Glass tessera from st. George´s convent at Prague castle

Our work concerns glass tessera from Virgin Mary/St. Anne chapel in the St. George’s convent on Prague Castle and represents continuation of our work from last years (com. Zeman et al. 2009). This work is focused on one blue tessera in detail. V klášteře sv. Jiří na Pražském hradě byl nalezen soubor 10 mozaikových kostek. Složení kostek bylo dosti neobvyklé na středoevropské poměry. Jednalo se o sodno-olovnaté sklo s příměsí antimonu. Proběhla rozsáhlá rešerše v Brilovy a Bezborodově databázi. Mezi cca 7000 analýzami se našlo pouze 15 podobných. Na základě výskytu fluoru v našem materiálu připouštíme možnost že tesery pocházejí z nepříliš vzdáleného století. Výzkum pokračuje. Brifag - the EU project on the bridge fatigue

The main objective of the project is to study the whole -fatigue life- of the test girder, from the initiation of the first fatigue crack to the complete fatigue failure of the whole girder. In so doing, the growth of all fatigue cracks generated in the breathing web is measured and their impact on the girder collapse mechanism studied. Some characteristic results are presented. Zkoušky modelů ortotropní mostovky při dynamickém zatížení. Sledoval se počet cyklů harmonického napětí a šíření únavových trhlin. Dynamic stability and post-critical processes of pendulum related auto-parametric systems

The existence and stability of the semi-trivial solution of the auto-parametric system is analyzed. Individual types of post-critical states are discussed (limit cycles, quasi-periodic response types, chaotic processes, transition processes). General considerations are demonstrated on particular DDOF and MDOF cases in both classes mentioned above. Sensitivity of several systems to stability loss with respect to their parameters, excitation amplitudes and other factors are evaluated. Bifurcation mechanism and diagrams are developed and analyzed. Important transition effects together with physical interpretation are investigated. Some open problems and possible future research strategy are outlined. Práce se věnuje studiu dynamické stability a postkritických vlastností nelineárních soustav popisujících kyvadla a podobné systémy. Popisuje různé typy odezvy v okolí rezonance, přechodové jevy a dalsí nelineární efekty. Characteristics of metakaoline modified mortars applied on historic objects

Samples of two lime-metakaoline plasters applied on historical walls in the Czech Republic a few years ago were investigated and analysed using optical and SE microscopy, EDS, XRD, and mercury porosimetry. Mechanical and other physical characteristics of small samples were also determined. Results and recommendation are presented in the paper. Vzorky dvou vápeno-metakaolinových omítek aplikovaných na historické objekty v ČR před několika lety byly laboratorně vyšetřeny s využitím optické a elektronové mikroskopie,EDS, XRD analýzy a rtuťové porozimetrie. Byly zjištěny také mechanické vlastnosti těchto malt. V příspěvku jsou uvedeny výsledky rozboru malt a doporučení pro zlepšení technologie přípravy těchto malt na stavbě. Rules of the game of the SBRA method and codes on structural reliability assessment

Already for twenty years deliberation has been focussed to the improvement and application of the probabilistic method known as SBRA (Simulation Based Reliability Assessment), based on development of the ever-increasing potential of computer technology. At present this progress in computer technology requires the formulation of “rules of the game“ for the SBRA method and guidelines which will serve as a draft for a new class of codes for the design of structures and for assessment of their reliability which will ensure safety, serviceability and durability. In the future, the SBRA method may also serve as a steering component in the so called integrated design. Již dvacet let je obrácena pozornost ke zdokonalení a aplikacím kvalitativně nové metody SBRA založené na stále rostoucím potenciálu výpočetní technologie. Loading of bridges and accumulation of fatigue damage

The article presents discussion and recommendation in connection with influence and evaluation methods of bridge loading events. Newly, according to Eurocode 3, two reliability concepts may be considered: damage tolerant concept and safe life concept. Fatigue life assessment may be based on fully probabilistic concept, too. The loading as well as response history should be taken into consideration and a fatigue criterion, based on the stress-range concept, should be applied. Crack grown may be modeled using LEFM procedures, initial crack size ai may be determined as input random variable with log-normal distribution. Příspěvek je zaměřen na diskuse a doporučení týkajících se metod posuzování mostních konstrukcí. V současnosti podle Eurokódu 3 mohou být uvažovány dvě koncepce. Posouzení mostních konstrukcí na únavu může být založeno též na plně pravděpodobnostní metodě, založené na rozkmitu napětí, případně na růstu trhlin modelovaných podle LEFM přičemž počáteční trhlina může být určena jako vstupní náhodná veličina s LOK-normálním rozdělením. This paper is intended to summarize application of the fully probabilistic Simulation-Based Reliability Assessment method (SBRA) on serviceability assessment in scope of proposed integrated system (SBRA guideline) of reliability assessment of structures. Also, the aim of this paper is to contribute to ongoing debate about probabilistic design and assessment of structures, and to its results integration into future fully probabilistic generation of design codes. Impact of chemical corrosion on mechanical characteristics of wood

The contribution is dedicated to the problem of chemical corrosion of surface layers of wood in buildings, caused by reaction of chemical substances contained in formerly used chemical anti-fire agents, applied by spraying or coating on wooden construction elements. Findings discovered during survey of buildings and laboratory methods (mechanical tests) of testing of impact of damage on mechanical characteristics of wood and wooden construction elements are presented in the poster. Příspěvek se zabývá problémem chemické koroze povrchových vrstev dřeva ve stavebních objektech, vyvolané reakcemi chemických látek, obsažených v dříve používaných chemických protipožárních prostředcích, aplikovaných postřikem nebo nátěrem na konstrukční dřevěné prvky. V posteru jsou prezentovány poznatky zjištěné při průzkumu staveb a laboratorní metody (mechanické zkoušky) testování vlivu poškození na mechanické vlastnosti dřeva a dřevěných konstrukčních prvků.
