Hanslian, David
2020 - Czech
The study updates the preceding analyses of wind energy potential of the Czech Republic published in 2008 and 2012. The assumptions for the estimation of the future possibilities of wind energy development were updated with respect to the current and currently assumed future technological and social development. The new findings on the feasibility of realization of wind turbines, operation issues and energy production were taken into account. Beyond the scope of previous studies, the broader context was discusses, considering various limits of wind energy utilization, such as permitting issues, climate impacts or grid integration. Studie navazuje na předchozí studie realizovatelného potenciálu větrné energie v České republice z let 2008 a 2012. Předpoklady pro odhad budoucích reálných možností větrné energie byly aktualizovány s ohledem na současný a nyní předpokládaný budoucí technologický a společenský vývoj. Dále byly zohledněny nové poznatky ohledně realizovatelnosti, provozu a výroby větrných elektráren. Nad rámec předchozích studií byly diskutovány širší souvislosti ohledně možností a limitů využití tohoto zdroje energie, zejména v oblasti vlivu na klima, integrace větrné energie do elektrické sítě či povolovacích procesů.\nUplatnění: Jedná se o klíčový podklad pro odhad budoucích možností využití větrné energie v České republice.\n

Short-term rainfall for hydrological modeling and design of small water management structures in the landscape
Kavka, P.; Müller, Miloslav; Strouhal, L.; Kašpar, Marek; Bližňák, Vojtěch; Landa, M.; Weyskrabová, L.; Pavel, M.; Dostál, T.
2018 - Czech
The aim of this methodology is to reduce the current knowledge deficit in the field of short-term rainfall variability and its application in hydrological modeling and design of small water structures and conservation measures within the catchment. The methodology defines six generalized short-term rainfall scenarios with specific temporal distribution of rainfall intensity. Next their variability related to their occurence frequency and spatial distribution accross Czech Republic is presented. These scenarios were derived from the 10-years time series of radar rainfall measurements adjusted with the daily totals from ground gauging network. Realizace těchto opatření je podporována řadou dotačních titulů (MZe, MŽP, AOPK, atp.) a lze tedy předpokládat široké uplatnění této metodiky v praxi.

Heat waves over Central Europe in ALADIN-Climate/CZ regional climate model: evaluation and future projections
Lhotka, Ondřej; Farda, A.; Kyselý, Jan
2015 - English
We evaluated a simulation of Central European heat waves and analysed possible changes of their characteristics in the future climate using the ALADIN-Climate/CZ regional climate model with 25km horizontal grid spacing. Lateral boundary conditions were provided by the ARPEGE global climate model, using historical forcing and the SRES A1B scenario. Observed data were taken from the E-OBS gridded data set. Heat waves were evaluated over 1970−1999 and changes in their characteristics were assessed for 2020−2049. Their definition is based on exceedance of the 90th percentile of summer daily maximum temperature calculated separately for modelled and observed data. ALADIN-Climate/CZ simulates characteristics for the recent climate quite well, especially the overall severity of heat waves. In contrast, temperature amplitude was considerably overestimated. This model projects an increase in overall heat wave severity by a factor of 2 to 3 in the future climate, primarily driven by an increasing number of events. The study shows that ALADIN-Climate/CZ is generally capable of simulating Central European heat waves, which gives more credibility to model projections of future heat waves.

Methods for estimation of extreme precipitation and their applications in the Czech Republic
Picek, J.; Kyselý, Jan; Gaál, Ladislav
2013 - Czech
The paper summarizes concepts and methods applied in estimation of probabilities of extreme precipitation amounts and design precipitation in the Czech Republic in the recent past. This work was motivated by the occurrence of several extraordinary precipitation events that resulted in floods with enormous material damages, but also by advances in the field of statistical modelling of extremes. The methods that we introduce are split in two main parts: methods for estimation of probable maximum precipitation and methods for estimation of design precipitation using different variants of the regional frequency analysis. In the concluding section several open issues and possible directions of follow-up research and improvements are outlined. Příspěvek shrnuje koncepce a metodické postupy, na jejichž základě byla řešena problematika odhadu pravděpodobnosti extrémních srážek a návrhových hodnot v ČR v nedávném období.

Multi-band Whistler-mode Chorus Emissions Observed by the Cluster Spacecraft
Macúšová, Eva; Santolík, Ondřej
2011 - English
Whistler-mode chorus emissions are one of the most significant mechanisms causing the acceleration of electrons in the outer Van Allen radiation belt to relativistic energies. They consist of individual wave packets divided into two frequency bands separated close to the source region by a gap at 1/2 of the electron cyclotron frequency (fce). This configuration is called banded chorus and it is correlated with magnetic activity. Landau damping is one of the possible explanations describing the existence of the gap. On the other hand, the role of ducts in its formation was also discussed. We present several events of chorus combined with noisy or shapeless chorus-like emissions that are arranged in three or more frequency bands with two or more gaps and are observed mostly in a magnetic latitude range from 3 to 10 degrees on the both sides of the equator. We investigate possible influences of the magnetic local time (MLT), the Kp index, the McIlwain parameter and the plasma density on the formation of these multi-band emissions.

Pollutant concentrtion in fog-water at Kopisty (1999 – 2004)
Fišák, Jaroslav; Chaloupecký, Pavel; Fottová, D.
2005 - Czech
In this contribution, results of our studies devoted to analyses of fog water samples collected at the meteorological observatory over the period of 1999 - 2004 are summarized. The study deals with the parameters: conductivity, acidity and following selected ions: NH4+, Na+, Ca2+, Mg2+, K+, F-, Cl-, NO3- and SO42-. Overall, the total concentration of selected ions was remarkably decreasing during the period 2000 - 2004. Specifically, we found out an increase in the cation fraction for NH4+ and Ca2+, and a decrease in the anion NO3- fraction in the mean annual sample.
