Metabolic effects of long-term thiazolidinedione treatment in insulin resistance

2004 - English Cílem naší studie bylo testovat syntetické analogy koenzymu Q (CoQ) na aktivitu mitochondriální glycerol-3-fosfátdehydrogenázy. Použili jsme idebenon a jeho dva deriváty: methoxyidebenon a acetylidebenon a tři další látky, ve kterých alifatický řetězec CoQ byl nahrazen thiazoimidazolovými skupinami. Současné výsledky podporují naše předcházející závěry, které navrhly určité rozdíly v přenosu redukčních ekvivalentů na CoQ mezi mitochondriální glycerol-3-fosfátdehydrogenázou a dalšími dehydrogenázami respiračního řetězce The aim of our study was to test the synthetic analogues of coenzyme Q (CoQ) on the activity of mitochondrial glycerol-3-phosphate dehydrogenase. We used idebenone and its two derivatives: methoxyidebenone and acetylidebenone and three other componds in which aliphatic chain of CoQ was substituted by thiazoimidazol type groups. Benefits and problems of the use of alternative multimedia (AMM) for teaching biology of students at the Faculty of Pedagogy

2001 - Czech The paper reviews authors´ experience with the use of alternative multimedia (AMM) in teaching biology at the Faculty of Pedagogy, University of J.E. Purkinje in Usti nad Labem, Czech Republic. They include computer simulations, videtotapes , tissue cultures, protozoa and some invertebrates. Besides protection of animals, AMM enable us to demonstrate not available laboratory instruments, rare animals species in their habitats, etc. Some computer programs force students to a more active study of some topics of cell biology and physiology. The limitations in the use of AMM are discussed. Práce uvádí zkušenosti autorů a alternativními modely (AMM) ve výuce studentů biologie na PF UJEP v Ústí nad Labem. AMM jsou používány v 11 kurzech, týkajících se biologie buňky, anatomie, fyziologie a histologie živočichů. Hlavním přínosem je zvýšení etiky výuky, přizpůsobení se nové legislativě pro práci s laboratorními zvířaty a nebezpečnými chemickými látkami, ná hrada chybějících drahých laboratorních přístrojů pro sledování funkcí buněk, orgánů i celého živočišného organismu "v reálu" a možnost demonstrovat studentům u nás se nevyskytující živočišné druhy, jejich životní prostředí a funkčních projevy. Některé modely umožňují rovněž aktivnější zapojení studentů do praktického procvičování daných témat. Diskutovány jsou nedostatky a limity použití AMM.
