A methodology for the comprehensive identification and protection of the valuable attributes of historic cities and public spaces and the preservation of their authenticity

The purpose of this work is to create a methodology for identifying complementary attributes critical to the sustainability and authenticity of historic towns and for designing innovative tools for their protection in land-use planning and care-taking processes at heritage sites. In addition, this methodology can be further used to present the values of historical urbanism. It is based on a relatively comprehensive urban assessment and innovative methods using computer-aided imaging techniques conforming to international standards of urban management with public participation. The specific objective is to formulate and define general standard documentation and tools for assessing urban development in the course of planning and building-development within the framework of heritage-site care and preservation, or more precisely, to assess the degree of heritage value of specified urban/urbanistic phenomena and their attributes. In other words: the specification of urban phenomena and their attributes with heritage potential. Smyslem práce bylo vytvoření metodiky identifikace komplementárních atributů, kritických pro udržitelnost hodnot památkových měst, pro jejich autenticitu a návrh inovativních nástrojů jejich ochrany v procesech územního plánování a památkové péče. Kromě toho může být Metodika dále využívána při prezentaci hodnot historického urbanismu. Je založena na relativně komplexním hodnocení měst, inovativních metodách využívajících počítačově podporované zobrazovací techniky odpovídající mezinárodním standardům řízení měst za účasti veřejnosti. Významně tak doplňuje a obohacuje výstupy dalších projektů NAKI v oblasti historického urbanismu. Konkrétním cílem bylo formulovat a vymezit obecné standardní podklady a nástroje pro posouzení rozvoje měst v rámci výkonů aktérů územního a stavebního rozvoje v rámci památkové péče, resp. pro posouzení míry památkové hodnoty specifikovaných urbánních/urbanistických jevů a atributů. Jinak řečeno, jde o specifikaci urbánních jevů a atributů s památkovým potenciálem.

The methodology describes specific procedures for covering of the buried infrastructure components. The purpose of these procedures is low cost protection for the buried technologies against dynamic ground threats. Mainly it is laid explosives and cumulative bullets. The basic procedures of this methodology have been implicated into the gas normative regulation TPG 70204 - Revision 2. Metodika popisuje specifický postup krytí zakopaných infrastrukturních prvků. Účelem tohoto postupu je ochrana zakopaných technologií před dynamickým ohrožením z povrchu. Jedná se zejména o položené výbušniny a kumulativní nálože. Hlavní postupy byly vloženy do plynárenského normativního předpisu TPG 70204 - Změna 2.

This methodology describes the procedures, the equipment and software used for measurement of the speed decrease of flying projectile through different bulk, silicate and solid masses. The advantage and uniqueness of this methodology consists in ability to measure the attenuation characteristics of various materials during the impact by high speed projectile. The methodology is based on a system of thin plates with optic fibers that function as a light-time gate with a defined pitch. Metodika popisuje postupy, použitá zařízení a software potřebná k měření průběhu poklesu rychlosti letících projektilů skrz různé sypké i pevné hmoty. Výhoda a unikátnost této metodiky spočívá v schopnosti měření útlumových charakteristik různých materiálů při impaktu projektilem o vysoké rychlosti. Metodika je založena na systému tenkých desek s optickým vláknem, které fungují při průletu střely jako světelné časové brány s definovanou vzájemnou roztečí.

The multidisciplinary criteria for selecting, preparation and processing of a replacement stone for ashlar masonry were implemented in restoration and conservation of the Castle of Kost battlements – one of the most authentically survived medieval fortification monuments in the Czech Republic. Detailed description of undertaken surveys, preparation and interventions carried out within the repair process. Interdisciplinární kritéria pro výběr, přípravu a opracování náhradního kamene určeného pro opravy lícového zdiva byla použita při restaurování hradebního ochozu s cimbuřím na hradě Kosti, který patří k našim nejlépe zachovaným památkám středověkého fortifikačního stavitelství. Součástí je podrobný popis provedených průzkumů a analýz, přípravných prací a vlastního provedení opravy.

This conservation procedure includes a description of basic steps, which must be followed to use the ground-penetrating radar and to gain useful data for composition visualization of facial sandstone masonry used in historic structures. Suitable settings of the GPR device are introduced for collecting data and the way of their processing with the aid of software. The conservation procedure applies a non-invasive analytical technique of GPR when surveying stone structures and therefore it can be a useful specifying tool of particular details during the execution phase of the construction-historical survey Tento památkový postup obsahuje popis základních kroků, které je třeba dodržet pro úspěšné použití georadaru a získání užitečných dat při vizualizaci skladby lícního pískovcového zdiva historických konstrukcí. Jsou zde uvedena vhodná nastavení přístroje GPR při sběru dat a jejich způsob zpracování pomocí softwaru. Památkový postup aplikuje nedestruktivní analytickou techniku GPR při průzkumu kamenných konstrukcí a může proto být užitečným upřesněním specifických podrobností při provádění stavebně historického průzkumu.

The conservation process describes the way of using prosthesis lap scarf carpentry joints for reconstruction of historical timber structures. This new scarf joint makes use of the strutting effect of inclined contact faces where the forces are transmitted through wooden coupling elements - wooden dowels or keys. The process consists of several chapters describing the diagnostics of original wood and the repaired structure, the design of the joint and execution of the joint. It also includes examples of succesful reconstruction made with according to this conservation process. Památkový postup popisuje způsob využití protézovacího plátového celodřevěného spoje při rekonstrukcích historických dřevěných konstrukcí. Tento nový plátový spoj využívá rozpíravého efektu šikmých čel a síly v něm jsou přenášeny pomocí dřevěných spojovacích prostředků - dřevěných kolíků či dřevěných hmoždíků. Postup se skládá z několika kapitol popisujících diagnostiku původního materiálu a opravované konstrukce, návrh spoje a jeho provádění. Obsahuje také příklady úspěšných rekonstrukcí, které byly provedeny s jeho využitím.
