Real time noise reduction

Algorithms enhancing the useful audio signal at the expense of background interference noise have become a topical problem. Most important of all is to improve methods working in real time. These methods come in useful especially in area of mobile communications. Algoritmy zvýrazňující užitečný audio signál na úkor rušivých hluků v pozadí jsou v současné době velice aktuálním problémem. Důležité je zaměřit se především na zdokonalení metod pracujících v reálném čase. Tyto metody nalézají široké uplatnění zejména v oblasti mobilní komunikací.

The report describes non-linear frequency scale mapping used for voice conversion in the Czech and Slovak TTS system with diphone inventory and synthesis based on the cepstral and harmonic speech model. Ve zprávě je popsána metoda nelineárního mapování frekvenční škály, použitá pro transformaci hlasu v česko-slovenském TTS systému s difónovým inventářem a syntézou na bázi kepstrálního a harmonického modelu řeči.

In this contribution, we present experimental results on amplification of 10GE signále in the 1310nm wavelength range with respect to application of PC LAN adapters in metropolitan area networks. V příspěvku jsou prezentovány experimentální výsledky zesilování 10GE signálů v pásmu 1310nm s ohledem na použití PC LAN adaptérů v metropolitních sítích.

Frequency scale mapping methods for voice conversion

The research report compares several approcaches to frequency scale mapping for voice conversion. All the presented methods may be used for transformation of voice characteristics between male and female or childisch. The advantage of the proposed non-linear methods is possibility of their implementation in the text-to-speech systems with cepstral description because of the unchanged number of points of the modified speech spectrum envelope in FFT-based methods. Výskumná správa pojednává niekol'ko prístupov k mapovani u frekvenčnej mierky pre konverziu hlasu. Všetky uvádzané metódy možno použit' na transformáciu charakteristík medzi mužským, ženským a detským hlasom. Výhodou navrhnutých nelineárnych metód je možnost' ich implementácie v systémoch prevodu textu na reč s kepstrálnym popisom, kedže ostáva zachovaný počet bodov modifikovanej obálky rečového spektra pri metodách založených na rýchlej Fourierovej transformácii.

Tomographic reconstruction of the geometry and refractive index profile of preforms for special fibers

Tomographic calculation of the refractive index profile of non-circular symmetric optical fibre performs is shown on preform for double clad pumping fibre lasers and amplifiers. V příspěvku je ukázána tomografická rekonstrukce profilu indexu lomu na preformě určené pro pláštěm čerpané vláknové lasery a zesilovače.

Harmonising of ultrawideband wireless systems with the existing radiocommunication services

In the paper various problems with the implementation of ultrawideband technology in the regular service are presented. The problem of harmonising the new technology with the existing radiocommunication systems is of paramount importance. Attention to the selected technical questions is given. The report contains contemporary state of art and comment to the regulatory issues in USA, Europe, Japan and othe countries. Zpráva rozebírá rozmanité problémy při zavádění ultra-širokopásmových technologií do pravidelné radiokomunikační služby. Harmonizace nové technologie s existujícími rádiovými systémy je primárně důležitá. Pozornost věnuje i vybraným technickým otázkám v této souvislosti. Zpráva komentuje současný stav techniky a technologie oboru a všímá si regulačních aktivit v USA, Evropě, Japonsku a dalších zemích.

Access to high-speed Internet via small and medium CATV networks

In the Czech Republic the CATV networks play an important role in provisioning access to broadband Internet. It is a natural supplement to the service of TV and radio broadcasting while based on IP protocol also the basic telephony service can be cheaply provided. In the paper various aspects of providing access to broadband Internet over small and medium CATV networks that are deployed mainly in small towns and villages are discussed. V České republice se televizní kabelové rozvody výrazně podílejí na poskytování přístupu k vysokorychlostnímu internetu. Je přirozeným doplňkem služby šíření televize a rozhlasu, přičemž na základě IP protokolu umožňuje levně poskytovat i základní telefonní službu. V příspěvku jsou diskutovány různé aspekty poskytování přístupu k vysokorychlostnímu internetu prostřednictvím malých a středních rozvodů kabelové televize budovaných zejména v menších městech a obcích.

Chromatic dispersion characterization of the microstructure optical fibres /MOF/ using the interferometric method is shown on several fibre samples. The differences from the measurement of standard single mode fibres are discussed. V příspěvku je na několika příkladech popsána charakterizace chromatické disperze MOF /mikrostrukturních optických vláken - Microstructure optical fibres/ interferometrickou metodou a jsou uvedeny odlišnosti od měření disperze standardních optických vláken.
