Middle-level control of FB-MMC converter in Delta connection

Control of a modular multilevel converter (MMC) is technically far more complicated than control of a standard 2-level converter. It is not only because of a great number of series-connected cells. For a MMC converter we need to cope with another control level (mentioned here as the middle-level control), which means balancing of voltages among MMC branches and the control of currents circulating inside this converter. For the Delta connected MMC with full H–bridge (FH) cells a convenient method for voltage balancing among all three MMC branches has been analysed and the appropriate control structure has been designed. Then the functionality of this balancing method has been verified using computer simulations and also tested with two MMC physical models operating as active power filters on 400V and 6kV grids. Regulace modulárního vícehladinového měniče (Modular Multilevel Converter, MMC) je technicky podstatně komplikovanější, než měniče klasického, a to nejen kvůli velkému počtu jednotlivých buněk. Na rozdíl od klasického měniče se zde musíme zabývat další úrovní řízení, která představuje balancování napětí mezi větvemi měniče a řízení kruhových proudů uvnitř měniče. Ve zprávě je analyzována vhodná metoda a navržena regulační struktura pro balancování napětí mezi všemi třemi větvemi MMC v zapojení do trojúhelníku (Delta) s buňkami typu úplného můstku (Full H-bridge, FB). Následně byla ověřována činnost tohoto balancování pomocí počítačových simulací a praktických zkoušek na dvou fyzikálních modelech MMC pro sítě 400V a 6kV s implementovanou funkcí aktivního filtru.

This research report describes results of seismological monitorning in the Jeroným Mine near Čistá in 2023. Main results from monitoring of geotechnical parameters using distributed measurement system are briefly presented, namely stability of chamber K1 and movement of mine water level. Výzkumná zpráva popisuje výsledky seismologického monitoringu v Dole Jeroným v Čisté v roce 2023. Stručně jsou komentovány také hlavní výsledky monitorování geotechnických parametrů v podzemních prostorách pomocí distribuovaného měřicího systému, jmenovitě stabilita komory K1 a pohyb hladiny důlních vod.

Complex survey of the fish community of the Most Lake in 2023

The report summarizes the results of a comprehensive survey of the fish population of Lake Most in 2022. The goal of the ichthyological survey of the lake was to map the state and development of the fish population, with an emphasis on estimating the abundance and biomass of individual fish species, estimating the risks of further development of the fish population and recommending further management of the lake. A summary of the achieved results and a proposal for recommendations for further monitoring are the contents of the presented report. Zpráva shrnuje výsledky komplexního průzkumu rybí obsádky jezera Most v roce 2022. Cílem ichtyologického průzkumu jezera bylo zmapování stavu a vývoje rybí obsádky zejména s důrazem na odhad početnosti a biomasy jednotlivých druhů ryb, na odhad rizik dalšího vývoje rybí obsádky a doporučení dalšího obhospodařování jezera. Sumarizace dosažených výsledků a návrh doporučení pro další sledování jsou obsahem předkládané zprávy.

Social-ecological linkages in the practice of Czech development cooperation

The Western Province of Zambia is one of the priority regions for Czech development cooperation. However, until now there has been a lack of comprehensive socio-ecological research carried out in this region, which would enable the actors of the Czech development cooperation to better work with the complex socio-ecological context within their projects. The research synthesis report presents in one place a comprehensive summary of the methodological approaches used and the results of their application. In this respect, the research synthesis report presents a unique perspective on socio-ecological linkages in the Western Province of Zambia. The research synthesis report also contains a simplified project methodology so that it can be used by Czech development actors themselves for planning and implementing development projects, if applicable. The research synthesis report also includes a summary of the main implications of the Coop4Wellbeing research for development practice, as well as a set of recommendations for Czech development donors. Západní provincie Zambie je jedním z prioritních regionů české rozvojové spolupráce. Doposud však chyběl ucelený sociálně-ekologický výzkum zrealizovaný v této oblasti, který by umožnil aktérům české rozvojové spolupráce (ZRS) lépe pracovat s komplexními sociálně-ekologickými souvislostmi v rámci jejich projektů. Souhrnná výzkumná zpráva přináší na jednom místě ucelený souhrn použitých metodologických postupů a výsledků jejich aplikace. V tomto ohledu představuje souhrnná výzkumná zpráva unikátní pohled na sociálně-ekologické vazby v Západní provincii Zambie. Souhrnná výzkumná zpráva obsahuje také zjednodušenou metodologii projektu tak, aby mohla být v případě zájmu využita samotnými aktéry ZRS pro plánování a implementaci rozvojových projektů. Součástí souhrnné výzkumné zprávy je také shrnutí hlavních implikací výzkumu projektu Coop4Wellbeing pro rozvojovou praxi a také sada doporučení pro donory ZRS. \n

Optimization of inline coagulation in integrated membrane systems

The report summarizes the results of chemical coagulation and electrocoagulation optimisation tests as integrated membrane filtration methods. Optimization tests were performed with filtered water after alkalinisation using jar tests, based on which optimal reaction conditions such as the dose of the coagulation agent and the pH value were found. In addition to removing the non-coagulated portion of dissolved organic substances using electrocoagulation, the conditions for eliminating manganese were also tested. Zpráva shrnuje výsledky optimalizačních testů chemické koagulace a elektrokoagulace jako doprovodné metody k membránové filtraci. Optimalizační testy byly provedeny s filtrovanou vodou po alkalizaci pomocí koagulačních (sklenicových) zkoušek, na jejichž základě byly nalezeny optimální reakční podmínky (dávka koagulačního činidla a hodnota pH). Vedle odstraňování nezkoagulovaného podílu rozpuštěných organických látek pomocí elektrokoagulace byly testovány i podmínky eliminace manganu.

A significant part of the regular CVVM Our Society survey conducted in June and July 2023 was dedicated to the topic of homesteading and gardening.\n\nThese topics are part of the activities of the Institute of Sociology of the CAS within the framework of the AV21 Food for the Future Strategy.\n\nSpecifically, we investigated whether people engage in various activities related to subsistence farming, whether they produce their own food (fruits, vegetables, eggs, meat, etc.) and if so, where and why, whether people who grow or produce something in their households give these products to someone or exchange them with someone, or with how many people.\n\nWe were also interested in the other side of the story, i.e. whether people themselves receive home-grown or home-produced food from someone.\n\nLast but not least, we also looked at how bio-waste is managed and how the current food supply compares to ten years ago.\n\nAbout half (47%) of people grow their own food in their garden, 7% in their flat or on their balcony.\n\n\nThe most important reasons why people produce their own food are obtaining healthy food (25%), fresh food (24%), saving money (19%) and that it's a hobby (15%).\n\n\nMore than two thirds (69%) of people give or trade some of what they grow or produce in their household to someone.\nPeople are most likely to receive home-grown food from close family members (55%) and friends (50%).\n\n\nThe most common way of managing bio-waste is to use brown bins (57%), and almost half of people compost bio-waste in the garden (47%). Around a quarter of people who sort bio-waste in their household take it to a collection yard (26%) or give the sorted bio-waste to animals (25%). Less than a fifth use bulk containers (18%) or donate it to someone else (17%). The use of vermicomposters (5%) and community gardens (1%) is very marginal.\n\n\nHalf (49%) of people work in their garden on a regular basis, i.e. at least once a month during the season, a third (33%) go foraging for mushrooms, berries or herbs, and 12% keep domestic animals.\n\n\nMore than two-fifths (41%) of respondents believe that their household food supply has not changed between now and ten years ago. Velká část pravidelného výzkumu CVVM Naše společnost realizovaného v červnu a v červenci 2023 byla věnována tématu samozásobitelství a zahrádkaření. Šlo o otázky, jejichž zařazení je součástí aktivit Sociologického ústavu AV ČR v rámci Strategie AV21 Potraviny pro budoucnost.\n\nKonkrétně jsme zjišťovali, zda se lidé věnují různým činnostem souvisejícím se samozásobitelstvím, zda se věnují produkci vlastních potravin (ovoce, zelenina, vejce, maso, apod.) a pokud ano, tak kde a proč, zda lidé, kteří ve své domácnosti něco pěstují či vyrábějí, tak tyto produkty někomu darují nebo s někým vyměňují, případně s kolika lidmi. Zajímal nás i pohled z druhé strany, tedy zda sami lidé od někoho dostávají doma vyrobené či vypěstované potraviny. V neposlední řadě jsme se zaměřili i na způsob nakládání s bioodpadem a porovnání současného zásobování potravinami s dobou před deseti lety.\n\nNecelá polovina (47 %) lidí si pěstuje vlastní potraviny na zahrádce, 7 % v bytě nebo na balkóně.\nMezi nejdůležitější důvody, proč lidé produkují vlastní potraviny, patří získání zdravých potravin (25 %), čerstvých potravin (24 %), úspora peněz (19 %) a že je to koníček (15 %).\n\n\nVíce než dvě třetiny (69 %) lidí nějakou část z toho, co ve své domácnosti vypěstují nebo vyrobí, někomu darují nebo s někým vymění.\nLidé nejčastěji dostávají domácí potraviny od členů blízké rodiny (55 %) a od přátel (50 %).\n\n\nNejčastějším způsobem nakládání s bioodpadem je využívání hnědých popelnic (57 %), téměř polovina lidí kompostuje bioodpad na zahradě (47 %). Přibližně čtvrtina lidí, kteří bioodpad ve své domácnosti třídí, jej odevzdává ve sběrném dvoře (26 %) nebo vytříděný bioodpad dále využívá pro zvířata (25 %). Méně než pětina využívá velkoobjemové kontejnery (18 %)nebo jej daruje k využití někomu jinému (17 %). Velmi okrajové je využití vermikompostérů (5 %) a komunitních zahrad (1 %).\n\n\nPolovina (49 %) lidí v sezóně pravidelně, tj. alespoň jednou měsíčně, pracuje na zahradě nebo zahrádce, třetina (33 %) chodí sbírat houby, lesní plody nebo byliny a 12 % se věnuje chovu domácích užitkových zvířat.\n\n\nVíce než dvě pětiny (41 %) respondentů se domnívají, že zásobování jejich domácnosti potravinami se v současnosti a v době před deseti lety nezměnilo.

According to summer 2023 survey of the Public Opinion Research Centre 18% of citizens regard taxation on high-income earners as high, 29% say it is adequate and 43% think it is low.\n\nTaxation on average-income earners is considered to be high by 39% of respondents, adequate by 51% and low by 2% of citizens.\n\nTaxation on low-income earners was supposed to be high by 59%, adequate by 31% and low by 2%.\n\n59% of respondents think that tax rate should be higher for high-income earners than for low-income earners. Letní šetření CVVM se v krátkosti dotklo progresivního zdaňování příjmů a složitosti daňového systému. Zároveň zjišťovalo, co veřejnost soudí o výši daní, pokud jde o lidi s vysokými, s průměrnými a s nízkými příjmy.\n\nČeská veřejnost se spíše kloní k názoru, že daně lidí s vysokými příjmy u nás jsou nízké, u lidí s průměrnými příjmy jsou daně vnímány nejčastěji jako přiměřené a v případě lidí s nízkými příjmy převládá názor, že jejich daně jsou vysoké.\n\nNecelé tři pětiny (59 %) Čechů se vyslovují pro progresivní zdanění příjmů, respektive pro to, aby lidé s vyššími příjmy odváděli na daních vyšší procento ze svých příjmů než lidé s nižšími příjmy.\n\nNázory jak na progresivní zdanění, tak na hodnocení daní v souvislosti s výší příjmu jsou v posledních 10 letech poměrně stálé.\n\nZa pro sebe srozumitelný pokládají daňový systém dvě pětiny (38 %) české veřejnosti. Zde oproti minulému šetření z roku 2019 došlo k výraznému nárůstu o 12 procentních bodů.

Public Opinion on Performance of President Petr Pavel - June/July 2023

In its regular survey in June and July 2023 the Public Opinion Research Centre focused on questions concerning the Petr Pavel's presidency.\n\nIn all areas examined, positive evaluations prevailed over critical ones.\n\nRelatively most favorably, the Czech public rated how the president takes care of the seriousness and dignity of his office (78%) and how he represents the Czech Republic abroad (76%).\n\nCzech citizens were the most critical of how the president influences the internal politics (30%) and how he is in contact with citizens and knows their problems (29%).\n\nCompared to his predecessors Václav Havel, Václav Klaus and Miloš Zeman the current assessment of president Petr Pavel is relatively good, as a better evaluation of any of examined aspects of presidential performance was just rarely seen. V šetření realizovaném v červnu a v červenci 2023 se Centrum pro výzkum veřejného mínění SOU AV ČR, v.v.i., zaměřilo na hodnocení působení Petra Pavla v prezidentském úřadě podle šesti vybraných kritérií.\n\nU prezidenta České republiky Petra Pavla ve všech zkoumaných oblastech převažovalo pozitivní hodnocení nad kritickým.\n\nRelativně nejpříznivěji česká veřejnost hodnotila, jak dbá o vážnost a důstojnost úřadu (78 %) a jak reprezentuje ČR v zahraničí (76 %).\n\nNejvíce kritičtí byli čeští občané k tomu, jak nový prezident ovlivňuje vnitropolitický život (30 %) a jak je v kontaktu a občany a zná jejich problémy (29 %).\n\nV porovnání s předchozími prezidenty vyznívá hodnocení dosavadního působení Petra Pavla poměrně příznivě, když lepší hodnocení u jednotlivých položek se u kteréhokoli z jeho předchůdců objevovalo jen zřídka.
