Analyses of baroque gypsum based plasters in the Czech Republic – mineralogy and microstructure

Set of ancient gypsum based plasters imitating marble stone in the Czech baroque churches and palaces was analysed for the purpose of the research and restoration of historic plasters. Raman spectrometry was used for identification pigments in gypsum plasters and SEM-EDX analysis for studying microstructure and chemical composition of plasters. Soubor deseti vzorků sádrových umělých mramorů odebraných z barokních kostelů a paláců v ČR byl analyzován Ramanovou spektrometrií pro určení obsažených pigmentů a analýzou SEM-EDX pro studium mikrostruktury a chemického složení materiálu. Zpráva obsahuje take výsledky termické analýzy materiálů.

Microscopical analyses of render´surface layers using optical microscopy and SEM-EDS. Statigraphy and elemental composition of the two newer surface layers applied on the core and stucco layers of the original rendering. The building was built in 1888 and reconstructed in 1996. Rozbor povrchové úpravy omítky pomocí optické mikroskopie a SEM-EDS. Prvkové složení dvou novějších krycích vrstev na jádrové a štukové vrstvě původní omítky.

Chemical and mineralogical analyses of plaster samples from State Castle Bečov

Using chemical and microscopic analysis, it was determined that the analyzed sample of bedding mortar from the 13th century (Czech castle Bečov) is the air lime mortar with the quartz and silicate sand enriched by some content of slag grains. The internal plaster from the same building period of the castle was made using the lime-earthen mortar with predominantly silicate sand. The plaster contained an admixture of wood or plant particles, sawdust has been identified.\n\n Pomocí chemické a mikroskopické analýzy bylo určeno, že analyzovaný vzorek malty z 13. stol. je vápenná malta s převážně křemenným a silikátovým pískem a vnitřní omítka z 13. stol. byla provedena z malty vápenohliněné s převážně silikátovým plnivem. Omítka obsahuje příměs dřevěných či rostlinných částic, byly identifikovány piliny. Malta obsahuje kousky strusky.

Recent archaeological findings discovered at an excavation in the southeastern section of the small courtyard of the old palace at the state castle in Telč sparked interest in further exploring hidden structures below ground and within the existing masonry. Therefore, a non-destructive survey of structures hidden beneath the current level of the courtyard using ground-penetrating radar was conducted, as was a survey of the masonry within the old walls of the palace using thermography. Nedávné archeologické nálezy zjištěné kopanou sondou v jihovýchodní části 'Malého dvorku'\nstarého paláce státního zámku Telč vyvolaly zájem o prozkoumání skrytých stavebních konstrukcí\npod terénem i ve stávajícím zdivu. Byl proto realizován nedestruktivní průzkum jednak stavebních konstrukcí skrytých pod současnou úrovní 'Malého dvorku' starého hradu v Telči pomocí zemního radaru, jednak průzkum charakteru zdiva stěn starého paláce pomocí termovize.

The report describes the current state of the damaged glass panels above the study room in the library of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The fractured glass panels are documented and a recommendation is given to minimize their future damage. Ve výzkumné zprávě je popsán současný stav poškození skleněných výplní stropu nad studovnou Knihovny AV ČR. Prasklé skleněné tabule jsou zdokumentovány a je navrženo opatření, které by mělo jejich budoucí porušení minimalizovat.

Dynamic loading test of footbridges in Písek

The report describes the procedure and results of the dynamic loading test carried out at unique pair of footbridges in Pisek. The determined modal properties of the real structures are compared with the results of the theoretical modal analysis of their numerical models. The levels of the vibrations of the decks originated from pedestrian and runners crossing are assessed with respect to their comfort and health. Zpráva popisuje postup provedení a výsledky dynamické zatěžovací zkoušky unikátní dvojice lávek pro pěší v Písku. Zjištěné modální vlastnosti skutečné konstrukcí jsou porovnány s výsledky teoretické modální analýzy jejich numerických modelů. Úroveň vibrací mostovek obou lávek od přechodů chodců a běžců je poté posouzena s ohledem na jejich pohodlí a zdraví.

The aim of the non-destructive survey was to determine the presence of building construction hidden under the contemporary floor, in particular assumed underground crypt. Cílem nedestruktivního průzkumu bylo zjistit přítomnost stavebních konstrukcí skrytých pod soudobou podlahou, zejména předpokládanou podzemní kryptu.

Report of characteristics of the brick sample from the façade of the apartment building

The report brings characteristics of the brick sampled from the brick façade of the apartment building in Prague 4. Porosity, saturated water content, water absorption behaviour, water soluble salts content were determined to characterize the brick and then the effectivity of the surface protective treatment applied on the brick façade was assessed. Vzorek fasádní cihly byl charakterizován po stránce pórovitosti, nasákavosti, mikrostruktury a obsahu vodorozpustných solí a byla posouzena současná technologie povrchové úpravy cihelné fasády.
