2013 - Czech The contribution takes the form of the case study which would describe the evolution of the movement, its creation and also its so called "second life" together with symbolic meaning of the movement and the importance of the biggest landmark connected with the German turner movement – the gigantic monument of F. L. Jahn in Cheb which is nearly forgotten in these days. Případová studie popisuje genezi vývoje, vzniku a tzv. druhého života, symbolický obsah a význam největší památky německého turnerství na našem území – dnes již téměř zapomenutého obřího Jahnova pomníku v Chebu. A scholar in politics

2013 - Czech The paper sums up and evaluates the political activities of the prominent Czech natural scientist Professor Bohumil Němec (1873-1966). It mentions his work in the progressive movement at the end of the 19th century, in the Young Czech Party after 1907 and in the national democratic party in the interwar period, his role in the home resistance during the World War I, his part at the proclamation of the independent Czechoslavak state, in the Chamber of Deputies, Senate and National Czechoslovak Council. It details the background of his candidacy for the President of the Republic in December 1935, when he stood against Edvard Beneš and earned a harsh criticism from the political faction of the "Castle". It observes his confrontation with the political situation after the World War II and the ambivalent attitude of the Communist regime towards his personality. In the end, it reveals his recollections of the presidential election of 1935 written down in the diaries during his last years. It proves that Bohumil Němec was a homo politicus for all his life with clearly defined liberal-nationalist conviction and that his presidential candidacy was a decision of a politically mature and experienced man. Studie shrnuje a hodnotí působení předního českého přírodovědce profesora Bohumila Němce (1873-1966) v politickém životě. Připomíná jeho činnost v pokrokářském hnutí devadesátých let 19. století, v mladočeské straně po roce 1907 a v národně demokratické straně v meziválečném období, jeho roli v domácím odboji za první světové války, při vzniku samostatného československého státu, v poslanecké sněmovně a v senátu první republiky i v čele Národní rady československé. Podrobně rozebírá historii Němcovy kandidatury na úřad prezidenta republiky v prosinci 1935, kdy se stal protihráčem Edvarda Beneše a dočkal se za to tvrdé kritiky z "hradního" politického tábora. Všímá si též jeho konfrontace s politickými poměry po druhé světové válce i ambivalentního vztahu komunistického režimu vůči jeho osobnosti a posléze objevuje pozdní reflexe prezidentské volby roku 1935 v profesorových denících z konce života. Dokazuje, že Bohumil Němec byl po celý svůj život homo politicus s vyhraněnými liberálně nacionalistickými názory a postoji a že k prezidentské kandidatuře přistupoval jako politicky vyzrálý a zkušený člověk. 2012 - Czech Příspěvek popisuje novou metodu zpřístupnění velkého a cenného knihovního fondu, jehož původní uspořádání se nezachovalo a ke kterému neexistuje žádný katalog. Metoda byla aplikována na sbírce starých tisků (1501-1800) z knihovny Ústavu T. G. Masaryka; nyní ve správě Masarykova ústavu a Archivu AV ČR. Metoda je založena na pořízení tří souborů dat: přepis původního přírůstkového seznamu do digitální podoby, fyzická inventarizace knih v depozitáři a evidenční fotodokumentace. Data lze propojit s použitím přírůstkového čísla jako klíče. Příspěvek představuje i praktické zkušenosti s metodou a výhody jejího použití v celku přibližně 10.000 starých tisků. 2012 - Czech The contribution describes effort and activities of the first Professor of historical homeland study Josef Vítězslav Šimák (1870-1941), which led to establishing regional history periodicals, both in theory and metodology or in practice (particular periodicals of Šimák´s home region such as Od Ještěda k Troskám, Boleslavan, Sborník okresu železnobrodského, Lomnicko nad Popelkou, Bezděz, Krkonoše). The contribution covers the period since the 1890s until Šimák´s death. Příspěvek charakterizuje úsilí a aktivity prvního profesora historické vlastivědy Josefa Vítězslava Šimáka (1870–1941) vedoucí k založení regionálních vlastivědných periodik, a to jak v rovině teoretické, resp. metodické (v kontextu jeho pojetí historické vlastivědy), tak v rovině praktické (konkrétní časopisy Šimákova rodného kraje: Od Ještěda k Troskám, Boleslavan, Sborník okresu železnobrodského, Lomnicko nad Popelkou, Bezděz, Krkonoše).
