The conference saw presentations by researchers from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Germany, France, Britain and the USA. The selected texts do not build on a reconstruction of 1989 events or the concept of „coming to terms with the communist past“, instead they focus on interesting (dis)continuities of the twenty years after 1989 with the 1970s and 1980s. Na konferenci se sešli badatelé a badatelky z České republiky, Slovenska, Maďarska, Německa, Francie, Británie a USA. Publikované texty poodstupují od pouhé rekonstrukce událostí 1989 i od pojmu „vyrovnání se s komunistickou minulostí“ a místo toho se soustřeďují na některé zajímavé (dis)kontinuity dvou desetiletí po roce 1989 s lety sedmdesátými a osmdesátými.

The essay discussed the political and cultural disputes over the interpretation of the legacy of anti-communist opposition. It understands them as important element of the formation of historical frame and positive content of legitimization practices in Czech and other Central European democracies after 1989 Příspěvek se týká politicko-kulturních sporů o interpretaci dědictví protikomunistické opozice jako důležitého prvku vytváření dějinného rámce a pozitivního obsahu legitimizačních praktik české a dalších středoevropských demokracií po roce 1989.

The University of political science and economics (1949-1953) had been established as an university of a new type which main aim was to educate and to train new political elite and technocracy of new regime. New students had been recruited from special courses for proletarians. The university had three faculties – of economics, of international relations and social sciences, it had been planned that they would accept 1000 students per academic year. The university introduced a new type of studies („engaged studies“) as well as new courses as e.g. Marxism-Leninism. At the beginning of 1950ties the UPSE played an important role in the process of establishment of a new course in the university curriculum in the communist Czechoslovakia. Vysoká škola politických a hospodářských věd existovala v letech 1949-1953 jako škola určená k výchově kádrů a technokracie nového režimu, jež byli rekrutováni i z dělnických kurzů. Dělila se na fakulty hospodářskou, politicko-diplomatickou a společenských nauk, které byly dimenzovány na 1000 studentů v ročníku, celkově tedy na 3500-3800 studentů ve 4 ročnících. Zavedla nový typ studia („angažované studium“) a společně s ním i nové předměty jako např. marxismus-leninismus. Na počátku 50.let hrála důležitou roli při formování základů universitního vzdělávání v komunistickém Československu.

The article examines the benefits and pitfalls of the use of oral history in history teaching at universities, secondary and elementary schools. Resume derives from the own pedagogical experiences and is also based on the experience gained from the activities within the Czech Oral History Association. Autoři článku se zamýšlí nad přínosy a úskalími využití orální historie při výuce dějepisu na vysokých, středních a základních školách. Vychází přitom z vlastního pedagogického působení a také ze zkušeností získaných v rámci činnosti uvnitř České asociace orální historie.

Bohumil Laušman was a social-democratic politician. He influenced the Czechoslovak politics between 1945-1948 and he contributed to the development of the socialist society. He emigrated to Federal Republic of Germany (Oberursel) after February 1948. Later, he went to Yugoslavia and Austria. He was kidnapped back to Czechoslovakia in 1953. Laušman was active in exile as we can see from archival collections. They can be found not only in Austrian and Serbian archives but also in British archives, e. g. in the documents of Blažej Vilím, Karl Maiwald or Jan Svoboda. Another important source of information is comprised in the memoirs of Rudolf Krupička. Krupička was a chemist who went to Yugoslavia with Laušman and supported him financially. He published a book where he describes their experiences. Materials relating to Laušman are available in the USA, too. Bohumil Laušman byl sociálně demokratickým politikem. Ovlivňoval československou politiku v letech 1945-1948 a svou činností přispěl k nastolení komunistické vlády v Československu. Po únoru 1948 emigroval do Spolkové republiky Německo (Oberursel), později odešel do Jugoslávie a Rakouska. Komunistická tajná policie jej v roce 1953 unesla zpět do Československa. Laušman vyvíjel v exilu aktivní politickou činnost, jak je zřejmé z dochovaných archivních dokumentů. Nacházejí se nejen v rakouských a srbských archivech, ale také v britských archivech, zejména v pozůstalosti Blažeje Vilíma, Karla Maiwalda nebo Jana Svobody. Jiné důležité informace obsahují paměti Rudolfa Krupičky. Krupička byl chemik, který odešel s Laušmanem do Jugoslávie a finančně jej podporoval. Vydal knihu, v níž jejich osudy popsal. Mnohé materiály, vypovídající o Laušmanových osudech, jsou uloženy rovněž v USA.

Czech political exile in the 1990s are critically responded to the state of the country. The study examines why the extremely critical complaints began to reverberate soon after 1989 and recalls earlier discussions between exile and home, between exile politics and Charter 77, which have already appeared moments earlier misunderstandings, which after 1989 became important parts of the czech public debate. Český politický exil v 90. letech často kriticky reagoval na stav země, společnosti a politiky. Studie zkoumá příčiny, které způsobily, že se krajně kritické výtky začaly ozývat už brzy po listopadu 1989. Připomíná starší diskuse mezi exilem a domovem, mezi exilovými politiky a prostředním Charty 77, v nichž se už dříve objevily momenty nedorozumění, které po listopadu 1989 vystoupily na povrch.
