We present experimental results on bidirectional transmission of (2x4) 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) channels over 210 km of standard single mode fibre (G3652 according to ITU specification). Inexpensive XENPAKs transceivers, conventional unidirectional erbium-doped fibre amplifiers (EDFA) and low noise EDFA preamplifiers Jsou prezentovány experimentální výsledky obousměrného přenosu osmi (2x4) 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GE) kanálů přes 210 km standardního jednovidového vlákna (G.652 dle ITU specifikace). Byly použity 10 GE vysílače/přijímače opnext DWDM XENPAK, běžné výkonové erbium-dopované zesilovače (EDFA) a nízkošumové EDFA předzesilovače.

V příspěvku je uvedena výroba mřížek s dlouhou periodou za různých podmínek s periodou 0,17 až 0,98mm do experimentálního nekomerčního optického vlákna pomocí CO.sub.2./sub. laserového paprsku. Je uvedena opakovatelnost procesu výroby mřížek s dlouhou periodou a experiment s vícenásobným zápisem. The inscription of LPGs with a period of 0.17 up to 0.98mm with a focused CO.sub.2./sub. laser beam into an experimental non-commercial optical fiber under a variety of conditions is reported. The reproducibility of the LPG’s inscription process and an experiment with multiple inscription of LPGs are presented.

FTTx networks in the Czech Republic and in the world – status and prospects

The fact that, apart from Japan and South Korea, also the biggest US operators have launched their FTTx projects, proves that the era of deploying optical fibres in the access networks has started in earnest. The authors of the paper, as part of their activities in the framework of the European IST project BReATH (BRoadband e-services and Access for The Home) have gathered up-to-date information on the status and prospects of development of FTTx networks in the Czech Republic and in the world. Skutečnost, že kromě Japonska a Jižní Korey rozjeli své projekty FTTx i největší telekomunikační operátoři v USA, potvrzuje, že již opravdu začala éra nástupu optiky do přístupových sítí. I v Evropě již byla realizována řada projektů, další jsou ve stadiu realizace. Autoři příspěvku v návaznosti na jejich aktivitu v FTTx Forum-czsk a v evropském projektu BReATH (BRoadband e-services and Access for The Home) shromáždili aktualizované údaje o stavu a perspektivách výstavby sítí FTTx v ČR a ve světě.

V anotaci článku jsou popsány experimenty se vzájemnou záměnou řečových stylů prováděné na promluvách generovaných TTS systémem se základní prozodií. Prototypy řečových stylů odvozené z pěti emocionálnách stavů byly získány z promluv se shodným informačním obsahem. Problém s rozdílnou délkou prototypu a cílové věty byl řešen s použitím lineárního mapování v časové oblasti. Výsledky byly hodnoceny pomocí poslechových testů promluv po provedené resyntéze. In this paper the experiments with the speaking styles transposition performed on the speech utterances produced by the TTS system with basic prosody are desribed. Speaking styles prototypes derived from five emotional states were obtained on the sentences with the same information content. The problem with different frame lenght between the prototype and the target utterance was solved by linear time scale mapping. The results were evluated by the listening tests of the resynthetised utterances.

Byla provedena úprava podmínek iontové výměny Ag.sup.+./sup./Na.sup.+./sup. za účelem snížení optických ztrát a úpravy n(x) profilu vytvořených vlnovodů. Pozitivní výsledky byly dosaženy při použití taveniny s nízkým obsahem Ag.sup.+./sup. iontů a následném vyžíhání vzorků. Modification of the Ag.sup.+./sup./Na.sup.+./sup. exchange conditions was done in order to decrease optical losses and to modify n(x) profile of the waveguides. This was achieved using reaction melt with decreased Ag.sup.+./sup. content and consequent annealing of the samples.

Musical noise reduction in time-frequency-binary-masking-based blind source separation systems

Slepá separace signál (BSS) je úloha zabývající se rekonstrukcí N signálů z M směsí. Rekonstrukce probíhá bez znalostí zdrojových signálů a okolního prostředí. V tomto článku jsme se zaměřili na zlepšení BSS metody nazývané časově-frekvenční binární maskování (TFBM). TFBM je universální přístup umožňující separaci zdrojů i v případě kdy N>M. Nevýhoda tohoto přístupu je degradace separovaného signálu hudebním šumem. Je popsána metoda, která redukuje hudební šum a zároveň zlepšuje kvalitu separace. Blind source separation (BSS) problem consists of estimating N sources from M mixtures without using source and mixing information. In the paper we focus on improving BSS method called time-frequency binary masking (TFBM). TFBM is a versatile approach due to its ability to separate sources even when N>M. The cost we pay for the versatility is the musical noise introduced to the separated signals by the binary masking. We introduce a method, which reduces musical noise and improves separation performance.

Biologické buňky obsahují polární makromolekuly a vyšší agregáty jako mikrotubuly. Při jejich mechanických kmitech vzniká elektromagnetické záření. Fröhlich navrhl kinetické rovnice pro obsazovací čísla vibračních vidů. Grafy signálových toků jsou použity pro reprezentaci kauzálních vztahů v tomto modelu. Analytické prostředky teorie grafů dovolují kvantitativní popis chování systému. Výsledky numerických simulací jsou interpretovány vzhledem k buněčné fyziologii. Living cells contain polar macromolecules and higher aggregates such as microtubules. These perform mechanic vibrations and emit electromagnetic radiation. Fröhlich proposed kinetic equations for occupancy numbers of vibration modes. Signal flow graphs are employed to represent causal relationships in the model. Analytical apparatus associated with the diagrams affords quantitative characterization of the system’s behaviour. Results of numerical simulations are interpreted with regard to cell physiology.

Effect of silicon nitride layers on the minority carrier diffusion length in c-Si wafers

The main purpose of this work was the comparison of the silicon nitride prepared by the LP CVD and by the MW PE CVD from silane and ammonia gases with respect to the possibility of passivation c-Si surface layer. The properties of the silicon nitride films were studied by the surface photovoltage (SPV), FTIR and SIMS methods. The average value of the diffusion length of minority carriers in the Si samples with the LP CVD nitride was shorter and dependent on the location in the reactor. Hlavním cílem práce bylo porovnání nitridu křemíku připraveného metodami LP CVD a MW PE CVD ze silanu a čpavku s ohledem na možnost pasivace c-Si povrchových vrstev. Vlastnosti vrstev nitridu křemíku byly studovány metodami SPV, FTIR a SIMS. Průměrná hodnota difuzní délky minoritních nosičů v Si vzorcích s LP CVD nitridem byla kratší a závisela na místě v reaktoru.

Comb filtering in speech enhancement

Improvement of the classical single-channel speech enhancement techniques by comb filtering is presented in this paper. The comb filter is adaptive based on estimated pitch frequency and is applied in the spectral domain. V článku je popsána zdokonalená metoda jednokanálového zvýrazňování řeči pomocí hřebenové filtrace. Hřebenový filtr je adaptivní s kmitočtem základního tónu řeči a je použit v kmitočtové oblasti.
