Syntactic priming of comprehension in Czech

An experiment investigated the influence of repeating grammatical structures on sentence processing, particularly on reading speed. Czech-speaking adults were examined. Zpráva o experimentu, který sledoval vliv opakování gramatických struktur ve větách na rychlost porozumění těmto větám. Studie zkoumala česky mluvící dospělé.

Professionals interested in the topic of human mind and working in different fields of science had the opportunity to meet at the “Cognition 2006” conference. Interdisciplinary understanding and openness of the language used was stressed in an interdisciplinary dialogue lead from the positions of psychology, philosophy, medical sciences, artificial intelligence, linguistics, cultural anthropology and other sciences. Konference Kognice 2006 nabídla setkání odborníků různých oborů se společným zájmem o problematiku lidské mysli. V mezioborovém dialogu, který byl veden z pozic psychologie, filozofie, lékařských věd, umělé inteligence, lingvistiky, kulturní antropologie a dalších oborů, byl kladen důraz na interdisciplinární porozumění a přístupnost použitého jazyka.

Researchers from the fields of psychology, philosophy, neuroscience, linguistics, biology and computer science discussed on the current state of the research on cognition. The conference Kognice 2006 offered the platform for the interdisciplinary dialogue and for learning about the very different approaches and languages which are linked by their curiosity on the nature of the human mind. Setkání odborníků z oblastí psychologie, filozofie, neurověd, lingvistiky, biologie a počítačové vědy vytvořilo fórum pro diskuzi o aktuálních otázkách výzkumu lidské kognice z různých názorových pozic. Konference Kognice 2006 nabídla příležitost k otevřenému a přátelskému mezioborovému dialogu a k seznámení se s přístupy, které i přes vzájemnou odlišnost spojuje snaha o poznání a porozumění mysli.

The VIII th “Social Processes and Personality” conference was devoted to the memory of Prof. Liduška Osecká, the eminent methodologist within the Czech and Slovak psychology and the former director (1993-1999) of the Institute of Psychology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, who would reached her 60th September 6, 2005. Within the traditional topic of the conference - basic and applied research in personality and social psychology - the conference’s main theme was the research methodology in psychology. Seventy-eight contributions (35 oral presentations and 43 posters) were presented at the conference, their substantial part is included in this conference anthology. V pořadí již osmý ročník konference „Sociální procesy a osobnost“ byl věnován památce Doc. PhDr. Lidušky Osecké, CSc., přední metodoložky české a slovenské psychologie a ředitelky Psychologického ústavu AV ČR v letech 1993 - 1999, která by se 6. září 2005 dožila šedesáti let. V rámci tradičního zaměření konference, jímž je základní i aplikovaný výzkum v oblasti psychologie osobnosti a sociální psychologie, byla proto hlavním tématem metodologie psychologického výzkumu. Na konferenci bylo odprezentováno 78 příspěvků (35 přednášek a 43 posterů), jejichž podstatná část je obsažena v předkládaném sborníku.

Masculinity and femininity in history of psychology

In historical psychological study the author deals with masculinity and femininity in history of psychology since ancient times, through middle ages and modern time till the present times. He analyses the gender of concepts like psyché, anima, eros, thanatos, life and death in the history of European philosophical and psychological thinking, including the differences among European languages. He presents the examples of pictures of men and women in teaching of psychologists, psychological schools, movements, and systems. V historicko-psychologickém příspěvku se autor zabývá maskulinitou a feminitou v dějinách psychologie od antiky, přes středověk a novověk až do současnosti. Analyzuje rodovost pojmů psyché, anima, eros, thanatos, život a smrt v dějinách evropského filosofického a psychologického myšlení, včetně rozdílů mezi evropskými jazyky. Uvádí příklady obrazů mužů a žen v učení psychologů a psycholožek, v psychologických školách, směrech a systémech.

Contemporary spiritual situation of men and women – empirical study

An investigation of spirituality was focused on students of Czech universities of different specializations. To this aim, an original questionnaire of spirituality (Říčan, Janošová) was constructed. Factor analysis indicated five independent factors that were labeled as factor of transcendental monotheism, mysticism, ecological, factor of connectedness and of moral enthusiasm. Analysis of variance indicated that men and women are spiritually affected with different subjects and their spiritual experience is determined with different contexts. Výzkum spirituality byl zaměřen na studenty českých vysokých škol různých oborů. Za tímto účelem byl vytvořen originální dotazník spirituality (Říčan, Janošová). Faktorová analýza naznačila přítomnost pěti nezávislých faktorů, jež byly označeny jako faktor transcendentálně monoteistický, mystický, eko-spirituální, faktor sounáležitosti a morálního entuziasmu. Analýza variance naznačila, že muži a ženy jsou spirituálně oslovováni odlišnými tématy a že jejich spirituální zkušenost je různě situačně determinována.

Eye movements in information acquisition – methodological view

Most information, which we use in our lives, was first acquired by vision. The vision is not a passive receptor simply registering the pieces of information in the environment, but it also involves a selection mechanism. We can investigate this process with eye trackers and estimate, which pieces of information the subject knew and which attracted him. This report introduces these methods and their possibilities in cognitive psychology. Většina informací, se kterými pracujeme, byla nejdříve získána zrakem. Je známo, že zrak není pasivní receptor, který zaznamenává vše v okolí, ale již při vnímání dochází k selekci informací. Současné metody sledování očních pohybů nám dovolují tyto procesy sledovat a odhadovat, které informace pozorovatel znal a které jej zaujaly. Příspěvek představuje možnosti využití těchto metod v kognitivní psychologii.

Specifity of the spirituality of men and womwn may be - from the standpoint of depth psychology - analyzed on the basis of archetypically anchored versions of mutual relationship as it appears, e.g., in the story of Amor and Psyche. The study analyses several such possibilities. Specifičnost ženské a mužské spirituality může být z hlediska hlubinné psychologie analyzována na základě archetypálně zakotvených variant vzájemného vztahu, jak se jeví například v příběhu Amora a Psyché. Referát analyzuje několik takových možností.
