Twenty years of monitoring of the stability of the hazardous slopes of Krušné hory Mts. with precise tiltmeters
Chán, Bohumil
2003 - Czech
Twenty years ago the coal open pit mining in the North Bohemia under Krušné hory Mts. was started. To avoid possible accidents a complex system of monitoring in this area affected by mining was established. Keywords: coal mining; monitoring; The Ore Mountains Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Natural and artificial variations in the natality in Slovakia
Střeštík, Jaroslav; Mikulecký, M.; Žirko, M.
2003 - Czech
Daily numbers of births in Slovakia 1996-2001 were taken into calculations. In the annual variation a trough occurs from October to December, and short sharp minima during holidays. In the spectrum only annual and 7-day period supplemented by their higher harmonics can be found. No trace of lunar variation has been bound. Všechna data v této práci pocházejí ze Statistického úřadu Slovenské republiky. K dispozici máme denní počty narozených dětí na celém Slovensku v letech 1996 až 2001. Všechny zde nalezené variace kromě pravidelné roční vlny mají původ umělý, způsobený lidským faktorem. Nebyla nalezena žádná perioda odpovídající heliogefyzikálním jevům nebo související s polohou Měsíce. Keywords: natality; Slovakia; annual variations Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Analysis of the relation between geomagnetic activity and the phase of the North Atlantic Oscillation
Bochníček, Josef; Hejda, Pavel; Pýcha, Josef
2003 - Czech
The North Atlantic Oscillation is considered to be a very robust phenomenon. The analysis of tropospheric pressure and temperature deviations from their long-term averages realised on the data set of winter (January-March) periods 1963-2001, as well as wind deviations from their long-term averages pointed at close association between high geomagnetic activity and the positive NAO phase. Keywords: geomagnetic activity; North Atlantic Oscillation; troposphere Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Variability of daily average air temperatures during the observation in Prague-Klementinum
Střeštík, Jaroslav
2002 - Czech
Two quantities have been defined to describe the variability of average daily air temperatures with respect to the long-term annual course within a selected interval: low values mean that daily values do not differ substantially from the long-term annual course whereas high values indicate a big variability. These values were calculated for each year and each season from 1775 till 2000. Keywords: average air temperatures; variability; Prague-Klementinum Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Lengths of grapewine sprouts, air temperatures and heliogeophysical factors from the point of view of chronobiology
Střeštík, Jaroslav; Mikulecký, M.
2002 - Czech
Series of sunspot numbers, indices of geomagnetic activity, mean air temperature in April and grapewine lengths measured to the 24th April were processed by power spectra and mutual coherences. Whereas spectra of sunspot numbers exhibit a pronounced peak at 11 yr, in spectra of other quantities more significant peaks occur. Řady Wolfových čísel slunečních skvrn, indexů geomagnetické aktivity, průměrných dubnových teplot vzduchu a délek letorostů vinné révy k 24. dubnu byly zpracovány metodou výpočtu powerspekter a vzájemných koherencí. Zatímco u Wolfových čísel dalece převládá perioda kolem 11 let, u dalších veličin je celá řada významných vrcholů ve spektru. Keywords: sunspot numbers; geomagnetic activity; grapewine lengths Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Solar and geomagnetic activity effects on wind fields in the Northern hemisphere winter lower troposhere
Bochníček, Josef; Hejda, Pavel
2002 - Czech
The magnitude and prevailing direction of winds in the lower troposphere were analysed in the Northern hemisphere in the winter periods of the years 1964, 1967-1969, 1971-2001. Composite maps of those winds showed marked differences, in particular between the maps in which both activities were simultaneously low or high. Keywords: solar activity; geomagnetic activity; lower troposhere Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Precipitation totals and average flows in the river Vltava during two centuries
Střeštík, Jaroslav
2002 - Czech
Precipitation series exhibit neither apparent periodicity nor systematic long-term change. Precipitation totals increase a little in summer and decrease in winter. A big noise level supplements these changes. Annual and seasonal average flows in rivers exhibit no periodicity but a weak long-term increase is observed. Keywords: precipitation series; average flows; climatic change Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Magnetic susceptibility of peat-bogs as indicator of immissions in Czech and Polish parts of the Giant Mountains
Kapička, Aleš; Strzyszcz, Z.; Magiera, T.; Petrovský, Eduard
2001 - Czech
Recently, rapid and inexpensive (proxy) methods of outlining areas exposed to increased pollution by atmospheric particulates of industrial origin have been developed by scientists in various fields. One of them, soil magnetometry, seems to be a suitable tool, at least in some cases. This method is based on the knowledge that ferrimagnetic particles are deposited in top soil layers. Keywords: magnetic susceptibility; peat bogs; immissions; Giant Mountains Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Solar-geomagnetic activity and weather changes. Observation results
Bochníček, Josef; Hejda, Pavel; Pýcha, Josef
2001 - Czech
The impact of solar and geomagnetic activity on pressure and temperature changes in the winter lower troposphere was investigated. It was found that although correlations between solar and geomagnetic activity in individual winter periods are weak, the pressure and temperature changes show similar magnitudes. Keywords: solar-geomagnetic activity; weather changes; observation results Available at various institutes of the ASCR
