Predicting asp and pikeperch recruitment in a riverine redervoir.

Both species are piscivorous and are stocked into reservoirs for biomanipulative purposes to reduce planktivore species. Long-term data series were used, but the number of potential predictors was high. Therefore, a novel informative statistical approach based on dimension reduction methods was applied. Quality of outputs was driven by sampling methods. Main factors affecting asp recruitment were zooplankton abundance, predator density and temperature. In terms of pikeperch fry measured with seine and trawls, the number of predators was the only important factor. Gillnets underestimate small fish and the data were unsuitable for statistical modelling. (Arbo)viruses in high European Arctic

2016 - anglický Since an ongoing climate change covers strongly the polar areas. Higher temperatures and related climate parameters bring the emergence of new parasites and their pathogens to higher latitudes. This may influence zoonotic diseases including arthropod-transmitted diseases. The tick species Ixodes uriae, parasitizing seabirds in the Arctic, may transmit many pathogens including various arboviruses, Borrelia spirochetes and Babesia apicomplexans. In the study we diagnosed 89 individuals of seabird tick Ixodes uriae and searched for arthropod-borne viruses from the genera Flavivirus, Alphavirus, Orthobunyavirus, Phlebovirus and Orbivirus using genus-specific primers. Moreover we searched for presence of Borrelia spp. and Babesia spp. DNA in the ticks. All samples were negative after PCR amplification for all tested pathogens. The result signalizes that tested pathogens might not be present in such high latitudes of European Arctic. Though, the possibility of introduction of these pathogens may be observable in near future due to quick changing of the Arctic ecosystem with the rising of migration of vertebrate hosts including humans to the polar areas. It is though important to continue to study potential presence of pathogens in polar areas. We are working on increase of the number of tick samples to confirm the presence or absence of the tick-borne pathogens in the European Arctic. Demography and Dispersal Ability of a Threatened Saproxylic Beetle: A Mark- Recapture Study of the Rosalia Longicorn (Rosalia alpina)

Using the mark-recapture method we estimated the size of the population, adult longevity, and dispersal ability of the Rosalia longicorn on three hills in the Ralska Upland, Czech Republic. Furthermore, we assessed the distribution pattern of another 15 populations inhabiting small patches of old beech forest in this area. Factors affecting local survival and the species conservation are discussed. Assessment of phosphorus associated with Fe and Al (hydr)oxides in sediments and soils

The results were applied to modify the original fractionation scheme for better quantification of P associated with active Al and Fe (hydr)oxides, and better estimation of the amounts of these Fe and Al forms in soils and sediments. 2016 - český Předkládaná rigorózní práce se zabývá osobností Františka Jana Kroihera (1871-1948). Ve své době představoval velmi angažovanou postavu ve veřejném prostoru, jejíž činnost byla nesmírně rozsáhlá a sahala od drobné práce na venkově po styky s příslušníky nejvyšších církevních a politických kruhů. Jednotlivé kapitoly sledují postupně Kroiherovo dětství a studia, dráhu jihočeského kněze, zapojení do reformních snah českého duchovenstva, práci v družstevní a hospodářské sféře, kariéru politika v agrární straně a jeho rozsáhlou činnost publicistickou a mecenášskou. Závěrečné části patří zhodnocení Kroiherovy osobnosti, nechybí seznam použitých pramenů a literatury, seznam zkratek, jmenný rejstřík a přílohy. Rigorózní práce vznikla na základě prospekce množství archivního materiálu, dobových tiskovin a odborné literatury. The present rigorous thesis is about the personality of František Jan Kroiher (1871-1948). He represented a very engaged person in a public area. His activity was very extensive and intervened in minor works in the country up to the contacts with the highest clerical and political circles. Individual chapters are devoted Kroiher´s childhood and study, career of the priest in the South Bohemia, his taking part in the reform efforts of the Czech clergy, work in a cooperative and economic sphere, a politic career in Agrarian Party and his extensive journalistic activities and sponsorship. At the end there is evaluation of Kroiher´s personality, followed by the list of sources and bibliography, index of names, a list of abbreviations and supplements. The rigorous thesis was based on prospecting quantity of the archival documents, period newspapers and literature. 2016 - český Rigorózní práce Čtenářský deník a ICT tradiční výuková metoda v kontextu moderních technologií je rozdělena na dva oddíly. Teoretická část se nejprve zabývá základními principy uměleckého textu, jeho recepcí a motivací k četbě. Pozornost je dále věnována literární a čtenářské výchově ve škole, ale i v mimoškolním životě dítěte, a to i v tzv. předčtenářském období. Stěžejní oddíl je zaměřen na vliv moderních technologií na výuku literatury a problematiku čtenářských (kulturních) deníků. Výzkumná část obsahuje výsledky dvou dotazníkových šetření. První z nich bylo určeno pro učitele českého jazyka a literatury, kteří působí na druhém stupni základních škola a na nižším stupni gymnázií, a kladlo si za úkol zmapovat jejich přístup k zadávání, kontrole, hodnocení a dalšímu využití čtenářských deníků v hodinách literární výchovy. Druhý dotazník zjišťoval žákovský přístup k individuální mimočítankové četbě a využívání tzv. online literárních příruček. The thesis Reader´s diary and ICT a traditional teaching method in the context of modern technologies is divided into two parts. The theoretical part deals with general principles of literature, literature reception and reader´s motivation. The attention is also paid to literary and reader´s education of children at school and in their free-time, including so-called pre-reading period as well. The main focus is on the impact of modern technologies on teaching literature and the method of a reader´s diary. The exploratory part includes outcomes of two questionnaire-based researches. The first one was designed for Czech language and literature teachers at secondary and lower level grammar schools, and its aim was to describe their attitude towards assigning, checking, evaluation and further use of readers´ diaries in literature lessons. The second questionnaire was focused on the pupils´ attitude towards assigned reading in relation to so-called online literature guide-books. 2016 - český Cílem předkládaného souboru publikovaných článků je charakterizovat sociální dovednosti učitele jako součást jeho profesní kompetence a vymezit jejich význam ve výuce angličtiny komunikační metodou v edukačních interakcích ve školní třídě. Teoretickými východisky výzkumů jejichž výsledky jednotlivé články předkládají jsou funkčně komunikační přístupu k jazyku a z něj vycházející komunikační metoda. Pozornost je věnována procesům interakce, komunikace a cizojazyčnému diskurzu ve školním prostředí s akcentem na cizojazyčnou výuku dospívajících. Na základě specifik cizojazyčné edukační interakce konkretizujeme sociální dovednosti učitele a vymezujeme sociálně-dovednostní aspekty cizojazyčné edukační interakce. Zjištění výzkumů prezentovaných v předkládaných článcích se týkají zejména žákovské reflexe edukačního stylu učitelů angličtiny a edukačního působení učitele v konkrétní třídní interakci. Výzkum je rovněž zacílen na analýzu vybraných sociálně-dovednostních aspektů edukační interakce a diskurzu ve výuce angličtiny komunikační metodou. Konkrétně se jedná o žákovské a učitelské iniciace komunikace, otázky a distribuci komunikačních příležitostí. The aim of the collection of published articles is to define the requisite social skills of the English language teacher as a part of his/her professional competence, in the context of communicative language teaching in classroom interactions between English teachers and adolescent pupils. The theoretical preliminaries of the research whose findings are presented in the articles are the functional communicative approach to language and communicative language teaching. The attention is paid to the processes of interaction, communication and classroom discourse at school with an emphasis on foreign language teaching. We try to specify social skills of the English teacher and define social-skill aspects of foreign language educational interactions. The findings of the research presented in the articles concern mainly the educational style of English teachers and English teacher's behaviour in particular classroom interactions. The research is also focused on selected social-skill aspects of classroom discourse within communicative language teaching, specifically, pupils' and teachers' initiations of communication, questions, and the distribution of communication opportunities.
