For the intended restoration of the object, a survey of structures that show faults or for which knowledge of material characteristics is needed for calculations confirming the reliability of the structures was requested. During the implementation of the order, there were difficulties that affected the necessity of its execution in two stages. The user of the tower cooperated with the authors of this report without any problems, and therefore it was possible to carry out the work listed below in the necessary scope and quality. Pro zamýšlené restaurování objektu byl vyžádán průzkum konstrukcí, které vykazují poruchy nebo u nichž znalost materiálových charakteristik je potřebná pro výpočty, potvrzující spolehlivost konstrukcí. Při realizaci objednávky se vyskytly potíže, které ovlivnily nutnost jejího provedení ve dvou etapách. S autory této zprávy uživatel věže spolupracoval bez problémů a proto bylo možno níže uvedené práce provést v potřebném rozsahu a kvalitě.

Research report on testing of mechanical and fracture mechanical properties of special type of the steel. Between the main results of the research belong fracture toughness in the terms of J integral parameters, constants for crack grows rate in the type of steel used to railway bogies. Výzkumná zpráva popisující zkoušky mechanických a lomových mechanických vlastností speciálního typu oceli. Mezi hlavní výsledky výzkumu patří lomová houževnatost v termínech parametrů J integrálu, konstanty pro popis rychlosti růstu trhlin u typu oceli používané pro železniční podvozky.

Scientific report. Tomography of natural gold findings

The aim of the research was to visualize the distribution of gold in natural findings by means of the computed tomography (CT). Gold is present as an alloy with silver (gold being prevalent at least close to the surface, where X-ray fluorescence is applicable). The findings are not homogenous nugets, but stones where gold is distributed in the parent rock (quartz). The purpose of the CT is to visualize the structure of gold in quartz, localize cavities and other structural features. Účelem výzkumu je výpočetní tomografií(CT) vizualizovat rozložení zlata v přírodních nálezech. Zlato se vyskytuje jako slitina se stříbrem (blízko povrchu, kde je možné měřit rentgenovou fluorescencí, zlato výrazně převládá). Nejedná se přitom o homogenní zlaté valouny, zlato prorůstá mateční horninou (křemenem). Cílem CT je zviditelnit strukturu zlata v křemeni, lokalizovat kavity a případné další strukturální detaily.

Chemical and microstructural analyses of the lime plaster sampled from the ceiling of the saloon in chateau Jezeří (CR)

Analysis of the plaster layers sampled from the ceiling of the hall at the Jezeří chateau (CR). Using the instrumental methods SEM-EDS, TGA/ DSC and by dissolving the material with HCl acid), the individual components of the material were determined and the composition of the individual layers of the layers was described. The core layer of the plaster is formed by the aggregate mainly based on quartz grains, the secondary component is feldspar. The grain size of the aggregate part is up to 8 mm. The aggregate makes up 69% by weight. The binder of the plaster is hydraulic lime, medium to strongly hydraulic. The top, stucco layer is 5-7 mm thick. The composition is similar to the core layer, only the grain size of the aggregate is smaller - there are grains up to 0.5 mm in size. On the surface of the stucco layer is a lime microlayer (paint) with a thickness of 70 µm. The binder of this surface micro-layer (paint) is the air lime. Analýza vzorku souvrství omítek odebraného ze stropu sálu na zámku v Jezeří. Použitím instrumentálních metod SEM-EDS, TGA/DSC a mokré cesty (rozpuštěním materiálu kyselinou) byly stanoveny jednotlivé složky materiálu a popsáno složení jednotlivých vrstev souvrství. Spodní – jádrová vrstva omítky je tvořena plnivem zejména na bázi zrn křemene, vedlejší složkou jsou živce. Velikost zrn plniva je až do 8 mm. Plnivo tvoří hmotnostně 69%. Pojivem omítky je hydraulické vápno, středně až silně hydraulické. Vrchní, štuková vrstva je silná 5-7 mm. Složení je obdobné spodní jádrové vrstvě, pouze velikost zrn plniva je menší – vyskytují se zrna velikosti do 0,5 mm. Na povrchu štukové vrstvy je vápenná mikrovrstva o tloušťce 70 µm. Pojivem této povrchové mikro-vrstvy je vzdušné vápno.

The layers of individual samples, layer thicknesses, and their chemical composition were described using optical and electron microscopy. It was determined that most of them are lime coatings with the addition of natural clays, or zinc, lead, or iron pigments. Pomocí optické a elektronové mikroskopie byla popsána souvrství jednotlivých vzorků, tloušťky vrstev a jejich chemické složení. Bylo určeno, že většinou se jedná o vápenné nátěry s přídavkem přírodních hlinek, příp. zinečnatých, olovnatých či železitých pigmentů.

Tomography of a bronze axe of the Únětice culture, found in Kukleny, Hradec Králové

It has been shown in the past that the computed X-ray tomography can bear significant new findings on the distribution of damaging and other structural details of the bronze findings. However, relatively high beam energies are necessary and it is not a priori ensured that the object under test would be penetrated with the radiation sufficiently. A big problem is also the photon scattering, which can make fine details indistinguishable. Therefore, a chosen Únětice culture axe has been submitted to a tomographical investigation in the laboratory of X-ray tomography of the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Czech Academy of Sciences, v.v.i. The result should confirm the suitability of the method for investigations of other similar bronze findings. V minulosti se ukázalo, že výpočetní rentgenová tomografie může přinést významné nové poznatky o rozložení poškození a jiných strukturálních detailech bronzových nálezů. Současně však jsou potřeba poměrně vysoké energie záření a předem není zcela zaručeno, že vybraný objekt bude dostatečně prosvícen. Velkým problémem je též rozptyl fotonů, tzv. scattering, který může znemožnit rozeznání jemných detailů. Proto byla v laboratoři rentgenové tomografie Ústavu teoretické a aplikované mechaniky, AV ČR, v. v. i., podrobena mikro-tomografickému průzkumu vybraná sekera z Únětické kultury. Výsledek by měl prokázat vhodnost metody pro průzkum dalších podobných bronzových nálezů.

Výzkumná zpráva pojednávající o zkouškách vlivu různých bavlněných oděvů na materiální interference během nárazového testu.
