Wideband current convertor for Fourier transform interferometer

The reserach report describes low current - voltage wide band converter. The report includes details about the construction of the instrument, describes its function, methods and questions concerning its design. The converter processes the current signal of photodetectors used with the Fourier transformed - photoluminescence interferometer. Výzkumná zpráva popisuje širokopásmový konvertor malých proudů na napětí. Obsahuje konstrukční údaje a popis činnosti přístroje, postupy a úvahy použité při jeho návrhu. Konvertor zpracovává proudový signál fotocel fotoluminiscenčního fourierovského interferometru.

Tapered optical fibers

A paper is focused on a design and manufacturing microstructure optical fibers with a high nonlinear coefficient, which was reached by using a nonlinear glass and tapering a microstructure optical fiber section. In designed highly nonlinear fiber taper, supercontinum generation was simulated. Designed tapered microstructure optical fiber was manufactured with using constructed tapering apparatus. The tapering apparatus was also employed for producing fiber tips, as probes for pH measurement. Pro generaci superkontinua byla navržena zúžená mikrostrukturní optická vlákna z křemenného a z olovnatého skla s vysokým nelineárním koeficientem. Generace superkontinua byla simulována v pásmu 1550 nm. Pro přípravu zúžených optických vláken byly provedeny technologické experimenty na zkonstruovaném univerzálním, počítačem řízeném, zařízení. Pomocí zařízení pro zužování optických vláken byly též vyrobeny špičky na jednovidových optických vláknech sloužící jako sondy pro měření pH.

Application of long-period fiber grating as converter of phase modulation to amplitude modulation

We proposed and demonstrated that long-period fiber grating can serve as converter of phase modulation to amplitude modulation in wavelength converters based on XPM. In our particular implementation, an input pulse train with repetition rate of 160Gb/s at the wavelength of 1572nm were converted to train of 2ps pulses at 1555nm. We shown its benefits compared to differential interferometric schemes used for the same purpose. Navrhli jsme a experimentálně ověřili použití optické vláknové mřížky s dlouhou periodou pro konverzi fázové modulace na amplitudovou. Aplikovali jsme ji na místo diferenciálního interferometru ve vlnovém konvertoru založeném na křížové fázové modulaci a následně využili ke konverzi signálu z 1572nm na 1555nm při 160Gb/s.

Analysis of situation in implementation of FTTx networks at home and abroad

In the contribution, up-to-date information on implementation and utilization of optical fibre-based FTTx-type access networks in the Czech Republic and abroad is presented. Emphasis is placed on economical and political aspects of this process. Some successful FTTx projects realized at home and abroad are described. An attempt is made to outline the trends of development of FTTx-based access networks. V příspěvku jsou presentovány aktuální informace o budování a využívání optických přístupových sítí doma i v zahraničí. Důraz je kladen na ekonomické a politické aspekty tohoto procesu. Jsou popsány některé úspěšné domácí i zahraniční projekty realizace FTTx. Je učiněn pokus naznačit trendy rozvoje sítí založených na technologii FTTx.

The goal of the laser-topograph control systems is the measured sample positions control in the perpendicular plane to the direction of the laser beam and data sampling from lock-in-amplifier. The lock-in-amplifier is detecting the secondary luminescence light from the measured sample. Úlohou řídícího systému laserového topografu je řízení pohybu měřeného vzorku v rovině kolmé na směr dopadu laserového paprsku a sběr dat z lock-in zesilovače detekujícího intensitu světla sekundární luminiscence testovaného vzorku.

FTTx case study

In the framework of the European IST project BReATH (BRoadband e-services and Access for The Home) techno-economical analysis of a broadband access network employing FTTx architecture has been performed. The aim of the FTTx project is to enhance the existing CATV network enabling to provide triple play services and extend it to cover a new home development area. FTTH as well as FTTB and P2P/P2MP variations have been considered. The case study can serve as an inspiration for other similar cases. V rámci evropském projektu BReATH (BRoadband e-services and Access for The Home) byla provedena technicko-ekonomická analýza projektu širokopásmové přístupové sítě založené na technologii FTTx. S cílem zvýšit kapacitu již existující sítě TKR a umožnit poskytování služeb triple play a současně síť rozšířit tak, aby pokryla i oblast s novou výstavbou, byl vypracován projekt překryvné sítě typu FTTH a FTTB P2P a P2MP. Analyzovaný případ by mohl sloužit i jako inspirace pro řešení dalších podobných situací.

The mission and preliminary results achieved in the framework of the European FP6 IST Project BReATH (BRoadband e-services and Access for The Home) are presented. Advances in FTTx technologies and in their deployment in the access networks as presented in the “Europe at the Speed of Light 2006” Conference held in Vienna are described. V příspěvku je vysvětleno poslání evropského projektu BReATH (BRoadband e-services and Access for The Home) – a presentovány předběžné výsledky dosažené v rámci tohoto projektu. Dále jsou uvedeny informace o pokrocích ve vývoji technologií FTTx a jejich nasazování do přístupových sítí zejména v zemích Evropské unie.
