2010 - Czech This paper describes the use of molecular genetics diagnostics that over the past two decades has become an integral part of the diagnostic and therapeutic process of a wide range of human disorders, which until recently were only possible to name, describe their phenotypic characteristics and in a few cases by modification of lifestyle or diet to alleviate the rising symptoms. Článek popisuje diagnostické využití molekulární genetiky, která se v průběhu posledních dvou desetiletí stala nedílnou součástí diagnostického a léčebného procesu celé řady poruch člověka, které ještě nedávno bylo možné pouze pojmenovat, popsat jejich základní fenotypové znaky a v několika málo případech úpravou životního stylu či životosprávy zmírnit nastupující příznaky. Can Bacteria Compute?

2010 - Czech A computational system consisting of a multiset of identical embodied finite automata is designed. The automata control their body equipped by sensors for measuring threshold concentration (quorum sensing) of signal molecules and by mechanisms of molecular communication. We show that in a closed environment with a uniform distribution of signal molecules there is a system of embodied automata possessing universal computing power with a high probability. Navrhneme výpočetní systém, pozůstávající z (multi)množiny identických vtělených konečných automatů. Tyto automaty ovládají své "tělo", vybavené senzory pro zjišťování nadprahové koncentrace (quorum sensing) signálních molekul a mechanismy molekulární komunikace. Ukážeme, že pokud je takový systém umístněn v uzavřeném prostředí, ve kterém dochází k rovnoměrnému rozptýlení signálních molekul ve vysoké koncentraci, může tento systém s libovolně velkou pravděpodobností při vhodné konstrukci mít univerzální výpočetní sílu. Analysis of contingency tables

2010 - Czech The paper compares asymptotic, exact conditional and exact unconditional tests for the evaluation of contingency tables. Relationship of asymptotic methods with generalized linear models is studied. The work focuses on exact methods, which yield promising results in the analysis of data with small samples. Some of the methods are alternatively derived in the context of logistic and Poisson regression. Článek porovnává asymptotické, exaktní podmíněné a exaktní nepodmíněné testy hypotéz pro hodnocení kontingenčních tabulek. Studuje souvislosti asymptotických metod se zobecněnými lineárními modely. Důraz je kladen na exaktní testy, které jsou vhodné pro zpracování dat s malými rozsahy výběrů. Některé z metod jsou alternativně odvozeny v kontextu logistické a Poissonovy regrese.
