Pre-restoration materials research of the painting is based on microscopic (both optical and electron) analyses of grounds and painting layers in the cross-sections of fragments with the aim to identify pigments and to describe the stratigraphy of re-paints involving to choose the suitable restoration procedure. Other methods (e.g. infrared spectroscopy) are used for identification of binding media. Materiálový průzkum malby v rámci restaurátorského zásahu využívá zejména metod optické a elektronové mikroskopie a mikroanalýzy fragmentárních příčných řezů barevných vrstev k identifikaci pigmentů a popisu stratigrafie přemaleb, což přispívá ke správné volbě restaurátorského postupu. Další metody, zejména infračervená spektroskopie, jsou použity k identifikaci pojiv.

Comprehensive methodology for non-destructive microanalysis of colour layers and micro-traces

Comprehensive methodology for non-destructive forensic expert examinations of microscopic samples of colour layers (i.e. fragments of lacquer systems in a broad sense, and similar materials) has been created. This comprehensive methodology encompasses sample preparation as polished sections and microtome slices, and subsequent set of non-destructive analytical methods (based on SEM, EDS, XRD, FTIR, optical microscopy and pattern analysis), which lead to identification and comparison of materials in one sample (without its exhausting or irreversible modifications). Implementation of this system into forensic-technical expert casework allows realisation of some types of expert examinations and, first and foremost, maintaining probative value of the evidence (with respect to non-destructive microanalytical procedures), primarily in terms of explaining crimes of extreme gravity in the field of violent and organized crime. Byl vytvořen ucelený systém metodik pro nedestruktivní forenzní expertizy mikroskopických vzorků barevných vrstev - tj. fragmentů nátěrových systémů v širším pojetí a obdobných materiálů. Komplexní metodika zahrnuje přípravu vzorků ve formě nábrusů a mikrotomových řezů a následný soubor nestruktivních analytických metod (na bázi SEM, EDS, XRD, FTIR, optické mikroskopie, a obrazové analýzy) vedoucích k identifikaci a komparaci materiálů na jediném vzorku (bez jeho spotřebování, nebo ireverzibilních modifikací). Zavedení systému do kriminalisticko-technické expertizní praxe umožní realizaci některých typů expertiz a zejména zachování důkazní hodnoty stop (s ohledem na nedestruktivní mikroanalytické postupy), především v rámci řešení nejzávažnějších trestných činů v oblastech násilné trestné činnosti a organizovaného zločinu.
