On the „our” Side again. Former Wehrmacht Soldiers as Soldiers of the Czechoslovak Army-in-Exile
Maršálek, Zdenko
2020 - Czech
Many Czechoslovak citizens forcibly serving with the Wehrmacht fell into captivity or fled directly to the Allies. Subsequently, many of them joined the Czechoslovak army-in-exile. After the war, however, the importance and specific numbers of these soldiers were purposefully marginalized. However, as the statistical processing of personal materials has shown, former Wehrmacht soldiers were one of the most important recruitment sources in units in both the East and the West. Mnozí českoslovenští občané, povolaní k službě v německé branné moci, upadli do zajetí či přímo přeběhli ke Spojencům. Následně řada z nich vstoupila do československé exilové armády.

The Founders of the Journal Český lid (The Czech Folk) and their German inspiration: Čeněk Zíbrt and Lubor Niederle in the Melting Pot of the emerging Science of Man, Social Sciences and the „Volkskunde”
Ducháček, Milan
2020 - Czech
The study deals with the German inspiration of Czech cultural historian Čeněk Zibrt and his colleague anthropologist/archaeologist Lubor Niederle, the founders of the ethnographical journal Český lid (The Czech Folk). The idea of launching the journal emerged in 1889 during their study stay in Munich. The central argument of the paper states that the contradiction between Riehl´s national-conservative and Virchow´s liberal conception of the study of Man in the hitherto closely interconnected field of ethnology/anthropology (in the framework of German „Volksforschung”) resulted during the 1890s into a wave of generational disputes and methodological diversification (or even schism) in German and consequently in Czech cultural sciences. One of the many impacts of it was also Niederle´s departure from the editorial of Český lid.

Consealed Soldiers. A National Story and Marginalization
Maršálek, Zdenko
2020 - Czech
Based on a brief description of the processes of creating collective memory, the author presents the phenomenon of creating the image of resistance during the Second World War. The fact that many citizens of the occupied countries served in the German Wehrmacht was purposefully marginalized in this picture, even though many of them entered the exile armies after their capture.

„To express the Czech National Political Opinion”. Establishment of the Czech National Council in 1968
Hoppe, Jiří
2019 - Czech
The author describes in the text the genesis of the Czech National Council, which was formed in connection with the transition to the federal structure of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. Its composition was strongly influenced by the Prague Spring 1968, and as a result, a specific political culture emerged, but it was not fully developed.

A genetic doubleness. The National Councils in the political system of Socialist Czechoslovakia
Gjuričová, Adéla
2019 - Czech
The article focuses on the National Councils in Czechoslovakia during the under-researched period of Socialist parliaments in the 1970 and 1980s. The author demonstrates their functions in the political system. She argues that they were expected to represent the Czech and Slovak "peoples" in the country's complicated representative structure, but their national(ist) trait was a part of the federalization of 1968 and "woke up" immediately after the Velvet Revolution. Článek sleduje národní rady v Československu v zatím nepříliš zkoumaném období socialistického parlamentarismu v 70. a 80. letech 20. století.

From the Regional Soviet to the National Parliament. Three Phases of the Transformation of the Czech National Council in 1989-1992
Zahradníček, Tomáš
2019 - Czech
The study looks at how the Czech Republic's authorities, and in particular the Czech National Council, gradually gained in importance and took over the role of the main political institutions in the last three years of the existence of the Czechoslovak Federation. Studie sleduje, jak orgány České republiky (a konkrétně Česká národní rada) postupně nabývaly na významu a přejímaly roli hlavních politických institucí v posledních třech letech existence československé federace.
