NMR Metabolomics Study of the Association between Pancreatic Cancer and Diabetes Mellrtus.

In our study, 1H NMR metabolomics was employed to plasma samples of pancreatic cancer patients, individuals with long-term diabetes mellitus type 2 (lasting more than 5 years) and healthy controls. The NMR analyses were followed by establishing a statistical model based on principal component analysis and discriminant analysis. The aim was to discover differences between these groups and to define a potential biomarker panel. The statistical evaluation of metabolomics-based profiles provided high values of sensitivity and specificity. Subsequently, plasma samples of the risk group, specifically patients with recently diagnosed diabetes mellitus with a duration of <3 years (possible T3cDM), were analysed and the possibility of PC development was predicted. The achieved results showed strong potential of 1H NMR metabolomics to establish a biomarker panel that would facilitate the early diagnosis of PC and the possibility identify diabetic individuals, who are at risk of developing PC. As the dialytic tubing is impermeable for big molecules of receptor, the anions crossing the barrier of dialytic tubing to form complex with the receptor stay entrapped inside and can be removed from the solution. The methodology aims at presenting new and economically efficient approaches to assessment of spatial heterogeneity of selected properties of bare soils. There are three key features the authors paid attention: 1/the simplicity in usage with keeping sufficient accuracy, 2/data availability, 3/economic aspects allowing application to many users. The methodology covers two complementary parts. The first one gives an overview of laboratory and field soil spectroscopy. It is followed by a detail description of practical application of airborne hyperspectral and satellite multispectral data in assessment of spatial heterogeneity of bare soils. All applied methods have been developed and tested on scale of medium size farm. Cílem metodiky je prezentace nových a ekonomicky efektivních metod a postupů vhodných k hodnocení plošné homogenity vybraných půdních vlastností pozemků jako základu pro optimalizaci výživného režimu plodin. Hlavní důraz byl kladen na reálnou aplikovatelnost metodiky, tedy: 1/přiměřenou jednoduchost proveditelnosti při zachování dostatečné spolehlivosti výsledků pro uživatele na úrovni agronoma specialisty, 2/dostupnost potřebných dat, 3/ekonomický aspekt uplatnění pro široký okruh uživatelů. Metodicky je uživatel seznámen s principy laboratorní a pozemní spektroskopie půd a pak jsou uvedeny postupy využití leteckých hyperspektrálních a satelitních multispektrálních dat k hodnocení plošné heterogenity vybraných půdních vlastností. Všechny postupy byly ověřeny na plošné a provozní úrovni středního zemědělského podniky. A method for the use of nanofiber scaffolds and stem cells for the treatment of severe damages of the ocular surface

The method describes a new therapeutic approach for the treatment of severe ocular injuries in veterinary medicine. The protocol is based on a cultivation of stem cells and their transfer using nanofiber scaffolds onto damaged ocular surface. This method can be used in the cases when other available treatment options are not sufficient or cannot be used. Metodika popisuje nový léčebný postup pro léčbu závažných poškození očního povrchu ve veterinární medicíně. Postup je založen na kultivaci kmenových buněk a na jejich přenosu pomocí nanovlákenných nosičů na poškozený oční povrch. Metoda je využitelná v případech, kde již jiné dostupné formy léčby nejsou úspěšné. Influence of Surface Treatment of Thin-Film Composite Membrane on Separation of Carbon Dioxide from Biogas.

The effect of the various wetting procedure on the membrane performance was studied [1]. Spraying is clearly more efficient than spreading water on the top of the membrane with a brush and results in higher methane purity. Spraying ensures a more uniform distribution of the water on the skin layer of the membrane, leading to much higher CO2 permeation through the membrane and higher CH4 content in the retentate stream. The trend of reduction of landfilling can lead, especially in areas with low population density, to the need to build new waste-to-energy capacities in the form of small units. However, flue gas treatment in small scale has to be sufficiently simple to decrease capital costs and allow the construction of such facilities. For that reason, the possibility of one-step dry flue gas treatment at compromise conditions was investigated as well as the limitation of flue gas composition.\n\n Trend omezování skládkování může vést, například v oblastech nízkou hustotou zalidnění, k nutnosti vzniku malých zařízení na energetické využití odpadu. V případě malých zařízení je však nutné, aby byl systém čištění spalin dostatečně jednoduchý a náklady na něj nebránily vzniku takových zařízení. Proto byla zkoumána možnost suchého jednokrokového čištění spalin a limitace vycházející ze složení spalin a kompromisních podmínek čištění.
