms, produce cyanotoxins and must be monitored from hydrobiological and sanitary point of views. Frequency of their occurrence and the species composition change in time and depend on managing of water ecosystems and on global changes of climate. The distribution and occurrence of various species in Czech Republic over last 60 years is reviewed. Planktonní sinice jsou důležitou složkou vodních ekosystémů v ČR. Často vytvářejí masivní "vodní květy", produkují cyanotoxiny a musí být sledovány jak z hydrobiologického tak hygienického důvodu. Frekvence a výskyt jednotlivých druhů se během doby mění a je závislá jednak na obhospodařovacím procesu vodních nádrží, ale také na globálních změnách v klimatu. V referátu je uveden přehled rozšíření a výskytu jednotlivých druhů v ČR během posledních 60ti let

Forest biodiversity of the Czech National Parks: How to fulfil the primary purpose of the NPs in the present situation

Biodiversity conservation is one of the primary purposes of the existence of the National Parks, following the IUCN criteria. Management of the Czech NPs faces two main challenges: changing concepts of protected areas and global climatic change. The former concerns an active management on the one hand, and designation of relatively large areas for the wilderness on the other hand. Both approaches must co-exist. The paper then summarizes common and distinct features of the biodiversity in the Czech NPs and stresses the international obligation to halt the biodiversity loss. Ochrana biodiverzity je podle kritérií IUCN jedním z primárních účelů existence národních parků. Management našich NP stojí aktuálně před dvěma hlavními výzvami: změnou pojetí chráněných území a globální klimatickou změnou. V prvním případě jde na jednu stranu o zavedení aktivního managementu, na druhou stranu o ponechání relativně velkých území samovolnému vývoji. Oba tyto přístupy musí koexistovat. Článek dále shrnuje společné i odlišné rysy biodiverzity našich NP a zdůrazňuje, že v kontextu mezinárodních závazků je zastavení úbytku biodiverzity nejdůležitějším tématem současnosti.
