SMV-2016-719: Detection and identification of sources of nanoparticles produced by military equipment
Večeřa, Zbyněk
2016 - Czech
In the study, which took place in a military training area "Vyškov" and simulators University of Defence, we monitored and identified the sources nanoparticles produced various kinds of military equipment. Preliminary results indicate that the source of nanoparticles are especially exhaust gases of engines powering military equipment and studied after shoot fumes. Potential impact of nanoparticles on the service staff of military equipment is currently being evaluated. Keywords: nanoparticles Available on request at various institutes of the ASCR

Testing of ”V3H14C” apparatus designed for 3H and 14C sampling from the air. The samples are captured into sorbents, silica gel for 3H (THO, T2O), and sodium hydroxide for 14C (14CO2) that are subsequently in laboratory analyzed for quantification of radioactive emissions of 3H and 14C from nuclear power plants e.g. Testování a vývoj zařízení řady ”V3H14C”, která jsou určena k odběru vzorků 3H a 14C ze vzduchu. SMV-2014-719: Measurement of nanoparticles in air
Mikuška, Pavel
2014 - Czech
The study focused on the impact of inhaled nanoparticles on the health status of basic and secondary school pupils based on the measurements of concentration and size distribution of nanoparticles in the air using an aerosol spectrometer SMPS. The nanoparticles were measured in two schools in two small towns and in three schools in Brno. Traffic intensity in near vicinity of schools and children's health asthma problems were investigated too. Keywords: nanoparticles, health effect, vehicle emission Available on request at various institutes of the ASCR

Zeman, T.; Dočekal, Bohumil; Mikuška, Pavel; Buchtová, Marcela; Míšek, Ivan; Šerý, Omar; Večeřa, Zbyněk
2014 - English
Results of the statistical analysis of a long-term inhalation experiment on laboratory mice are presented. During 17 weeks of the experiment, the experimental group was exposed to inhaled manganese oxides nanoparticles. Manganese oxides (MnO center dot Mn2O3) nanoparticles (MnONPs) were synthesized continuously via aerosol route in a hot wall tube flow reactor using a thermal decomposition of metal organic precursor manganese(II) acetylacetonate in the flow tube reactor (in vertical position) at temperature 750 degrees C in the presence of 30 vol% of oxygen. The concentration of produced MnONPs at the reactor output was in the range 1-3 x 10(7) particles/cm(3) and the size of generated nanoparticles MnO center dot Mn2O3 was in the range 7-50 nm. Before entering the inhalation chamber, MnONPs in the mixture of N-2, O-2 and air (at total flow rate of 3 L/min) were further diluted using filtrated humidified air (20 L/min) at temperature 21 degrees C resulting in the MnONPs concentration 2 x 10(6) particles/cm(3). At regular time intervals the mass of selected internal organs of mice from both experimental and control group was assessed. It has been proven that inhaled nanoparticles are able to influence the mass of internal organs of mice. Statistically significantly lower mass of kidneys, liver and spleen and higher mass of pancreas have been found in the experimental group compared to the control group. Keywords: inhaled nanoparticles; manganese oxides nanoparticles; changes in internal organ mass of mice; long-term inhalation experiment Available on request at various institutes of the ASCR
