2018 - Czech Parisian Odile Decq (1955) searches tirelessly and relentlessly for a simple yet creative solution to architectural projects that blend in design, art and urbanism. The original handwriting gave her a number of international awards, such as the Golden Lion, as part of the Venetian Biennale of Architecture. The Odile DECQ / Horizons Studio can be visited at the Art House in Ostrava until June 3. Pařížanka Odile Decq (1955) neúnavně a neúprosně hledá prostá a přitom tvůrčí řešení architektonických projektů, které prolíná design, umění i urbanismus. Originální rukopis jí vynesl řadu mezinárodních ocenění, například Zlatého lva v rámci benátského bienále architektury. 2018 - Czech The Ostrava Gallery has more than 2,300 paintings in its collections. Some of them belong to an art collection of foreign origin. It also includes 150 artworks of Russian, especially realistic and modern art from the end of the 19th and the first half of the 20th century. More than 30 of them, mainly paintings and drawings as well as larger formats, will be presented at the exhibition Song of Soul / Russian Art from the collections of the Gallery of Fine Arts in Ostrava (GVUO), whose curator is the director of the institution. It will start on Tuesday 31 July at 5 pm and you will be able to see it in the Art House of Ostrava until 9 September. Ostravská galerie má ve svých sbírkách přes 2 300 maleb. Část z nich patří do umělecké sbírky se zahraničním původem. Její součástí je také 150 uměleckých děl ruského, především realistického a moderního umění z období konce 19. a první poloviny 20. století. Více než 30 z nich, převážně malby a kresby i větších formátů, bude představeno na výstavě Píseň duše / ruské umění ze sbírek Galerie výtvarného umění v Ostravě (GVUO), jejímž kurátorem je ředitel instituce. Zahájena bude v úterý 31. července v 17 hodin a v ostravském Domě umění si ji můžete prohlédnout až do 9. září. 2018 - Czech Two art publications accompany exhibitions at the Gallery of Fine Arts in Ostrava (GVUO). The first one, abstraction creation / art non figuratif 1932-1936, is a reprint of the 1973 album of the same name, supplemented by the text of Jiří Jůže, the curator of the exhibition of the same name. Second publication called Norbert Grund pinx. - Johann Balzer sc. presents Grund's paintings and Balzer's graphics, which can be seen at Norbert Grund fecit / Jan Balzer sculpsit. Both exhibitions can be seen in the Ostrava House of Art until March 25th. Dvě výtvarné publikace doprovázejí výstavy v Galerii výtvarného umění v Ostravě (GVUO). První s názvem abstraction creation / art non figuratif 1932–1936 je reprintem stejnojmenného alba z roku 1973, doplněná o text Jiřího Jůzy, kurátora stejnojmenné výstavy. Druhá publikace s názvem Norbert Grund pinx. – Johann Balzer sc. představuje Grundovy malby a Balzerovy grafiky, které jsou k vidění na výstavě Norbert Grund fecit / Jan Balzer sculpsit. Obě výstavy je možné si až do 25. března prohlédnout v ostravském Domě umění. 2018 - Czech Until Sunday, January 7, visitors to the Gallery of Fine Arts in Ostrava (GVUO) can see the work of architect and internationally acclaimed stage designer Vlastislav Hofman (1884-1964) in the Ostrava House of Art. The author's architectural designs, paintings, graphics, print mats, porcelain, furniture, crematorium model in Moravská Ostrava, film screenings and archival documents are exhibited. The exhibition has been reviewed by over 11,000 visitors. Už jen do neděle 7. ledna si mohou návštěvníci Galerie výtvarného umění v Ostravě (GVUO) prohlédnout tvorbu architekta a mezinárodně oceňovaného scénografa Vlastislava Hofmana (1884–1964) v ostravském Domě umění. Vystaveny jsou autorovy architektonické návrhy, malby, grafiky, tiskové matrice, porcelán, nábytek, model krematoria v Moravské Ostravě, filmová projekce i dokumentační materiály z archivů. Výstavu si dosud prohlédlo přes jedenáct tisíc návštěvníků. 2018 - Czech Until Sunday, June 10, you can see the photos and sculptures of Ivan Pinkava and Elias Dolejší, the architectural realization of Odile Decq and the gift of Emanuel Křenka in the Ostrava House of Art. The exhibition will replace the presentation of the new visual style of GVUO, which was prepared for the gallery by Robert V. Novák and Zuzana Burgrová, the project Who is the winner ?, which accompanies the sporting event of the year called IAAF Continental Cup at the Ostrava 2018 athletics and in cooperation with the Faculty of Arts of the Ostrava University Diploma 2018. They will be started gradually in the week of June 18 in the Ostrava House of Art. Už jen do neděle 10. června si můžete prohlédnout fotografie a plastiky Ivana Pinkavy a Eliáše Dolejšího, architektonické realizace Studia Odile Decq a dar Emanuela Křenka v ostravském Domě umění. Expozice nahradí prezentace nového vizuálního stylu GVUO, který pro galerii připravil Robert V. Novák a Zuzana Burgrová, projekt Kdo je vítězem?, který doprovází sportovní událost roku s názvem IAAF Kontinentální pohár v atletice Ostrava 2018, a ve spolupráci s Fakultou umění Ostravské univerzity Diplomky 2018. Zahájeny budou postupně v týdnu od 18. června v ostravském Domě umění. 2018 - Czech Where now? What now? What direction do I want to go? What will I be doing? Similar phrases are chasing in the head most likely for all students who finish studying. The same questions have been asked, and perhaps still, by 27 students - artists who have mastered their master's degree at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Ostrava. Their latest production is presented at the 2018 Diploma 2018 exhibition at the Art House in Ostrava and at the Laboratory Gallery until 22 July. Paintings, graphics, drawings, book design, video performances, sculptures, installations and multimedia across all artistic studios can be seen. Kam dál? Co teď? Jakým směrem chci jít? Čím se budu živit? Podobné fráze se honí v hlavě nejspíše všem studentům, kteří končí studium. Stejné otázky si letos kladlo, a možná ještě stále klade, i 27 studentů – umělců, kteří obhajobou své diplomové práce završili magisterské studium na Fakultě umění Ostravské univerzity. Jejich nejnovější tvorba je až do 22. července představena na výstavě Diplomky 2018 v ostravském Domě umění a v Galerii Laboratoř. K vidění jsou malby, grafiky, kresby, knižní design, videoperformance, plastiky, instalace i multimédia napříč všemi uměleckými ateliéry. 2018 - Czech Gold medal for stage design at the International Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Art in 1925 in Paris. Is it possible to summarize the abilities of the all-talented artist Vlastislav Hofman? Hofman was primarily an architect, but his relationship to avant-garde streams also interfered with his painting, graphic, scenographic and design work. The exhibition at the Gallery of Fine Arts in Ostrava, which was created in cooperation with the Institute of Art History, will present it in full and unforgettable even the only cubo-expressionist crematorium in Czechoslovakia designed and realized together with František Mencl in Moravská Ostrava between 1923 and 1925. Zlatá medaile za scénografii na Mezinárodní výstavě moderního dekorativního a průmyslového umění v roce 1925 v Paříži. Je možné jednodušeji shrnout schopnosti všestranně talentovaného umělce Vlastislava Hofmana? Hofman byl především architekt, ale jeho vztah k avantgardním proudům se prolínal i v jeho malířské, grafické, scénografické a designérské tvorbě. Výstava v Galerii výtvarného umění v Ostravě, která vznikla ve spolupráci s Ústavem dějin umění, ho představí v celé šíři a neopomene ani jediné kuboexpresionistické krematorium v Československu, které Hofman navrhnul a realizoval spolu s Františkem Menclem v Moravské Ostravě v letech 1923 až 1925.
