Večeřa, Zbyněk
2017 - Czech
Testing of ”V3H14C” apparatus designed for 3H and 14C sampling from the air. The samples are captured into sorbents, silica gel for 3H (THO, T2O), and sodium hydroxide for 14C (14CO2) that are subsequently in laboratory analyzed for quantification of radioactive emissions of 3H and 14C from nuclear power plants e.g. Testování a vývoj zařízení řady ”V3H14C”, která jsou určena k odběru vzorků 3H a 14C ze vzduchu. Analýzou zjištěné hodnoty aktivit odebraných vzorků slouží ke stanovení bilance vypouštěného 3H a 14C např. z jaderných zařízení.

Determination of Inorganic Arsenic in Samples of Marine Origin
Marschner, Karel; Matoušek, Tomáš; Dědina, Jiří; Musil, Stanislav
2017 - English
A fast screening method for determination of inorganic arsenic in marine samples was developed. This method is based on selective\nhydride generationanddetectionby inductively coupled plasmamass spectrometry. Using a high concentration of hydrochloric acid\ntogether with hydrogen peroxide for hydride generation leads to selective conversion of inorganic arsenic species into arsane. The\naccuracy of this method was verified by comparative analyse by high performance liquid chromatography coupled with hydride generationandatomic\nfluorescence detection.

Fate of smelter dusts in temperate and semi-arid soils

2017 - English
Our results indicate that, compared to semi-arid areas (where inorganic contaminants are rather immobile in soils despite their high concentrations), a higher potential risk exists in smelter-affected humid areas, where metal(loid) contaminants can be easily released by extensive weathering of particulates in the soil systems.

Determination of inorganic anions in air by modernized aerosol sampler
Čapka, Lukáš; Mikuška, Pavel; Večeřa, Zbyněk
2017 - Czech
Combination of original ACTJU sampler with water-based condensation growth unit (CGU) located upstream of the ACTJU allows quantitative sampling of aerosol particles down to a few nm in diameter. The ACTJU effluent is permanently sucked out from the sampler and online analysed for particulate water-soluble species by ion chromatography. Spojení původního vzorkovače ACTJU s kondenzační růstovou jednotkou na bázi vody (CGU), umístěné před ACTJU, umožnilo vzorkovat částice aerosolu o rozměrech v řádech nanometrů. Odtah z ACTJU je kontinuálně odsáván a v něm obsažené vodou rozpustné sloučeniny online analyzovány pomocí iontové chromatografie.

Křůmal, Kamil; Mikuška, Pavel; Večeřa, Zbyněk
2017 - Czech
In this work, the organic compounds and organic markers used for the identification of sources of aerosols were measured. Monosaccharide anhydrides and resin acids (emissions from biomass combustion) and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (emissions from traffic and incomplete combustion) were observed especially. Hopanes, steranes (traffic, coal combustion) and alkanes were next groups of analysed organic compounds. V této práci byly měřeny organické sloučeniny a markery, které slouží pro identifikaci zdrojů atmosférických aerosolů. Byly analyzovány anhydridy monosacharidů (emise ze spalování biomasy), polycyklické aromatické uhlovodíky (emise z dopravy a nedokonalého spalování), hopany a sterany (doprava, spalování uhlí) a alkany.

Characterization of upconversion nanoparticles by fluorescence spectrometry and capillary electrophoresis
Vaněčková, T.; Zítka, J.; Hlaváček, Antonín; Adam, V.; Vaculovičová, M.
2017 - English
Upconversion nanoparticles (UCNPs) are a novel class of luminescent tags for applications in life and material sciences. Unlike traditional fluorophores, UCNPs exhibit emission of shorter wavelength under near-infrared excitation (typically 980 nm). In this work, we have examined these unique photophysical properties by fluorescence spectrometry and capillary electrophoresis. UCNPs co-doped with Yb(III) and Er(III) were characterized using laboratory-made fluorescence spectrometer. We have exploited and evaluated two excitation sources and the dependence of the fluorescence of UCNPs on the relative excitation power. Moreover, capillary electrophoresis with laser-induced fluorescence (CE-LIF) detection was for the first time used for characterization of the nanoparticles. It was proved that CE-LIF is a valuable method to be used for investigation of upconversion luminiscence and monitoring of the interactions of UCNPs with other molecules of interest.
