A case study comparing discursive strategies employed by a child at both pre and early school years as they seek to make sense of the world that surrounds them

Tato diplomová práce si klade za cíl analyzovat narativní interakci mezi dítětem (Natálkou) a dospělou osobou s ohledem na diskurzivní strategie v kontextu představivosti a kreativity. Ve své práci jsem použila metodu konverzační analýzy, kterou jsem následně aplikovala na transkripční přepisy audio nahrávek, jež byly pořízeny během dvou časových obdobích: v roce 2018 a na přelomu roku 2020 při interakci mezi Natálkou a mnou. Analýza dat odhalila, že v repertoáru dítěte byly přítomny následující praktiky: (1) spojování dvou či více epizod ve vyprávění, (2) kladení otázek, (3) oddělování jednotlivých témat a (4) použití dalších diskurzivních elementů, konkrétně humoru, zveličování či nadsázky a vyjednávacích taktik. První část práce se podrobně věnuje diskurzivním praktikám a vysvětluje rozdíly mezi představivostí a kreativitou. Tato případová studie následně mapuje jakým způsobem se v průběhu dvou let vyvinulo použití zkoumaných strategií a charakterizuje, jak tyto změny reflektují kognitivní vývoj dítěte. The present thesis aims to analyse a narrative interaction between a child (Natálka) and an adult with regard to discursive strategies employed in the context of imagination and creativity. I applied the method of Conversation Analysis to the examination of the transcribed audio recordings that were taken in 2018 and at the turn of 2020 during the interaction between Natálka and myself. An analysis of the data identified that in the child's repertoire the following practices were present: (1) linking two or more episodes in a conversation, (2) asking questions, (3) separating individual topics, and (4) using other discourse elements; concretely humour, exaggeration, and negotiation techniques. The first part of the thesis sets out the discursive practices examined and argues for the insights these provide into the imagination and creativity of a child. The analysis, which is undertaken in the form of a case study, subsequently maps the use of the selected strategies developed over two years of Natálka's life and characterises how these changes reflect the child's cognitive development.

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá studiem písní a jejich realizací ve výuce anglického jazyka na druhém stupni základních škol nebo na nižším stupni gymnázií. Práce je rozdělena na dvě části teoretickou a praktickou. V teoretické části se nejprve zabývám definicí hudby, kde popisuji její čtyři základní elementy, ze kterých je hudba složena. Dále objasňuji využití písní ve výuce a metodiky spojené právě s hudbou. Poté se zde zabývám také vlivem hudby na studenty a její výhody i nevýhody spojené právě s výukou anglického jazyka. V souladu s těmito teoretickými předpoklady jsem vytvořila devět plánů vyučovacích hodin, které rozvíjejí gramatické struktury, slovní zásobu, či jsou vhodné k porozumění daného tématu. Nejprve v každé kapitole nastiňuji biografii skladatele a blíže přibližuji probíranou tématiku. Dále jsou poté vytvořeny učební plány, které rozvíjejí lingvistické dovednosti a probouzejí aktivitu u dětí. This diploma thesis deals with using songs in English language teaching at lower secondary schools. The thesis comprises of two parts a theoretical and practical section. In the theoretical part I define the term music and its four basic elements. The teaching methodologies and song activities are also included in this part. The influence of classical music on students and its advantages and disadvantages are associated with the learning of English language. Based on these theoretical findings I prepared nine lesson plans with activities focussing on grammatical structures, vocabulary or comprehension of the lesson topic. The composer's biography and some brief information are outlined in the beginning of every chapter. Subsequently the suggested lesson plans exploit the lyrics of the classical music which develop the linguistics skills and enhance the interest of the children.

Politické tendence ve vybrané romantické poezii

Tato práce se zabývá analýzou vybrané anglické romantické poezie z hlediska politických postojů autorů. V práci jsou rozebrána a zasazena do kontextu dobových politických událostí díla více básníků tohoto období. Hlavními tématy jsou politická pravice a levice, konflikt monarchismu a republikánství a kritika institucionalizovaného náboženství tak, jak jsou nazírány romantickými básníky. V případech, kdy se stejnou otázkou zabývá více autorů, jsou jejich přístupy porovnány. This thesis analyses selected poetry of English Romantic poets in terms of their political opinions. The works of various poets are scrutinised and put into the context of important political events of the period. The main topics discussed are the left-right political spectrum, the conflict between monarchism and republicanism, and the critique of institutionalised religion in how the Romantic poets perceive them. In cases where more poets show interest in the same question, their ideas are compared.

Tick-borne encephalitis virus (TBEV) is an important human pathogen and as of now, there are no specific therapeutics to combat this disease. In vitro and in cell models are essential in studying the disease and in the pursuit of novel therapeutics. This thesis deals with the design and production of two genetically encoded cleavage reporters of TBEV NS2B-NS3 protease activity. The reporters were produced in E. coli and tested with recombinant NS2B-NS3 protease, as well as produced in mammalian cell lines and analyzed for fluorescence upon infection with TBEV. V této inovativní studii bude student zkoumat filmy a hry, které vykazují intertextuální vztah s vlivnou filmovou sérií Kmotr ze 70. let minulého století. Jak hry, tak filmy budou studovány metodou specifické aplikace teorií intertextuality, které budou prezentovány a aplikovány. Rozmanitost použitých žánrů poslouží jako příklad stále se rozšiřujících žánrů textů hodných vážného akademického zkoumání a analýzy. In this innovative study, the student will examine films and games which exhibit an intertextual relationship with the influential Godfather film series from the 1970s. Both games and films will be under study specifically applying theories of intertextuality which will be both presented and applied. The variety of genres approached will serve as an example of the ever expanding genres of texts worthy of rigorous academic investigation and analysis.

Práce se pokusí definovat prostor ve vybraných románech současného britského autora Grahama Swifta. Teoretická část práce nejprve nastíní společenskou, politickou a literární situaci 20. století a představí literární prostředky používané v moderní, postmoderní a současné britské literatuře. Dále se práce zabývá změnou vnímání prostoru, teorií postmoderního chronotopu a vedle Grahama Swifta jsou představeni i další nejvýznamnější autoři současné britské literatury. Jádrem práce je literárněvědná analýza prostoru a krajiny románů Země vod (1983) a Mimo tento svět (1988). Cílem práce je porovnání použití postmoderních prvků a analýza vlivu historie a krajiny na osud hrdinů vybraných románů. The thesis aims to reflect on space in selected novels by contemporary British writer Graham Swift. The theoretical part of the thesis will first outline the social, political and literary situation of the 20th century and introduce the literary tools used in modern, postmodern and Contemporary British literature. Furthermore, the thesis deals with the change in the perception of space, the theory of postmodern chronotope, and besides Graham Swift, other most important writers of Contemporary British literature are introduced. The core of the thesis is a literary analysis of the space and landscape of the novels Waterland (1983) and Out of This World (1988). The aim is to compare the usage of postmodern elements and analyse the influence of history and landscape on the fate of the heroes of selected novels.

Ve své diplomové práci, nazvané Díla z hlediska afroamerické Northward Migration ve 20. století budu analyzovat knihy afroamerické literatury. Tyto knihy se soustředí především na migraci z jihu na sever v rámci Spojených států amerických, která následovala po první světové válce. Práce nejprve zrekapituluje historii afroamerické migrace - její příčiny a důsledky. Dále bude analyzován motiv severu jako "země zaslíbená" a jak postavy z děl ve většině případech nedokázaly žít svůj "americký sen". Nakonec bude práce věnovat pozornost komparaci rasismu vzhledem k černé rase na jihu a na severu USA. In my diploma thesis called Black Novels on the 20th Century African American Northward Migration I am going to examine the novel in African American literature with a particular focus on the migration from the South to the North inside the United States following the First World War. At first the work will recapitulate the history of this African American migration - its causes and its effects. The motif of the North as the "promised land" and how, in most cases, migrant characters in these works experienced this form of the "American Dream" myth will be analyzed. Finally, the racism by whites of the South will be compared to the racism by whites in the North.

Tato studie aplikuje molekulární a morfologické metody k identifikování larválních a dospělích stádií motolic čeledi Strigeidae. Mezihostitelé a definitivní hostitelé byli nasbíráni z 11 sladkovodních jezer a podrobeni zkoumání na identifikaci infekce. Bylo nalezeno 7 druhu na základe fylogenetických analýz cox1 a 28S genu. Podařilo se objasnit životní cyklus druhu Apatemon gracilis na Islandu. This study applies molecular and morphological procedures to identify larval and adult stages of trematodes of the family Strigeidae in Iceland. Intermediate hosts (snails and fishes) and definitive host (birds) from 11 freshwater lakes were sampled and examined for the presence of trematodes. Recovered species were subjected to study of morphology, sequencing and phylogenetic analyses. A total of seven species of three genera were identified via phylogenetical analyses based on mitochondrial (cox1) and nuclear (28S) sequences, and morphological data. The life-cycle of Apatemon gracilis was fully elucidated in Iceland, and those of Australapatemon burti and Australapatemon minor in part (cercariae and adults). The relationship of Cotylurus sp. 'Lin. 1I' and Cotylurus sp. 'Lin. 2I' could not be resolved.

Malgré le développement des formations interculturelles en Allemagne depuis les années 80 (Erll & Gymnich, 2017, p. 152) et l'importance de la compétence interculturelle comme compétence clé aujourd'hui (Erll & Gymnich, 2017, p. 6), il reste difficile pour les individus ne provenant pas de culture allemande de cotoyer des Allemands dans un environnement professionnel (Erll & Gymnich, 2017, p. 103). Le but de ce mémoire est de comprendre le comportement allemand dans un contexte professionnel, ainsi que l'impact de ce comportement sur les expatriés, notamment car il crée des difficultés pour ces derniers. En outre, l'étude menée rév?le certaines attentes ? la fois des travailleurs allemands vis-?-vis des expatriés mais aussi des expatriés qui travaillent avec des Allemands. Une étude qualitative a été menée d'une part avec deux expertes de l'interculturalité professionnelle, et d'autre part avec cinq expatriés travaillant en Allemagne avec des Allemands. L'étude vise ? proposer des recommandations pour améliorer les relations dans des équipes de travail composées d'Allemands et de non-Allemands. Even though intercultural trainings have been developed in Germany since the 1980s (Erll & Gymnich, 2017, p. 152) and interculturality is a key competence at the present time (Erll & Gymnich, 2017, p. 6), it remains difficult for people from a non-German cultural background to work with German employees in their work environment (Erll & Gymnich, 2017, p. 103). The aim of this thesis is to understand the behaviour of German employees in work environments and to analyse how this behaviour impacts expatriates in positive or negative ways as well as which expectations German and non-German employees have in these contexts. The study is based on a qualitative analyse realised on one hand with two German experts in the professional interculturality and on the other hand with five expat-riates that work with Germans in Germany. The study attempts to make recommenda-tions, to improve, and facilitate the relations in intercultural teams of German and non-German employees.
