Scientific report. Large-area X-ray scan of a mosaic with high resolution

The aim of the research is to make an X-ray scan of a mosaic, which thanks to a high resolution could reveal structural details in the mosaik construction, as armature, cracks etc. The investigated object as a mosaic of St. Family from the Liberec region. The size of the mosaic is 1200 x 700 x 30 mm and its weight is about 50 kg. The mosaic itself is mounted into a metal frame. The substrate of the tesserae is a cement-based material. Účelem výzkumu je provést rentgenové scanování mozaiky, které by díky vysokému rozlišení mohlo odhalit strukturální detaily ve skladbě mozaiky, jako jsou výztuže, trhliny a podobně. Jedná se o mozaiku Sv. Rodiny, pocházející z oblasti Liberecka. Rozměry mozaiky jsou 1200 x 700 x 30 mm a hmotnost kolem 50 kg. Vlastní objekt mozaiky je zasazen do kovového rámu či objímky. Analysis of stabilization of masonry walls on the Štamberk castle ruins

Analysis involves study of typology of individual phases of medieval stone masonry, classification of its quality, description of its condition and identification of its damage and failures. It suggests safeguarding and protection of masonry ruins including their presentation. It presents results of basic material characterisation of lime mortars on the castle. Analýza zahrnuje studium typologie jednotlivých fází středověkého kamenného zdiva, klasifikaci jeho kvality, popis jeho stavu a identifikaci poruch. Zabývá se návrhem záchrany zděných torz, jejich ochrany a prezentace. Uvádí výsledky základního testování materiálových charakteristik vápenných malt užívaných na hradu. Survey of mortars of the Romanesque chapel in the tower of Landštejn Castle

Four samples of floor mortars and two samples of plasters were analysed as a part of the survey in the Romanesque chapel located in the tower at Landštejn Castle. The aim was to characterize used raw materials, determine their ratio, characterize the porosity of mortars and compare mortars sorted to different phases of construction. V rámci průzkumu byly odebrány čtyři vzorky malt z podlahy a dva vzorky z omítek v prostoru románské kaple nacházející se ve věži na hradě Landštejn. Cílem byla charakterizace použitých surovin, stanovení jejich poměru, charakterizace porozity malt a porovnání malt z jednotlivých stavebních fází. The aim of the measurement was to verify the feasibility of 3D computed tomography for observing structural details in samples of B4C - Ti ceramics with 1 % of Ti. Sample designated Sps_025: Keramika B4C + 1Ti, 1800°C, 2 min, in the form a cylinder with the diameter of 12 mm and the height of 10 mm was investigated by this method. Cílem práce bylo ověřit možnost pozorování stukturních detailů ve vzorcích B4C - Ti keramiky s 1 % titanu na základě 3D modelů z výpočetní tomografie. V laboratoři byl touto metodou zkoumán vzorek Sps_025: Keramika B4C + 1Ti, 1800°C, 2 min, ve tvaru válce o průměru 12 mm a výšce 10 mm. SEM-EDS characterization of building materials sampled from Slapy waterwork

Within the construction-technical survey framework, a microscopic analysis of historical concrete samples was performed using a scanning electron microscope and SEM-EDS analysis. Characterization of mortar components, determination of concrete degradation degree, and identification of chemical corrosion products. The results of the survey work were used as a basis for the reconstruction project. V rámci stavebně-technického průzkumu byl proveden mikroskopický rozbor vzorků historického betonu s využitím skenovacího elektronového mikroskopu a SEM‐EDS analýzy. Byla provedena charakterizace plniva a složek pojiva malt, určení stupně degradace betonu a identifikace produktů chemické koroze.
