The fine-scale utilization of forest edges by mammalian mesopredators related to patch size and conservation issues in Central European farmland

We found strong edge preferences for the whole community of autochthonous carnivore species in all fragments regardless the fragment size. Ideální učitel angličtiny očima žáků/The Ideal English Teacher from the Pupils' Perspective

2012 - anglický Cílem této diplomové práce je popsat, jak si žáci základní školy představují ideálního učitele anglického jazyka. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí - teoretické a empirické. Teoretická část pojednává o osobnosti učitele, profesních nárocích, komunikaci a interakci během výuky, hodnocení žáků a rozlišení typologie učitelů. Věnuje se také společenské prestiži, příčinám feminizace učitelské profese a budování autority. Závěr teoretické části rozebírá z různých pohledů, zda ideální učitel vůbec existuje. Empirická část je založena na kvalitativně orientovaném výzkumu. Žáci měli vypracovat úvahu na téma "Jak si představuješ ideálního učitele cizího jazyka?". Výpovědi jsou následně analyzovány a srovnány se stanovenými hypotézami. Výsledky výzkumu také ukazují, zda-li a jakým způsobem se liší představy žáků s ohledem na jejich věk. The aim of this thesis is to describe how basic school pupils imagine their ideal English teacher. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part discusses the teacher's personality, professional requirements, communication and interaction in the lesson, evaluation of pupils and the typology of teachers. It is also interested in the prestige, the causes of feminization of the teaching profession and the process of building up the authority. The final chapter analyses from different points of view whether an ideal English teacher really exists. The empirical part is based on a qualitative study. The pupils were asked to write an essay, called "How do you imagine the ideal teacher of a foreign language?". Their answers are analysed and compared with existing hypotheses. The results of the research also discover whether and how the pupils' ideas are different in relation to their age. 2012 - anglický Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na percepci skotských a gaelských slov rodilými mluvčími angličtiny pocházejících z Anglie. Hlavní oblastí zájmu je zjistit, zdali Angličané tato slova znají a rozumějí jim a jaké konotace pro ně tato slova mají. Teoretická část obsahuje stručný přehled vývoje skotštiny a gaelštiny, současnou jazykovou situaci ve Skotsku a předpoklady Angličanů při vnímání skotských a gaelských výrazů. Praktická část je založena na výzkumu pomocí dotazníků. Obsahuje kvantitativní a kvalitativní zhodnocení výsledků, které byly získány od dotazovaných. Výsledky výzkumu jsou zpracovány do přehledných tabulek a grafů. Výsledky analýzy jsou shrnuty v závěru práce. Pro sestavení dotazníku byl vytvořen slovník vybraných skotských a gaelských výrazů, který je přiložen v příloze. This diploma thesis is focused on the perception of Scots-English and Gaelic words by native speakers of English coming from England. The principal objective is to find out whether the English know and understand these words and what connotations the words have for them. The theoretical part includes a brief overview of the development of the Scottish and Gaelic language, the present linguistic situation in Scotland and assumptions about the perception of Scots-English and Gaelic words by the English. The practical part is based on research carried out by means of questionnaires. It contains a quantitative and qualitative assessment of the results which were obtained from the English respondents. The results of the research are represented in charts and graphs. Finally, the results of the research are interpreted and analyzed. The thesis contains a dictionary of Scottish and Gaelic expressions which was compiled for the creation of the questionnaire and is enclosed in the appendix. Despite the high level of public concern and major investments during the last few decades for conservation, wild tigers continue to be under grave threat, and their preservation now requires, more than ever before, using reliable ecological knowledge for their conservation interventions. In this dissertation, I investigated various factors that affect on tiger conservation in this park: population status of prey, dietary patterns of tiger and its impact on sympatric carnivores (e.g., leopard) and increasing human-wildlife conflicts, effects of habitat structures and human disturbances on prey and predator species abundance and distribution.
