A Contrastive Analysis of the Czech Aspect As a Lexico-Grammatical Category (in English) II.

2008 - English The bachelor work deals with the contrastive analysis of Czech and English verbal aspect. Verbal aspect is grammaticalized in Czech, it is perceived as a morphologico-lexical device of verb. This verbal category is not grammaticalized in English, in spite of this fact there are rich devices to distinguish finished verbal action (perfective verbs) from the unfinished one (imperfective verbs). The analysis of meanings of ten Czech aspectual prefixes was made and then the database of English equivalent devices was created by using of several English-Czech dictionaries. Bakalářská práce se zabývá kontrastivní analýzou českého a anglického slovesného vidu. Slovesný vid je v českém jazyce gramatikalizován, je chápán jako morfologicko-lexikální prostředek slovesa. Anglický jazyk tuto slovesnou kategorii negramatikalizuje, přesto má bohaté jazykové prostředky k tomu aby rozlišil ukončený (dokonavý) od neukončeného (nedokonavý) slovesného děje. Byl proveden významový rozbor deseti českých vidových předpon a následně byla s pomocí spolupráce několika anglicko-českých slovníků vytvořena databáze ekvivalentních jazykových prostředků v angličtině. 2008 - English This thesis is focused on the characterization of the film and television directing style of Vladimír Morávek and it is based on the detailed analysis of all of his motion pictures. Although the main field of this study is the way how Morávek creates his extraordinary films, the thesis starts with short introduction of his stage production, because all films have a lot of in common with his theatre performances. Autorka se v diplomové práci zabývá analýzou režijního stylu filmových a televizních děl Vladimíra Morávka, který je v povědomí veřejnosti zapsán v první řadě jako divadelní režisér, jenž se vydal na filmovou dráhu. Souhrn méně známých a dosud spíše opomíjených televizních filmů a pořadů Vladimíra Morávka slouží spolu s rozborem obou jeho celovečerních snímků k definici autorova osobitého režijního rukopisu, pro který je charakteristická především formální a obsahová souvztažnost s paralelní divadelní produkcí. The Usage of Drama Activities in the Lessons of English

2008 - English This thesis focuses on using drama activities in the lessons of English language at basic school ( in the sixth and the eighth class ). The aim of the thesis is to evaluate the effectiveness of drama activities used in English lessons in which children are motivated and at the same time they practise English language. The theoretical part deals with motivation in the lessons and provides the explanation of English words ``drama and drama activities``. It points out how drama activities can be used when learning grammar and vocabulary and developing listening and speaking. One chapter deals with classroom management like spatial organisation, the arrangement of furniture, temperature, light and decoration but also with the classroom dynamics. The practical part provides descriptions of three lessons with drama activities that were taught by the author of this thesis. The detailed lesson plans are included in the attachment. These drama activities are based on the fairy-tale in the sixth grade and on the role-play in the eighth grade. They were chosen in order to practise vocabulary and grammar which are included in the pupils´ textbooks. The pupils evaluated the activities in the form of questionnaire. Tato závěrečná práce je zaměřena na využití dramatických aktivit v hodinách angličtiny v šestém a osmém ročníku základní školy. Teoretická část se zabývá především motivací žáků ve výuce cizích jazyků a vysvětlením pojmů {\clqq}drama a dramatické aktivity.`` Dále se zde zdůrazňuje důležitost propojení dramatických aktivit, jako jsou například hry a rozhovory ve dvojicích či skupinách, s výukou gramatiky, poslechu, mluvení a slovní zásoby a jejich vliv na žáky. Praktická část se zaměřuje na aplikaci dramatických aktivit v hodinách angličtiny na základě učebnic dle jednotlivých ročníků. Tyto aktivity jsou založeny na pohádce a na tzv. role-play a vychází z gramatiky a slovní zásoby aktuálně probírané lekce v učebnici. Velký důraz se zde klade na rozvíjení poslechu a schopnosti komunikovat. V obou ročnících se jedná o opakovací hodinu. V šestém ročníku je tato hodina založena na pohádce; v osmém potom na reálné situaci ze života. V těchto hodinách si žáci především upevňují své poznatky, které získali z předchozích lekcí angličtiny. Během dramatických aktivit se poté zjišťuje, jak si žáci osvojili nové schopnosti a dovednosti. Jedním z cílů této práce je seznámit žáky s dramatickými aktivitami v hodinách angličtiny a ukázat jim zábavnou formu výuku cizího jazyka a také následné zjištění jejich dovedností. Birmingham-accent speakers' awareness of the differences between their pronunciation and the standard English ( A Research Proposal)

2009 - English This thesis is intended to serve as a pilot study for further research. The work is concerned with the hypothesis about the English speakers? awareness of differences between their native accent and standard pronunciation (RP). The Birmingham accent was taken as an illustration to prove this hypothesis. The work is divided into two main parts: theoretical and practical. The theoretical part describes different geographical and sociolinguistic factors influencing the individual?s accent performance, summarize and compare the methods and surveys conducted by other linguists and provide the description of the characteristic features of Birmingham dialect. The practical part is based on recordings of Birmingham-native speakers and deals with the actual differences between the accent and RP and suggests proposals for the future research. Táto práca slúži ako pilotná štúdia pre ďalší výskum. Vychádza z hypotézy o uvedomelosti rodených Angličanov o rozdieloch vo výslovnosti medzi ich rodeným prízvukom a štandardnou anglickou výslovnosťou. Ako podklad pre tento výskum slúžil akcent charakteristický pre mesto Birmingham. Práca je rozdelená na dve hlavné časti: teoretickú a praktickú. Teoretická časť popisuje rôzne geografické a sociolinguistické faktory ovplyvňujúce celkovú podobu akcentu u každého jednotlivca, sumarizuje a porovnáva metódy a výskumy iných linguistov a popisuje charakteristické črty birminghamského akcentu. Praktická časť je založená na nahrávkach, ktorých všetci účastníci sú pôvodom z Birminghamu a zaoberá sa rozdielmi medzi ich akcentom a štandardnou anglickou výslovnosťou ako aj návrhmi pre budúci výskum.
