2012 - anglický Byla studována schopnost divokých sýkor rozpoznávat mezi stejně zbarvenou chutnou a nechutnou kořistí. Důraz byl kladen na vizuální vlastnosti kořisti jiné než zbarvení, to znamená tvar nohou, tykadel nebo způsob pohybu. Pro vytvoření přirozenějších podmínek byly použity tři různé typy experimentu. Kořist byla ptákům předkládána buď současně, nebo střídavě. Navíc byl sledován vliv kořisti na učení a paměť predátorů opakovaným předložením kořisti čtrnáctkrát po sobě v krátké době a také zopakováním experimentu po týdnu. The ability of wild caught great tits (Parus major) to discriminate between equally coloured edible (roach - Blaptica dubia) and inedible prey (firebug - Pyrrhocoris apterus) was tested with respect to other visual traits (shape of legs, antennae,means of locomotion). To simulate more natural conditions, three different experiment types were carried out. Prey was presented either alternately (first roach or firebug) or simultaneously. Additionally, the effect of learning and memory was tested by the use of trial repetition during one session, and session repetition after one week. 2015 - anglický Diplomová práce se zabývá výrazy komentářů sportovních událostí, a také výrazy použitími sportovními komentátory během sportovních přenosů. Práce se zaměřuje na lexikologickou stránku sportovních komentářů. Teoretická část podává krátké shrnutí sportovní žurnalistiky, ale hlavní část je věnována významu. V této části jsou prezentovány různé přístupy k významu, společně s definicí a rozdělením významu. Dále jsou zde vysvětleny změny ve významu a jeho rozšíření, následované definicí polysémie, homonymie a jejich rozlišení. The diploma thesis deals with the speech of sport commentaries and expressions used by sport commentators during sport broadcast. The thesis focuses on the lexicological level of their speech. The theoretical part at first presents a short summary of language of sport journalism and then the major part of the theoretical part is dedicated to meaning. Several different approaches to meaning are presented in this part as well as definition of meaning itself. Theoretical part also defines semantic change and it focuses on polysemy and homonymy and their distinction. The practical part is dedicated to the occurrence of polysemous and homonymous words among arbitrary chosen sport terms. The diploma thesis should contribute to the further study of the language of sport commentaries. The thesis should also be useful for the scientific and public society and it should serve as a link between those two areas. A CLOCKWORK ORANGE: THE SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPLICATIONS OF MUSIC IN BURGESS'S NOVEL AND ITS PRESENTATION IN KUBRICK'S FILM ADAPTATION

2019 - anglický Tato diplomová práce si klade za cíl analyzovat význam a vliv hudby na román A Clockwork Orange a porovnat její roli ve stejnojmenném filmovém ztvárnění. Autorem románu je britský spisovatel a skladatel Anthony Burgess, jehož dílo inspirovalo amerického režiséra Stenleye Kubricka ke ztvárnění stejnojmenné filmové adaptace. V první části se tato práce zabývá životem autora románu a zejména pak tím, jaký vliv na něj měla hudba. Dále se zabývá vztahem hudby k člověku obecněji, hudby k literatuře a konceptem hudby v širším kontextu. Hlavní část práce pak analyzuje užití a funkci hudby v románu samotném, interpretuje román se zřetelem k hudbě a v neposlední řadě porovnává pojetí hudby v románu a filmovém ztvárnění. This diploma thesis seeks to provide a thorough analysis of the significance and implications of music in the novel A Clockwork Orange and compare it to the role of music in the film adaptation based on this novel. Anthony Burgess, the author of the novel was an English writer and composer, whose work inspired an American film director Stanley Kubrick to make a film adaptation of the novel. The first part of this thesis deals with the life of the author of the novel, focusing mainly on the influence of music on his life. The thesis further explores the relation between music and man, music and literature, and examines the concept of music in general. The crucial part of the thesis analyses the use and function of music in the novel, provides the interpretation of the novel in terms of music and lastly, it compares the concept of music in the novel with the film adaptation. Measuring authenticity of dialogues: English textbooks and sitcom scripts

2023 - anglický Tato diplomová práce zjišťuje míru autentičnosti modelových dialogů v učebnicích anglického jazyka a scénářů situačních komedií. Jejím cílem je prokázat, zda scénáristé situačních komedií předkládají autentičtější dialogy než autoři učebnic anglického jazyka. Teoretická část je věnována procesu komunikace, jejím modelům a kanálům. Dále je ve stručnosti popsán pragmatický aspekt sociální interakce a je vyzdvižena klíčová role kontextu při procesu komunikace. Pozornost je také věnovaná kolokacím a žánru situační komedie. V praktické části je představena analýza nasbíraných dialogů ze čtyř situačních komedií a učebnic angličtiny pro pokročilé uživatele (úroveň C1-C2). Jsou zvoleny dva sitcomy od britských tvůrců a dva od amerických, které jsou srovnány s britskými a americkými učebnicemi angličtiny (CAE a TOEFL). Výzkum se soustředí na nejčastěji se vyskytující podstatná jména a jejich kolokace. Výsledky výzkumu jsou následně také porovnány s národními korpusy anglické a americké mluvené angličtiny. Výsledek diplomové práce ukazuje, že situační komedie i učebnice pro pokročilé uživatele angličtiny zahrnují autentické dialogy. This diploma thesis measures the authenticity of model dialogues in English textbooks for advanced learners and conversations occurring in situation comedies. The theoretical part focuses on the communication process, its models and channels. Subsequently, context is presented as well as its importance in speech. Attention is then paid to collocations as well as to classification of the genre of situation comedy. The practical part presents the research of sitcom and textbooks dialogues. The data were collected from four sitcoms (two of British and American origin) and CAE and TOEFL textbooks. The analysis concentrates on the most frequent nouns and their collocations. The findings are then compared, and the most frequent expressions are studied with the help of national corpora of British and American spoken English. V teoretické části autorka popisuje všechny důležité aspekty výslovnosti, faktory, které výslovnost ovlivňují a také různé přístupy k výuce výslovnosti. Dále charakterizuje problematické hlásky a uvádí techniky vhodné pro odstranění případných problémů. V praktické části autorka hodnotí, jakou pozici zastává výuka výslovnosti v některých učebnicích anglického jazyka a jaké typy cvičení jsou nejčastěji používány. Stěžejní částí je analýza výslovnostních chyb žáků na druhém stupni základní školy, srovnání s chybami žáků na prvním stupni a navržení vhodných cvičení pro odstranění nejčastějších problémů. This diploma thesis deals with the most frequent errors in English pronunciation that are made by Czech students. In the theoretical part the authoress describes all the important aspects of pronunciation, factors that influence pronunciation and also some approaches to the teaching of pronunciation. Then she describes the problem sounds and some correction techniques. In the practical part the authoress evaluates what is the position of teaching pronunciation in some textbooks and which types of exercises are the most frequent. The essential part form the analysis of pronunciation errors made by pupils at middle school, the comparison with mistakes of children at elementary school and the proposal of activities that may be helpful for the removal of possible problems.
