Němčice nad Hanou - new glassworking site of the Iron Age (La Tene period)

The earliest glassworking site in La Tene Europe at Němčice nad Hanou was making glass bracelets and beads already in the 3rd cent. B.C. The chemical composition of local products is similar to that of the so-called Celtic glass. V Němčicích nad Hanou pracovala nejstarší sklářská dílna v laténské Evropě,zhotovující již ve 3. stol. př. Kr. skleněné náramky a korálky téhož chemického složení jako tzv. keltské sklo.

Survey and Restoration of the Shrine Cross from Český Dub

Two-ply shrine cross founder 2003 in Český Dub is one of the most important find in last few years. The results of the research and restoration of the cross showed that the front side was made much earlier then reverse side and give us all necessary information for precision replica construction. Significance of this artefact supported a decision to treat it and create a copy of it. Therefore this unique relic can become part of our cultural heritage. K nejvýznamnějším archeologickým nálezům posledních let patří dvouramenný ostatkový kříž nalezený 2003 v Českém Dubu. Výsledky průzkumu a restaurování kříže poukazují na skutečnost, že čelní strana kříže byla zhotovena mnohem dříve než strana zadní a dále poskytují veškeré informace pro zhotovení přesné kopie. Význam památky přiměl odborné pracovníky zahrnout zhotovení kopie do restaurátorských prací, aby tato mimořádná památka mohla být součástí i dnešního života.

Copper Fragments Analysis of the Shrine Cross from Český Dub

Elektron microscopy has been applied to fragment fracture area of copper sheet remains cross from Český –Dub. Different level of degradation – serious corrosion damage of the cross front side and plate from revese side heve been proven.This fact leads to conclution that reverse side of the remains Gross have been made much later, probably dutiny cross restorationwhich is confirmed also by analysis of materiál composition of metal core from cross front side and well-preserved reverse side. Elektronová mikroskopie lomových ploch fragmentů měděného pláště ostatkového kříže z Českého Dubu prokázala velice rozdílný stupeň korozního poškození vzorků kovu z přední a zadní strany kříže.Tato skutečnost poukazuje na to, že zadní strana kříže byla zhotovena mnohem později, pravděpodobně při opravách kříže. To potvrzuje i rozdílné složení zbytků kovového jádra vzorků z přední a zadní strany kříže.

The paper concerns the conservation od the Early Medieval wood constructions discovered within the Prague castle during 1920s a 1930s. The area is situated in difficult climatic conditions, particularly regarding wood preservation. Příspěvek se týká konzervování dřevěných prvků zachycených při archeologickém výzkumu Pražského hradu ve 20. a 30. letech 20. stol. Areál je ve velmi nepříznivých klimatických podmínkách, zejména pro organický materiál. V minulosti byl nakonzervován fenolem.

The work describes the field situation, the bronze and stone artefacts and the anthropological material obtained from the Late Bronze Age settlement, explored in Tuchoměřice in 2005. A special attention is paid to the symptoms of disease on one of the investigated skeletons. Práce popisuje terénní situaci, bronzové a kamenné artefakty a získaný antropologický materiál ze sídliště mladší doby bronzové, zkoumaného v Tuchoměřicích v roce 2005. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována projevům nemoci na jedné ze zkoumaných koster.

Iron bloom from Žďár nad Sázavou in the light of questions of phosphoric iron in medieval cutlery

The examined bloom came from the North of Žďár nad Sázavou, formerly a 13th century medieval town abolished between 1262 and 1276. The bloom was uncovered in pit No.551 (pieces of slag and remnants of furnace were found besides the bloom) situated in the area with traces of metallurgical activities. Investigation of the object revealed that the bloom consisted of inhomogeneous phosphorus-rich metal which presumably was not intended for ordinary treatment. The bloom may be a result of unsuccessful smelting either a semiproduct of a material intended for special purposes. The phosphoric iron was used in production of luxury medieval knives for example. With regards to problems to evidence local luxury knife-making, the semiproducts with elevated phosphorus content could attest an appropriate background for a local luxury-knife production. Železná houba podrobená průzkumu pochází ze severního okraje Žďáru nad Sázavou, kde byla prokázána existence středověkého městečka, jež zaniklo mezi lety 1262 až 1276. Houba byla objevena v objektu č. 551 (společně s kusy strusky a zbytky pecí), který byl situován při okraji sídelního areálu v oblasti s doklady metalurgických aktivit. Houba sestává z nehomogenního fosforem bohatého železa/oceli, a pravděpodobně nebyla určena pro běžné zpracování. Houba může být jednak výsledkem nezdařené tavby, jednak polotovarem materiálu určeného pro zvláštní účely – fosforové železo bylo např. používáno při výrobě luxusních nožů. S ohledem na problémy s prokázáním výroby luxusních nožových čepelí na našem území, lze na polotovary s vysokým obsahem fosforu pohlížet jako na jeden z dokladů vhodného zázemí pro místní produkci honosných nožů. Bohužel, jestli žďárská houba byla skutečně svázána s poptávkou po fosforovém železe využívaným pro výrobu českých luxusních nožových čepelí není možné prokázat.

Conservation of Textile Fragment from Arcaeological Find of Child´s Grave in Brno

Conservation and separation of well-preserved decorative clothes elements of the child´s grave in Brno are describe in this contribution. First of all, X-ray analyse were carries out followed by microscopic and FTIR spectrometer analyse of all materiales. This archeological find contains spektrum of the decorative elements from rare materiále. That not very common in pasant milieu. Silk ribbons twiled on the plates and silk velur have the same structure which has been identified on the clothing of Margaret Frances Dietrichstein of Mikulov from the second decade of the 17th century. V příspěvku je presentována postupná separace a konzervace zachovalých výzdobných prvků textilu. Po základní rentgenové analýze byla provedena mikroskopická analýza všech materiálu, doplněná analýzami na FTIR spektrometru. Tento nevelký archeologický nález obsahuje velkou šíři ozdobných prvků a drahých materiálů, které nebyly běžné v selském prostředí. Zajímavá je vazebná totožnost hedvábné tkanice tkané na destičkách a hedváného sametu identifikovaného také na oděvu Markéty Františky Dietrichsteinové z Mikulova, z druhého desetiletí 17. století.
