Předmětem této bakalářské práce je analyzovat různá témata související s manželstvím ve třech románech Charlotte Brontëové - Janě Eyrové, Villette a Shirley. Práce zkoumá manželství, přičemž bere v úvahu historickou situaci žen. Také se snaží pochopit motivaci vybraných postav a jejich názory, které ovlivňují jejich budoucí pohled na manželství. The object of this undergraduate thesis is to analyze the various themes of marriage in three of Charlotte Brontë's novels - Jane Eyre, Villette and Shirley. It explores the theme of marriage while taking into account the historical situation of women. It also tries to understand the motivation behind selected characters and their opinions that affect their future view of marriage.

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá zobrazením homosexuálů v současné americké literatuře, a reflexí LGBT hnutí, a to konkrétně v dílech Howl od Allena Ginsberga, A Single Man od Christophera Isherwooda, a Faggots a The Normal Heart od Larryho Kramera. První část se zabývá kulturně-historickým pozadím, tedy konceptem homosexuality, homofilními organizacemi, a starší americkou gay literaturou, druhá část práce se skládá ze samotné analýzy a následné reflexe LGBT hnutí ve vybraných dílech. This bachelor thesis deals with the depiction of homosexuals in contemporary American literature, and the reflection of LGBT movement, namely in the works Howl by Allen Ginsberg, A Single Man by Christopher Isherwood, and Faggots and The Normal Heart by Larry Kramer. The first part of the thesis focuses on the cultural and historical background, i.e. the concept of homosexuality, older American gay literature and homophile organizations. The second part of the thesis comprises of the analysis and the reflection of LGBT movement in selected works.

Tato bakalářská práce je napsána za účelem představit svým čtenářům přehled náboženství ve Spojených státech amerických a stručně představit pět vybraných okrajových náboženských skupin. Tato práce se soustředí na novopohanství a jeho dvě hlavní odvětví druidismus a Wiccu, dvě křesťanské denominace, což je Církev Ježíše Krista Svatých posledních dnů a Amišové, a jedno hnutí osobního růstu nebo rozvoje, Scientologii. Jedna část diskutovaná v této práci je tématika okrajových náboženských skupin použitá v populární kultuře a několik zpráv z internetových stránek, odrážející některé problémy, které se mohou objevit v náboženských komunitách. V této práci jsou analyzovány statistiky. Tabulky a mapy poskytující data mohou být nalezeny v přílohách. Tato práce je rozdělena do několika kapitol s logickým uspořádáním a je napsána dokonce i pro čtenáře, kteří nedisponující žádnou hlubší znalostí tohoto tématu. Statistické údaje byly použity zejména z internetových zdrojů. This Bachelor thesis is written in order to introduce to its readers an overview of the religion in the United States of America and briefly introduce five chosen marginal religious groups. This thesis focuses on Neo-paganism and its two main branches Druidry and Wicca, two Christian denominations such as The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Amish, and one movement of personal growth or development, Scientology. A part discussed in this thesis is the theme of marginal religious groups used in popular culture and some reports from internet websites, reflecting some problems that can occur in religious communities. In this thesis statistics are analysed. The tables and maps with providing data can be found in the appendices. This thesis is divided into several chapters, with a logical structure and it is written even for readers without any deep knowledge of the theme. The statistic data were used mainly from the internet sources.

Tato práce se zabývá různými typy osobností mezi lidmi a jejím hlavním cílem je analyzovat osobnost českých a francouzských studentů, s důrazem na hlavní charakteristické znaky. Práce je rozdělena do dvou hlavních částí. V teoretické části se vysvětluje co je to pojem osobnost, jaké druhy typologie osobnosti existují a jaké jsou jednotlivé typy osobnosti. V praktické části je daná problematika doplněna o vlastní výzkum, díky němuž je zjištěno, do jakého typu osobnosti patří čeští a francouzští studenti a jaké jsou jejich hlavní typické povahové rysy. Jednotlivé odpovědi daných respondentů a jejich výsledky jsou popsány v grafech, které je možné nalézt v příloze. Bachelor thesis deals with different types of personality amongst people and its main objective is to analyze Czech and French student personality, highlighting their main characteristics. This work is divided into two main parts. The theoretical part explains the meaning of the word personality, what kind of personality typologies exist and what are the individual types of personality. The practical part of this issue is complemented by my own research, which found out in what type of personality the Czech and French students belong to and what are their main characteristic traits. The individual responses of the respondents and the final results are described in the charts below in the appendix.

Hlavním cílem této bakalářské práce je překlad dvou textů z oblasti venkovské turistiky. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí teoretické a praktické.
Teoretická část zahrnuje definice překladů, typy překladů, role překladatele, překladatelské metody a postupy. V teoretické části jsou také popsány funkční styly, které se vyskytují v překládaných textech.
Hlavní část praktické části tvoří překlady dvou textů do češtiny. Každý text je doplněn komentářem a glosářem. Komentář se skládá ze dvou částí, makroanalýzy, která analyzuje původní text z morfologického a lexikálního hlediska a mikroanalýzy, která se soustředí na cílový text. The main objective of this bachelor thesis is the translation of two texts from the field of rural tourism. The thesis is divided into two main parts the theoretical and the practical part.
The theoretical part includes translation definitions, types of translation, main tasks of translator, translation methods and procedures. In the theoretical part are also described function styles, which can be found in translated texts.
The main role of practical part belongs to the translation of two English texts into Czech. Each text contains commentary and glossary. The commentary is composed of macroanalysis, which analyses the source text from the morfological and lexical level and of microanalysis, which focuses on the target text.

Tématem této bakalářské práce je překlad textů z oblasti kulturálních studií obecně, konkrétně pak dvou knižních recenzí, s komentářem a glosářem. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí z čehož první část je teoretická a zabývající se procesem překladu, metodami překladu, dále je popsán publicistický styl a charakteristické znaky recenze. Praktická část je tvořena překlady dvou vybraných textů, Oba překlady jsou doplněny komentářem, který texty analyzuje z hlediska gramatického, lexikálního a stylistického, a glosářem. The theme of this thesis is translation of texts dealing with cultural studies with a commentary and a glossary in general, specifically two book reviews. The thesis is divided into two main parts. The first part is theoretical and comments on the process of translation, types of translation methods, the publicistic style and characteristic features of reviews. The practical part consists of the translation of two selected texts. Both of these translations are followed by commentaries analysing the translations from grammatical, lexical and stylistic points of view and glossaries.

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem Peyote a Církev původních Američanů. Toto téma bylo zpracováno se záměrem přiblížení této problematiky, která se týká zejména Spojených států amerických, evropskému čtenáři.
Hlavním cílem bylo představit, co vlastně Peyote znamená a také objasnění spojitost této rostliny s Církví původních Američanů. Tato práce by měla poskytnout náhled na tuto problematiku a na její současnou situaci ve Spojených státech.
Tato práce se zabývá chemickým složením Peyote, oblastmi výskytu a historií užívání této rostliny. Další část této práce je věnována Církvi původních Američanů, její historii a důležitým faktům. Poslední část sestává převážně z rozhovoru se členem Haskell Native American Church Club, který zprostředkovává pohled na současnou situaci, která se týká Církve původních Američanů. Topic of this bachelor thesis is Peyote and the Native American Church. This topic was chosen with an intent to introduce Peyote and the Native American Church to European reader, to initiate reader to this issue, which is connected mainly with the United States.
The main objective is to present what Peyote is exactly and its connection with the Native American Church. This thesis should provide a view to this problem in the United States and its contemporary situation.
This thesis deals with the chemical compound of Peyote. The following chapters deals with the places of occurrence and history of use. The next part of this thesis is dedicated to the Native American Church and its history and important facts. The final chapter is mainly an interview with a member of the Haskell Native American Church Club Robbie Ray Wood, which provides the current view into the Native American Church society.

Role fenoménu Beatles v kultuře "Zlatých šedesátých let" v Británii

Cílem této práce je nastínit významné události a změny ve společnosti v průběhu šedesátých let ve Velké Británii a popsat vliv hudební skupiny The Beatles na toto období. Práce je strukturována do sedmi kapitol zaměřených na období před šedesátými lety a na šedesátá léta.
První a druhá kapitola podávají informace o politické a společenské situaci před šedesátými léty a zachycují počínající změny ve společnosti. Kapitoly pojednávají o padesátých letech obecně, nicméně soustřeďují se zejména na oblasti, ve kterých byly pozdější změny patrné, jako například móda nebo problém imigrace.
Následující dvě kapitoly se soustředí na skupinu The Beatles, konkrétně na její vznik, působení a fanouškovské šílenství, které vyvolala v Británii a v USA. Cílem těchto kapitol je také popsat běžný životní styl zejména mladých Britů a vliv této hudební skupiny na jeho utváření.
Pátá kapitola se věnuje liberalizaci společnosti a uvolnění osobních svobod. Zabývá se významnými změnami ve společnosti, ke kterým během šedesátých let došlo, například postavení žen ve společnosti nebo dekriminalizaci homosexuality. Následující kapitola pojednává o změnách uvedených Britskou vládou a o politických záležitostech Velké Británie.
Poslední kapitola se týká výzkumu, který byl proveden za účelem zjištění povědomí veřejnosti, zejména mladší generace, o skupině The Beatles. Výsledky výzkumu jsou přiloženy k práci jako Příloha 1. The purpose of the thesis is to outline the significant events and changes in society in the course of the Sixties in the United Kingdom and to describe the effect of the musical group The Beatles on this period. The thesis is divided into seven chapters which focus on the period before the Sixties and the Sixties itself.
The first and second chapters provide information on political and societal situation before the Sixties and capture emerging changes in society. The chapters discuss the fifties in general, but focus mainly on the areas in which the changes were later evident, such as fashion or the issue of immigration.
The following two chapters focus on the group The Beatles, specifically on the formation, the expansion and the fan frenzy which broke out in Britain. These chapters also describe common lifestyle, especially of young Brits, and the impact of this musical group on its formation.
The fifth chapter deals with the liberalization of society and the release of personal freedoms. It pursues the significant changes in the Sixties' society, such as the status of women or the decriminalisation of homosexuality. The following chapter discusses the changes introduced by the British government and political affairs of Great Britain.
The last chapter concerns a survey that has been conducted to determine the public awareness of the musical group The Beatles. The survey results are enclosed as the Appendix 1.

Tématem bakalářské práce je překlad vybraného textu o YMCA, konkrétně text zabývající se YMCA v období První republiky v Československu, s komentářem a glosářem.
Práce sestává ze čtyř hlavních částí. První část je teoretická a zabývá se fázemi překladu, překladatelskými metodami a procesem překladu obecně. Je zde také zmíněno vypracování glosáře. Druhá část je částí stěžejní, protože je tvořena vlastním překladem. Komentář, který představuje třetí část práce, analyzuje přeložený text z lexikálního, gramatického a stylistického hlediska. Čtvrtou částí je glosář, který usnadňuje čtenáři porozumění textu. The theme of the thesis is translation of a selected text dealing with YMCA, precisely a text treating the topic of YMCA in the First Czechoslovak Republic, accompanied by a commentary and glossary.
The thesis consists of four main parts. The first one is theoretical and is concerned with the translation phases, translation techniques and the process of translation in general. The elaboration of a glossary is also mentioned. The second part is the significant one, as it is made up of the translation itself. The commentary, representing the third part, analyses the translated text from lexical, morpho-syntactical and textual point of view. The fourth part, the short glossary, enabling the reader to understand the text better, follows.

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá vydělením co největšího počtu variant anglického jazyka a bližším rozebráním jejich totožností, ale i rozdílů převážně v geograficky i demograficky velkých zemích, kde je považován za jazyk mateřský. Vzhledem k tématu se však hlouběji práce zabývá analýzou angličtiny používané v Austrálii, na Novém Zélandě a také analýzou angličtiny australských domorodců. Důraz je u těchto třech diskutovaných variant kladen na jejich původ a vývoj od konce 18. století, avšak také na jejich praktické používání, unikátní slovní zásobu nebo odlišnosti ve výslovnosti. Práce rovněž obsahuje kratší kapitolu, která se zabývá životem průměrného Australana. Část této práce je věnována praktickému rozboru několika vybraných denně používaných australských slangových výrazů a tomu, co jaké míry jsou s nimi seznámeni čeští rodilí mluvčí. This bachelor thesis deals with a number of English language variants and with an analysis of their correspondence, but also of their differences predominantly in geographically and demographically large countries where English language is considered mother tongue. However, the thesis is centred on an analysis of English language that is used in Australia, New Zealand and by Australian Aborigines. The emphasis concerning these three discussed variants is put on their origin and development since the end of the 18th century, but also on their practical usage, unique vocabulary or differences in pronunciation. One of shorter chapters also provides a look at a life of an average Australian. A part of this thesis is dedicated to a practical analysis of several chosen every-day-used Australian slang words and the awareness of such words among native Czech speakers.
