Application of Environmental Scanning Electron Microscopy (ESEM) in the field of miniatures´ analysis: methodology for specific use in miniature painting research
Hradil, David; Hradilová, J.; Neděla, Vilém; Tihlaříková, Eva
2022 - Czech
The methodology deals with a completely new, unused procedure of non-invasive analysis of painted portrait miniatures, namely an environmental scanning electron microscope with energy-dispersive X-rays. spectrometer(EREM-EDS). EREM, unlike the conventional scanning electron microscope (REM), allows the analysis of ivory painting, which is not possible in a vacuum or low gas pressure environment, where there is a risk of deformation and damagedue to drying of this biological material. The methodology is divided into two parts - the first describes the study of morphological details at high magnification (eg. the possibility of distinguishing different types of biological substrates), the second is the implementation of elemental analysis in high spatial resolution. Metodika se zabývá zcela novým, nepoužívaným postupem neinvazivní analýzy malovaných portrétních miniatur, a to environmentálním rastrovacím elektronovým mikroskopem s energiově-disperzním rtg. spektrometrem (EREM-EDS). EREM na rozdíl od klasického rastrovacího elektronového mikroskopu (REM) umožňuje analyzovat malbu na slonovině, což není možné v prostředí vakua nebo nízkých tlaků plynů, kde hrozí riziko deformací a poškození vlivem vysoušení tohoto biologického materiálu. Metodika je rozdělená na dvě části – první popisuje studium morfologických detailů při velkém zvětšení (např. možnost rozlišení různých druhů biologických podložek), druhá pak provedení prvkové analýzy ve vysokém prostorovém rozlišení. Keywords: environmental scanning electron microscopy; non-invasive analysis; portrait miniature; EDS analysis; ivory Available at various institutes of the ASCR

Electrochemical Techniques in Monitoring of Nervous System Drugs
Choińska-Mlynarczyk, Marta; Hrdlička, Vojtěch; Skopalová, J.; Šelešovská, R.; Kolivoška, Viliam; Navrátil, Tomáš
2022 - English
Drugs of the nervous system (ATC group N) belong generally to the most commonly (mis)used substances worldwide. Their determination and monitoring of these drugs and their metabolites in various body fluids or environmental matrices represent a challenge for analytical chemists. Our research is focused on the application of electrochemical methods in the monitoring of the most frequently prescribed and the newly introduced nervous system drugs of precisely specified structures and/or of defined properties. For toxicological and pharmacokinetic reasons, emphasis has been placed on investigating the reaction mechanisms of their metabolite formation. New or alternative to commonly used electroanalytical methods applicable for monitoring and characterization of target compounds in their pure state, in body fluids, wastewaters, and other environmental matrices, has been developed. To improve the chemometric parameters and sensing characteristics, attention was paid to the construction of new electrochemical sensors, detectors (e.g. screen-printed, 3D printed), or cells, based on (modified/unmodified) traditional or nontraditional materials, preferably usable at the point-of-care. Keywords: nervous system drugs; active pharmaceutical ingredient; metabolites; electrochemistry Available on request at various institutes of the ASCR

Technical report on progress and achievements for 2022
Šyc, Michal; Grolig, O.; Přemyslovský, P.; Pařízek, V.
2022 - Czech
The response of the research base has sparked interest in validating more advanced mercury separation techniques from flue gas than BAT. These techniques maintain the existing fuel base and focus on the wet scrubbing process of acid gases. The Institute of Chemical Process Fundamentals has developed an original electro-separation technology of the soluble form of mercury from the wet limestone slurry, where the process simultaneously oxidizes the metallic mercury to achieve the desired capture. Legislation for sewage sludge management in selected EU countries: Germany, Austria, France
Pohořelý, Michael; Hušek, Matěj; Moško, Jaroslav; Šyc, Michal
2022 - Czech
This report examines the approach of three selected European countries (Germany, Austria and France - as commissioned by the MoE staff) to the treatment of sewage sludge applied to agricultural land. The first part summarises the legislative limits and compares them with those of the EU and the Czech Republic. The following parts are devoted to a description of the legislation and a deeper understanding of the individual sludge measures in the countries of interest. Tato zpráva se zabývá přístupem tří vybraných evropských států (Německa, Rakouska a Francie – dle zadání zaměstnanců MŽP) ke zpracování čistírenských kalů aplikovaných na zemědělskou půdu. V první části jsou shrnuty legislativní limity a porovnány s limity EU a ČR. Další části jsou věnovány popisu legislativy a hlubšímu pochopení jednotlivých opatření v kalové otázce u zájmových států.\n Keywords: sewage sludge; environmental protection; eu legislation Available at various institutes of the ASCR
