We used a combination of quantitative and qualitative research to map individual areas of expatriate issues, critical needs, and fundamental problems of compatriots in the following countries: Great Britain, Australia, New Zealand, the USA, and Germany. We suggested their solutions and formulated conclusions and recommendations for creating the expatriate policy in these selected countries. Za kombinace kvantitativního a kvalitativního výzkumu byly zmapovány jednotlivé oblasti krajanské problematiky, klíčové potřeby a problémy krajanů a návrhy na jejich řešení v následujících zemích: Velká Británie, Austrálie, Nový Zéland, USA a Německo. Byly zformulovány závěry a doporučení pro tvorbu krajanské politiky v těchto zemích.

The design of the communication portal for compatriots also served as a research tool. The report discusses the form, arrangement, structure, functionalities, and content of the communication channel for compatriots. Návrh komunikačního portálu pro krajany posloužil zároveň jako výzkumný nástroj. Zpráva pojednává o formě, designu, struktuře, funkcionalitách a obsahu komunikačního kanálu pro krajany.

The report deals with the definition of individual terms (compatriot, exile, expat, diaspora...) and the creation of expatriate policy itself, how individual actors participate in it, including the mapping of expatriate initiatives, which connect and support expatriates through their activities through various organizations and their networks around the world. For comparison, we analyzed expatriate policies of several selected states, and we have formulated recommendations for specific areas of expatriate policy in the Czech Republic. Zpráva se zabývá vymezením jednotlivých pojmů (krajan, exulant, expat, diaspora…) a samotnou tvorbou krajanské politiky, jak se na ní podílejí jednotliví aktéři, včetně zmapování samotných krajanských iniciativ z opačného konce spektra, které svými aktivitami skrze různé organizace propojují a podporují krajany a jejich sítě po celém světě. Pro komparaci byly analyzovány krajanské politiky několika vybraných států a vypracována doporučení pro konkrétní oblasti krajanské politiky v ČR.

Agroforestry - potential for regional development and sustainable rural landscape

The aim is to evaluate the benefits and constraints of using agroforestry systems (AFS) in Czechia with a focus on the socio-economic, legal and environmental context. The project will evaluate planting of trees on arable land in areas affected by soil erosion and drought, and animal husbandry combined with tree components. Based on detailed literary review, socio-ethnological surveys, production and economic data gathered from farmers, the AFS benefits on the agricultural land will be fully evaluated. Furthermore, legislative constrainst and opportunities for tree growing on agricultural land will be analyzed. The final outputs will be the scientific publications and, in particular, the documents (methodologies) for the application and implementation of the agroforestry system in Czechia. Cílem projektu je posoudit přínosy, možnosti a bariéry uplatnění agrolesnických systémů (ALS) na území ČR s primárním zaměřením na socio-ekonomický, legislativní a environmentální kontext. Jedná se o hodnocení výsadby dřevin na orné půdě v oblastech postihovaných půdní erozí a suchem a dále chov zvířat v kombinací se stromovou složkou. Na základě podrobné literární rešerše, terénních socio-etnologických šetření a produkčně-ekonomických dat shromážděných od zemědělců budou komplexně hodnoceny přínosy ALS na zemědělské půdě. Analyzovány budou dále legislativní bariéry, příležitosti a podpory pěstování stromů na zemědělské půdě. Konečným výstupem projektu budou jak výsledky v podobě vědeckých publikací tak zejména podklady (metodiky) pro uplatnění a zavádění agrolesnických systému v ČR.

Analysis of migration of Czech citizens since 1989

Analysis of the migration behavior of Czech citizens after 1989 (emphasis on trends), and both people leaving permanently and seasonal migrants; disability differences from expatriates and exiles. Comparison with the policy towards this category of migrants in countries with similar populations (Slovakia, the Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden). Analysis of reasons for permanent settlement abroad. Forming their own communities new migration: USA, the development process from the earliest communities of illegal working communities through gradual rapprochement with the denizens communities; other communities: in Australia, New Zealand, France, Belgium, the Nordic countries of Europe. Return trendy. Objectives of the project: - obtain relevant data on new Czech communities abroad - recommendations for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic to create a functional relationship of the state to these communities. Analýza migračního chování českých občanů po roce 1989 (důraz na trendy), a to jak osob odcházejících natrvalo, tak sezónních migrantů; postižení odlišností od krajanů a exulantů. Srovnání s politikou vůči této kategorii migrantů u států s podobným počtem obyvatelstva (Slovensko, Nizozemí, Dánsko, Švédsko). Analýza důvodů trvalého usazovaní v zahraničí. Formování vlastních komunit nové migrace: USA, proces vývoje od počátečních komunit nelegálních pracovních komunit přes postupné sbližování s komunitami starousedlíků; další komunity: Austrálie, Nový Zéland, Francie, Belgie, Severské státy Evropy. Návratové trendy. Cíle projektu: získání relevantních údajů o nových českých komunitách v zahraničí; doporučení pro MZV k vytváření funkčního vztahu státu k těmto komunitám.

The publication is a result of the field enquiry of the selected public spaces in Prague including interviews with actors and expert interviews with architects and urban planners. The aim of the research has been to map out the actor´s behaviour in Prague public spaces and to explore their quality assessments. Publikace je výsledkem terénního šetření vybraných veřejných prostor na území hlavního města Prahy, rozhovorů s uživateli a experty z oblasti architektury a urbanismu. Cílem bylo zmapovat chování aktérů v pražských veřejných prostorech a jejich postoje k jejich kvalitě.
