Success of erbium doped fiber amplifiers in telecommunications stimulated also recent developments in the field of fiber lasers. Basic principles of fiber amplifiers and lasers are overviewed in the paper. Some applications of fiber lasers are described as well. Úspěch erbiem dopovaných vláknových zesilovačů v telekomunikacích podnítil i nedávný rozvoj vláknových laserů, které v mnoha aplikacích začínají nahrazovat konvenční pevnolátkové lasery. V přednášce je podán přehled základních principů vláknových zesilovačů a laserů. Jsou popsány i některé aplikace vláknových laserů.

Application of pyroelectric sensor TGS in experimental infrared gas analyzer

The research report descibes the utilization of a triglycine sulfate pyroelectric sensor in an experimental infrared gas analyzer designed in IREE for the control of the carbon dioxide concentration in gaseous mixtures. The report includes details about the construction of the analyzer, describes its function, method of calibration and its medium term stability. Information gained during the development and testing of the analyzer is also included and can be considered in case of future further development of this unit. Výzkumná zpráva popisuje použití pyroelektrického senzoru na bázi síranu triglycinia pro analýzu obsahu kysličníku uhličitého v jednoduchém pokusném infračerveném plynovém analyzátoru. Obsahuje konstrukční údaje a popis činnosti analyzátoru, zjištění jeho kalibrační křivky a střednědobé stability. Uvádí poznatky z pokusných úprav zapojení a z provozování analyzátoru použitelné pro případný další vývoj přístroje.

In the lecture for secondary school physics teachers, principles of light propagation in dielectric waveguides are explained. Operation principles of passive, dynamic and active photonic devices, especially components for optical communnication are described, too. Finally, structures with high refractive-index contrast perspective for large-scale photonic integration are mentioned. V přednášce pro středoškolské učitele fyziky jsou objasněny principy šíření optického záření v dielektrických vlnovodech, dále jsou popsány principy funkce typických pasivních, dynamických a aktivních fotonických vlnovodných součástek, zejména součástek pro aplikace v optickém sdělování. V závěru jsou zmíněny struktury s vysokým kontrastem indexu lomu perspektivní pro fotonické součástky s vysokým stupněm integrace.

Determination of temperature dependence of pyroelectric coefficient and permitivity TGS trough approximation function

Technical report describes the numerical method emploeyd for evaluation of properties of tryglicinium sulfate based pyroeletric materials prepared in the IREE. The raw experimental data related to temperature dependence of capacitance and of the polarization curves of the samples are interpolated using appropriate approximation function. The program optimizes parameter values of the function expressing the permitivity and the pyroelectric coefficient. Výzkumná zpráva popisuje matematickou metodu, která umožňuje vyhodnocení vlastností pyroelektrických materiálů na bázi síranu triglycinia připravovaných v našem ústavu. Naměřené hodnoty teplotní závislosti kapacity a polarizační křivky vzorku se prokládají vhodnou aproximační funkcí. Výpočetní program optimalizuje hodnoty parametrů funkce, mezi které náležejí mj. jmenovitá permitivita a pyroelektrický koeficient.

Application of optical semiconductor amplifiers and distributed Raman amplifiers for distribution of 10GE signals at 1310nm has been studied experimentally. Experimentálně byly vyšetřovány možnosti zesílení signálu 10GE v pásmu 1310nm pomocí polovodičových optických zesilovačů a rozprostřeným zesílením založeným na stimulovaném Ramanově jevu.
