Near-periodic texture synthesis

This paper describes two methods for seamless enlargement of difficult colour textures containing both regular periodic and stochastic components. Such textures cannot be modelled using neither simple tiling nor using purely stochastic models. The first novel method automatically recognizes and separates periodic and random texture components. Each of this components is subsequently modelled using the coresponding optimal method. Both independently enlarged texture components are combined in the resulting synthetic near regular texture. The second method detects two main direction of periodicity in regular periodic component and generates several double-toroidal tiles of the same general shape, which can seamlesly enlarge given near-periodic texture without visible regularity. Tento článek popisuje dvě metody pro syntézu složitých barevných textur obsahujících periodickou i stochastickou složku. Takové textury nelze modelovat buď jen jednoduchým dlaždicováním nebo čistě stochastickými modely. První nová metoda automaticky rozpoznává a odděluje periodickou a stochastickou složku textury. Každá z těchto komponent je následně modelována pomocí odpovídajících optimálních metod. Obě nezávisle syntetizované komponenty jsou zkombinovány, čímž vznikne výsledná syntetická periodicko-stochastická textura. Druhá metoda detekuje dva hlavní směry periodicity pravidelné periodické komponenty a generuje nekolik toroidních dlaždic stejného obecného tvaru. Pomocí těchto dlaždic lze generovat periodicko-stochastickou texturu bez viditelných rušivých pravidelností. Ačkoliv prezentované metody pro syntézu textur umožňují poze částečnou kompresi, jsou extrémně rychlé, a to díky completně oddělené fázi analýzy od fáze syntézy algoritmu.

Teaching system of applied statistics

A teaching system for study support of applied statistics presented by matematical text in a close connection with software realization of the results is presented. For cerating texts, the "pdf-version" of mathematical text editor is used. For software application, the interactive programming langeuge GNU Octave is exploited.Both the texts and programs are free, the subroutines used are open. V příspěvku je peprezentován výukový systém pro podporu výuky aplikované statistiky ve formě matematických textů provázaných s programovým zpracováním výsledků. Pro tvorbu matematických textů byl použit editor s výstupem ve formátu *.pdf. Programové řešení úloh je provedeno pomocí interaktivního programovacího jazyka GNU Octave. Texty i programy jsou volně dostupné a podprogramy navíc otevřené z hlediska jejich rozšiřování.

Divergence of proobabilty ditributions and statistical information

A recently established generalized Taylor formula is used to prove in a new much simpler manner the basic properties of f-divergences of probability measures. In a new simple way is proved also the relation of these divergences to the statistical information defined as a measure of decrease of the Bayes risk. Využívá se v předchozím výzkumu dokázaná zobecněná Taylorova formule pro nové mnohem jednodušší odvození základních vlastností f-divergencí pravděpodobnostních měr. Novým jednoduchým způsobem se dokazuje i vztah těchto divergencí ke statistické informaci definované jako míra poklesu Bayesova rizika.

Graphical user interface for filter design in frequency domain

The paper presents Matlab graphical user interface(GUI) for frequency domain design of filters and shows its application on a practical example of controller design for laboratory system with flexible arm. GUI helps to simplify the procedure of H_infty optimization based loopshaping controller design. This Metod is describe in detail e.g. in the book [Skogestad a Postlethwaite, 2005]. The method inputs are, besides the controller plant, so-called weighting filters, that represent control goals. Článek popisuje grafické uživatelské rozhraní Matlab, sloužící k pohodlnému návrhu frekvenčních filtrů. Přínos tohoto GUI spočívá v možnosti zadávat parametry váhových filtrů pro optimalizaci tvaru citlivostních funkcí zpětnovazebního systému založenou na minimalizaci jejich váhových H1 norem. Parametry vhodné pro tento případ se liší od specifikace běžně používané v oblasti zpracování signálů.

Testing hypothesis in general exponential models

The paper concerns the testing hypothesis about parameter in such families of stochastic processes that they have an exponential density with respect to a reference measure. We focus on divergence statistics, particularly so called Renyi statistics. There are examples of testing on the base of Renyi statics for some well known processes. Příspěvek se věnuje problému testování hypotéz o parametru v rodinách stochastických procesů, které lze popsat hustotou exponenciálního typu vzhledem k nějaké referenční míře. Zaměříme se na testové statistiky odvozené z informačních vzdáleností nazývaných Rényiho. Cílem příspěvku je především ilustrovat problematiku na příkladech známých procesů.

Teaching System for Study Support of Advanced Statistics

The paper describes the tproposed teaching system for advanced statstics for PhD. students of technical universities. There are several conditions on them: to use technical instrumentations, to present mathematical texts of high quality, to be easily available whencesoever and to use only free open software. The whole teaching system needs to be as simple as possible. It has to be well arranged and described with corresponding manual enclosed. Cílem tohoto příspěvku je popsat navržený výukový systém, a to konkrétně zaměřený na výuku aplikované matematické statistiky pro studenty doktorského studia na technicky zaměřené vysoké škole. Podmínkou při jeho tvorbě byla možnost využití výpočetní techniky, bez které praktické řešení některých úloh již v současné době nelze vůbec provést. Systém pro výuku vyšší statistiky proto musí být schopný předkládat matematické texty ve vysoké kvalitě, dále musí být volně dosažitelný téměř odkudkoliv a použitý software musí být volně dostupný, otevřený ve smyslu možnosti jeho rozšiřování, a to i vlastními uživateli. V neposlední řadě pak celé výukové prostředí musí být přehledné, co nejjednodušší, velmi dobře popsané, s návody pro jeho obsluhu.
