Attitudes of Czechs towards U.S. Foreign Policy and Role of America in the World - November/December 2021

75% of Czechs against 15% think that the U.S. in their foreign policy prioritize their own power and economic interests, and 59% against 28% believe that U.S. do not take into consideration the opinion of the world community. According to 42% of Czech citizens the current foreign policy of the U.S. represents a threat to today’s world, while 40% have the opposite opinion. The opinion that in relation to undemocratic regimes the United States is entitled to use military force is shared by 24% of Czech citizens, whereas 64% oppose it. Ve svém pravidelném šetření realizovaném v listopadu a prosinci 2021 se Centrum pro výzkum veřejného mínění SOÚ AV ČR podrobněji zajímalo o názory české veřejnosti na americkou zahraniční politiku. Všem respondentům jsme předložili 6 výroků, s nimiž vyjadřovali míru svého souhlasu či nesouhlasu.

Linked Employer-employee on wages and parenthood: Good practices abroad and legal analysis of the situation in the Czech Republic

The publication focuses on the collection of data for the analysis of the influence of parenthood on the gender pay gap. The first part provides an overview of countries with good practice in the field of collecting linked employer-employee (LEE) indicating the parenthood status of individuals. The second part provides an analysis of the current legal conditions for the collection of LEE data on wages in the Czech Republic. It investigates the ways in which the LEE data could be enriched by the data indicating the parenthood status of individuals in the context of Czech legislation.\n Publikace se zaměřuje na problematiku sběru dat umožňujících analýzu genderových rozdílů ve mzdách podle rodičovství. Ve své první části přináší přehledové informace o zemích, které je možné označit za země s dobrou praxí v oblasti sledování údajů o rodičovství v kontextu tzv. linked employer-employee dat. Druhá část publikace je věnována právní analýze současných podmínek sběru mzdových a platových statistik v ČR. Soustřeďuje se především na právní aspekty, které jsou spojené se sběrem dat ISPV a jejich případným rozšířením o údaje týkající se rodičovství v kontextu české legislativy.

The report assesses the impact of socio-economic conditions on quality of life and health. It draws on both a sociological perspective and sociological indicators (i.e. subjective health, subjective quality of life) and a multidisciplinary perspective and biomedical indicators (i.e. biomarkers). The report documents in detail the differences in health by education and marital status, taking into account the work situation. Significant attention is paid to risk behaviours and sleep patterns. Zpráva vyhodnocuje vliv socioekonomických podmínek na kvalitu života a zdraví. Vychází přitom jak ze sociologické perspektivy a sociologických indikátorů (tj. subjektivní zdraví, subjektivní kvalita života), tak z multidisciplinární perspektivy a biomedicínských indikátorů (tj. biomarkery). Zpráva podrobně dokumentuje rozdíly ve zdraví podle vzdělání a rodinného stavu, zohledňuje i pracovní situaci. Významnou pozornost věnuje rizikovému chování a spánkovým režimům.

Attitudes of the Czech society towards an amendment of a law about Czech educational system, higher education fees and standardized secondary school graduation tests – September/November 2022

In the survey, which was conducted from the beginning of September to the beginning of November 2022, the CVVM asked a battery of questions examining the attitudes of Czech citizens towards the measures introduced by the amendment to the Czech Education Act. The measures approved by the amendment to the Czech Education Act relating to pre-school education are widely supported by the public. Less than three-fifths (58%) of respondents are against compulsory mathematics graduation, while more than one-third (35%) are in favour. The attitude of the Czech population towards the payment of tuition fees at public universities has long been negative (more than two-thirds are against) and has remained almost unchanged over time. Half (50%) of respondents are in favour of including children with special needs in mainstream primary schools, while more than two-fifths (44%) are against. Compared to 2020, the proportion of those in favour has increased by 9 percentage points, outweighing those against for the first time. V šetření, které bylo realizováno od začátku září do začátku listopadu 2022, položilo CVVM baterii otázek zkoumající postoje občanů České republiky k opatřením zavedeným novelou zákona o českém školství. Opatření schválených novelou zákona o českém školství týkající se předškolní výchovy se těší široké podpoře veřejnosti. Necelé tři pětiny (58 %) dotázaných jsou proti povinné maturitě z matematiky, pro je více než třetina (35 %). Postoj obyvatel České republiky k placení školného na veřejných vysokých školách je dlouhodobě negativní (více než dvě třetiny jsou proti) a v čase téměř neměnný. Polovina (50 %) dotázaných je pro začleňování dětí se speciálními potřebami do běžných základních škol, proti jsou více než dvě pětiny (44 %). V porovnání s rokem 2020 podíl souhlasících vzrostl o 9 procentních bodů a poprvé tak převážil nad těmi, kteří s tím nesouhlasí.

The November and December 2021 survey of the Public Opinion Research Centre included issues related to social policy. It surveyed citizens' views on that how much the individual areas of social policy are secured. At the same time the block of questions included an item, in which citizens had to comment the social policy as a whole. It also examined public preferences concerning allocation of public funds. V listopadu a v prosinci 2021 zařadilo CVVM do svého pravidelného šetření blok otázek týkajících se sociální politiky. V rámci tohoto bloku jsme se ptali na to, v jaké míře je podle občanů České republiky zajištěno sociální zabezpečení v jednotlivých oblastech i na hodnocení úrovně sociální politiky celkově. Zároveň jsme do výzkumu zařadili blok otázek zjišťující, v jakých oblastech by se měly navýšit či snížit finanční prostředky z veřejných zdrojů s cílem ukotvit oblast sociálních politik v rámci hodnocení výdajů státního rozpočtu. Naposledy byly stejné otázky položeny v prosinci 2019.

In November, the Public Opinion Research Center of the Academy of Sciences interviewed citizens of the Czech Republic on the topic of financial security in pension. Questions were focused not only on subjective concerns over lack of economic resources or trust in welfare state but also on actual preparations, namely investments and savings. V rámci svého pravidelného výzkumu realizovaného na přelomu listopadu a prosince 2021 CVVM SOÚ AV ČR dotazovalo občany České republiky na téma finančního zajištění ve stáří. Otázky byly zaměřeny nejen na subjektivní obavu z budoucího nedostatku ekonomických zdrojů či důvěru v zaopatření státem, ale také na faktickou přípravu v podobě investic a úspor.\n

In the spring of 2022 within the regular survey the Public Opinion Research Centre questioned respondents about their confidence in constitutional institutions. In this survey there was a question about their trust to the Chambers of Parliament, the President, the Government, and Local and Regional Councils. 38% of Czechs trust the president, 35% trust the government. V reprezentativním šetření CVVM SOÚ AV ČR byla v průběhu jarních měsíců 2022 vybraným občanům položena otázka, zda důvěřují základním ústavním institucím.Prezidentovi důvěřovalo 38 % Čechů, vládě 35 %.
