Position of men and women at ICT Prague: Report from analysis of aggregated statistics (2nd wave)

Research report summarizes the results of the analysis of aggregated statistics on women and men in ICT Prague. The main topics of the analysis were: the representation of men and women on a different levels of the academic hierarchy and leadership, the gender pay gap and the functioning of the Internal Grant Agency (IGA) and shifts between 2014 and 2016.\n Výzkumná zpráva shrnuje výsledky druhé vlny analýzy agregovaných statistik týkajících se postavení žen a mužů na VŠCHT Praha. Mezi hlavními tématy analýzy bylo zastoupení žena mužů mezi studujícími, na různých stupních akademické hierarchie a ve vedení, genderové platové rozdíly a fungování interní grantové agentury (IGA) a posun těchto ukazatelů mezi lety 2014 a 2016.

The study tried to design strategies aimed at reducing alcohol consumption among young people. Studie Mladí lidé a alkohol se zaměřila zejména na postoje a zvyky mladých lidí ve vztahu k alkoholu. Jejím cílem bylo navržení strategií směřující k omezení konzumace alkoholu mezi mladými lidmi.

Measuring phonological awareness – blend phoneme test in the beginning of schooling: an comparison of classical test theory and item response theory

The main purpose of this paper is to show dis/advantages of two approaches classical test theory (CTT) and item response theory (IRT) to assess the level of diagnostic tools for evaluating phonemic awareness among first-grade students using longitudinal survey of children during the first grade of primary school (25 schools in Prague and Central Bohemia, 439 pupils). Phonemic awareness (FA) was measured by the task blend phonemes into syllables and words. The advantage of IRT compared to CTT is primarily a concept of independence of the test items. The probability of a response is dependent on the level of latent ability and characteristics of items. So if we know the characteristic of items parameter (difficulty) it could be estimated from the pupil´s responses the level of language skill for diagnostics. The results showed the need for blend phoneme test modifications (in particular for the end of the first grade) so as to adequately measure the high growth of FA ability levels during the first grade. Cílem příspěvku je ukázat výhody a limity dvou přístupů klasické teorie měření (CCT) a teorie odpovědi na položku (IRT) k posouzení úrovně diagnostického nástroje pro hodnocení fonologického povědomí (FP) mezi žáky prvních tříd. FP bylo měřeno testem skládání hlásek v rámci longitudinálního výzkumu 25 škol v Praze a Středočeském kraji (N=439). Výhodou přístupu IRT oproti klasické testové teorie je především pojetí nezávislosti položek v testu. Pravděpodobnost určité odpovědi je tak závislá na úrovni latentní schopnosti žáka a charakteristikách konkrétní položky. Pokud tedy známe parametry položek (obtížnost) lze na základě odpovědí žáka odhadnout úroveň měřené lingvistické schopnosti uplatnitelné v praktické diagnostice. Výsledky poukázaly na vhodnost úpravy testu skládání hlásek (zejména pro konec první třídy) tak, aby adekvátně měřil velkou dynamiku růstu úrovně schopnosti FP během první třídy.

Research report summarizes the results of the second wave of on-line survey conducted in the summer of 2016 on ICT Prague in the frame of the FP7 project TRIGGER. The survey, which included academic staff, focused on working conditions and gender equality at ICT.\n Výzkumná zpráva shrnuje výsledky druhé vlny on-line dotazníkové šetření provedeného v létě 2016 na VŠCHT Praha v rámci mezinárodního projektu 7. rámcového projektu TRIGGER. Dotazníkové šetření, které zahrnovalo akademické a výzkumné pracovníky a pracovnice, se zaměřilo na otázky pracovních podmínek a genderové rovnosti na VŠCHT.

A Guide to Communication and Participation in Decision-Making about the Deep Geological Repository of Spent Nuclear Fuel and High-Level Waste in the Czech Republic

This guide is the outcome of a qualitative and quantitative empirical research that examined the social embeddedness of decisions about the deep geological repository (DGR) of spent nuclear fuel and high-level waste in the Czech Republic. The findings from this research were collected and systematised into an applicable set of principles and procedures for communicating with the public and for participatory decision-making in an effort to promote conflict-free negotiations on DGR. The guide describes the social embeddedness of the decision-making process, distinguishes between the opinion outlooks of different stakeholders, identifies various aspects involved in the implementation of the DGR project and their social dimension, and highlights the need to relate the technical acceptability of the DGR project to its social acceptability. The backbone of the guide is the idea of dialogue, wherein the principles and procedures are elaborated both with a view to dialogue as a decision-making process and with a view to the subjects of the dialogue. The guide seeks to accord balanced weight to the opinion outlooks of all stakeholders, so that it is beneficial both to state system and for affected local communities. The recommendations outlined in the guide draw on the activities of the Working Group for Dialogue on the DGR. Metodika je výsledkem projektu, jehož jádrem bylo shromáždění a systematizace poznatků o sociální zakotvenosti rozhodování o hlubinném úložišti vyhořelého jaderného paliva a vysokoaktivních odpadů (HÚ) za pomoci kvalitativního a kvantitativního empirického sociologického výzkumu. Cílem metodiky je transformovat získané poznatky do aplikovatelné podoby tak, aby vznikl soubor zásad a postupů pro komunikaci s veřejností a participativní rozhodování, které přispějí k nekonfliktnímu průběhu jednání o HÚ v ČR. Vypracování tématu metodiky se opírá o analýzu sociální zakotvenosti rozhodovacího procesu, kde jsou rozlišeny názorové perspektivy účastníků jednání o HÚ, různé realizační aspekty projektu HÚ a jejich sociální charakter a je zdůrazněna potřeba spojit technickou přijatelnost projektu HÚ se sociální přijatelností. Páteř metodiky tvoří idea dialogu, která zásady a návrhy postupů rozpracovává jednak vzhledem dialogu jako procesu rozhodování, jednak vzhledem k tématům dialogu. Metodika usiluje vyváženě zohledňovat názorové perspektivy všech účastníků jednání o HÚ tak, aby byla přínosná jak pro státní instituce, tak pro dotčené místní komunity. Doporučení metodiky jsou rozvíjena v návaznosti na dosavadní činnost Pracovní skupiny pro dialog o HÚ.

V rámci tohoto projektu byly natočeny rozhovory s mladými lidmi ve věku 18 až 34 let, mapující jejich názory, postoje, životní styl apod.
