Films of Metal Nanoparticles Deposited on Semiconductors by Electrophoresis: Technology and Characterization

Layers of nanoparticles in micelle enclosures were deposited on InP substrates by electrophoresis from isooctane colloid solutions containing Pd or Ag nanoparticles. The layers were investigated by SIMS, low-temperature photoluminescence spectroscopy and topography, absorption spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy and sensitivity to hydrogen. Photoluminescence of InP was enhanced by the layers of Pd or Ag nanoparticles. Schottky barriers made on the n-type InP with layers containing Pd nanoparticles showed significant sensitivity to hydrogen in contrast to those containing Ag nanoparticles. GROWTH OF InP CRYSTALS WITH RARE-EARTH ELEMENTS

We report on the influence of rare earth (RE) elements (Pr, Er, and Dy) addition during vertical Bridgman low pressure synthesis on the properties of InP crystals. The temperature dependent Hall measurement and low temperature photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy were employed to study the changes in electrical and optical properties of the crystals. The observed changes are attributed to the gettering effect of REs caused by the high affinity of REs towards shallow impurities in InP. We focus on the characterization of InP and InGaAsP layers prepared by liquid phase epitaxy with rare-earth admixtures. We applied photoluminescence spectroscopy (PL), capacitance-voltage measurements, and secondary ion mass spectroscopy in order to explain: (i) the gettering effect and conductivity crossover of InP layers for Pr treated samples, (ii) narrowing of the PL and elecroluminescent spectra of the active InGaAsP region of a double-heterostructure LED. Measurement of electrical and mechanical oscillations of yeast cells membrane in acoustic frequency range

The paper describes the measurement of electric activity of yeast cells at frequencies around 1 kHz and of mechanical vibrations of cell membrane. Synchronized and non-synchronized tubulin mutants of yeast cells were measured. The paper includes a description of the laboratory equipment with a platinum wire point sensor and a spectrum analyzer. Growth of InP crystals for radiation detectors and other application

Bulk InP single crystals were grown by Czochralski method. Various dopants were added to the melt to obtain single crystals suitable for radiation detectors and other application. The intentionally doped of InP crystals were characterized by measurements of resistivity and Hall coefficient. Prototype detectors were prepared and evaluated by spectral detection of alpha particles and x-rays. Application of speech recognition and rhyme tests for assessement of Czech speech processing systems

Speech intelligibility is the most important parameter of speech quality. In the contribution a new objective intelligibility assessment of speech processing algorithms, e.g., speech coding, synthesis, enhancement, conversion, is proposed. It is based on automatic speech recognition of rhyme tests. The idea is illustrated by comparison with listening evaluation of Czech rhyme tests and is applied for intelligibility assessment of Czech text-to-speech system and voice conversion. Srozumitelnost řeči je nejdůležitější ukazatel kvality řeči. V příspěvku je popsán návrh nového objektivního hodnocení srozumitelnosti algoritmů pro zpracování řeči, např. kódování, syntézy, zvýrazňování a konverse řeči. Je založen na automatickém rozpoznávání rýmových testů. Myšlenka je ilustrována porovnáním s poslechovým hodnocením českých rýmových testů a je použita na hodnocení srozumitelnosti českého systému pro převod textu na řeč a pro konversi hlasu.
