Folk Song and Space: Examples from Moravia and Silesia

2020 - Czech The article deals with the relationship of space and folk song, using examples from research on music folklore and folk singing in Moravia and Silesia. While some songs were not connected to specific environments, others were often or exclusively performed indoors, while others had to be performed in the open space. The impact of space upon a song was sometimes strengthened by the function of the song: either intimate singing, or singing connected with dance. Článek se zabývá vztahem prostoru a lidové písně na příkladu výzkumu hudebního folkloru a lidové zpěvnosti na Moravě a ve Slezsku. Některé písně nebyly vázány na konkrétní prostředí, jiné zněly častěji nebo výhradně v interiéru, pro interpretaci dalších byl potřeba volný prostor. Působení prostoru na píseň někdy umocňovala také jejich funkce: vznikaly tak rozdíly mezi intimním zpěvním přednesem a zpěvem spojeným s tancem. Between the „ruchadlo“ and the Czech Cottage: The (Non-)Discovery of the „Folk“ Culture Invention in the 19th Century and its Impact on Research into Vernacular Culture

2020 - Czech The article presents and uses specific examples (swing plow called ruchadlo and timber vernacular dwelling houses) to analyze the conceptualization of the common people and vernacular culture in the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. Two opposing beliefs on the ability of the non-elites to be actively creative were typical for this era. The one side assumed a completely passive taking over of patterns, technologies, etc. from economically and socially more advanced environments, while the other attributed exceptional creative abilities to „regular folk,“ some even leading to historic discoveries. These two concepts strongly resonated in various Central European trends in the humanities and social sciences throughout the entire 20th century. This was symptomatic, especially in those instances, where historians, museologists, art historians or even non-academic experts were the ones conducting the research. Both lines of thought share the highly problematic notion of viewing the people as a creative collective entity or a passive entity. Ve studii jsou představeny a na konkrétních příkladech diskutovány konceptualizace lidu a tzv. lidové kultury v 19. a počátkem 20. století, pro které byly typické dva krajní póly představ o schopnostech neelitních vrstev společnosti aktivním způsobem tvořit. Zastánci jednoho z těchto přístupů předpokládali bezvýhradné a pasivní přejímání vzorů, technologií apod. z ekonomicky a sociálně vyspělejšího prostředí, představitelé druhého připisovali „lidu“ neobyčejné tvůrčí schopnosti vedoucí až ke vzniku epochálních vynálezů. Tyto koncepty silně rezonovaly v nejrůznějších středoevropských směrech humanitních a sociálních věd po celé 20. století – zcela symptomaticky, zejména v případech, kdy se výzkumu „lidové kultury“ věnovali historici, muzeologové, uměnovědci nebo naprostí laici. Oba směry spojuje krajně problematická představa lidu jako kolektivní tvůrčí nebo naopak zcela pasivní entity. 2018 - Czech The paper focuses short survey of methods of field research, subsequent processing and analysis of the data gained, and the means of using the results in professional practice. The main evidence of this activity is provided by sound recordings. Apart from this body of work, there also is memory, which allows access to further information concerning the preparation of research, the process of working with informants, and diverse consequences that can occur because of research. Příspěvek je stručným přehledem o metodách terénního výzkumu, následné analýze získaných dat a o způsobu jejich využití v odborné praxi. Hlavním dokladem této činnosti jsou zvukové nahrávky. Vedle toho je to také paměť, která dovoluje získat další informace, týkající se přípravy výzkumu, procesu práce s informátory a další údaje provázející výzkumnou práci v terénu. Dům národnostních menšin v Praze - impulzy k uskutečnění záměru a realizace projektu

2018 - Czech The representatives of the national minorities in Prague iniciated the establishing of the centre of organizations of the national minorities in Prague already after 1993. The idea of creating the House of the national minorities has been than realized in the cooperation between Prague's Comittee for National Minorities and the Government Council for National Minority Affairs. Funding for the reconstruction of the appropriate building was provided by the government from the state budget and, on the other hand, the larger part of the costs was paid from the city budget. The building was handed over to the use of the City's administration as the headquarters of Prague's minority organizations in 2007 and a centre of their social and cultural life. S návrhy vytvořit centrum organizací národnostních menšin v Praze přicházeli zástupci národnostních menšin po 1993. Záměr zřízení Domu národnostních menšin byl pak realizován ve spolupráci Komise Rady hl. m. Prahy s Radou vlády pro národnostní menšiny. Finanční prostředky na přestavbu vhodného objektu poskytla jednak vláda ze státního rozpočtu, jednak větší část nákladů byla uhrazena z rozpočtu hl. m. Prahy. Objekt byl předán v roce 2007 k užívání Magistrátu hl. m. Prahy jako sídlo menšinových organizací a centrum jejich společenského a kulturního života. 2017 - Czech The article deals with the reception of the oldest Czech song Hospodine pomiluj ny, which circulated as the song of Saint Adalbert. The most recent dating of the text between the 10th and 11th century solved the disputes about the age of the song and supported the earlier allegation that both the text and the melody were derived from the church slavonic version of litanies which had been used abundantly in west Europe from the 1st milleny as the standard form of the people's worship. The gathered documentation speaks about the tausend-year tradition which was accompanied by the development and varieties and which later underwent several historicizing redactions (in the 17th, 19th and 20th centuries). Continuity of the recitation cadence of the old layers of western choral music appears in the individual versions of melody and is analogous with the melodies of the traditional glagolitic chant in Croatia. Studie se zabývá dějinami recepce nejstarší české duchovní písně Hospodine pomiluj ny. Původ textu, poprvé zapsaného ve 14. století se dnes datuje do 10.-11. století, struktura textu i nápěvu je odvozena ze západního typu litanií v církevní slovanštině. Dějiny recepce této písně zahrnují její využití v různých funkcích, náležejících formě litanie (v rámci liturgie, při královské korunovaci, před bitvami, v čase nebezpečí, pro získání odpustků). Dlouhá tradice písně zahrnuje několik různých - i historizujících - redakcí. Dvě různé tradice recepce písně se krátce protly v liturgii Emauzského kláštera (s kostele zasvěceným mj. sv. Vojtěchovi, domnělému autorovi písně) ve 14. století. Lze doložit též souvislost mezi melodií písně Hospodine pomiluj ny a tradicí hlaholského zpěvu v Chorvatsku.
