Stress analysis of vaults in the building of the Masaryk´s University Centre in Telč

The report summarizes the results of local surveys, expert opinions and analysis concerning the vaults in the building of the former Jesuit dormitory in Telč on Zachariáš Square in Hradec no. 2. The investigation was induced by the lack of inputs data for the assessment of the vaults for a new purpose: the establishment of a public library combined with a gallery. The performed FEM calculations estimated the stresses in the vaults of the room 0.22A and do not replace the static calculation, but can serve as an input information for a possible design project. Zpráva shrnuje výsledky z místních šetření, expertních posudků a výpočtů, které se týkají kleneb v objektu bývalé jezuitské koleje v Telči na náměstí Zachariáše z Hradce č.p. 2. Podmětem pro šetření byl nedostatek podkladů pro posouzení zatížitelnost kleneb pro nový účel: zřízení veřejné knihovny kombinované s galerií. Provedené výpočty MKP slouží pro odhad napjatosti klenby v místnosti 0.22Aa nenahrazují statický výpočet, ale mohou sloužit jako podklad pro eventuální zpracování podrobného statického výpočtu.

Material characterization of silicite stone and bending earth-lime mortar sampled from the archeological site below the 3rd courtyard of Prague Castle provides data on the chemical and mineralogical composition and microstructure of stone and mortar for the needs of the historic structure conservation. Materiálový rozbor opuky a zdící malty z archeologického terénu pod III. nádvořím Pražského hradu poskytuje údaje o chemickém a mineralogickém složení materiálů a jejich mikrostruktuře pro potřeby konzervace památky.

As part of the construction and technical survey, a microscopic analysis of samples of the artificial stone sample was performed using a scanning electron microscope and SEM ‐ EDS analysis. Characterization of mortars' aggregate and binder components was performed, and the binder was identified as portland cement. V rámci stavebně-technického průzkumu byl proveden mikroskopický rozbor vzorku umělého kamene s využitím skenovacího elektronového mikroskopu a SEM‐EDS analýzy. Byla provedena charakterizace plniva a složek pojiva. Analýzy prokázaly, že pojivo umělého kamene je anorganické na bázi portlandského cementu

The aim of the non-destructive survey was to determine the presence of building construction hidden under the contemporary floor. The survey confirmed the position of underground crypt and revealed no other structures. Cílem nedestruktivního průzkumu bylo zjistit přítomnost stavebních konstrukcí skrytých pod soudobou podlahou. Průzkum potvrdil polohu krypty a neodhalil žádné další konstrukce.

The aim of the survey was to assess the use of Ground Penetration Radar for the reinforcement position detection on the Ice ring restaurant – an early concrete building on Štvanice Island in Prague from 1932. For this case study a potentially critical section of a façade above the app. 16 m long horizontal window was selected. GPR from IDS company equipped with 2 GHz high frequency antenna was used.

Solving the moving mass problem on large finite element models with modal analysis – estimation of the discrete movement error

Solving transient dynamic problems on large finite element (FE) models using a direct integration requires a high sampling rate and therefore also considerable computing times because of the large system matrices. Movement of a mass on a FE model has to follow the discrete pattern of the FEs, and is therefore of a discrete character. This introduces an unknown\nerror into the analytical results. Applying modal analysis (MA) reduces the number of equations used in the subsequent numerical integration by orders of magnitude. Resampling of the mode shapes to the required sampling rate makes it possible to solve the moving mass problem much more quickly and quasi-continuously. The performed comparative analytical study using ANSYS and MATLAB showed that using a discrete movement on the FE mesh when solving a moving mass problem can cause a considerable error.

The generalized van der Pol equation exposed to combined harmonic and random excitation can exhibit a quasi-periodic response. The existence of this particular type of response depends on the detuning between the driving and resonance frequencies. The response is stationary for a ”small” or ”large” value of detuning. The contribution specifies in detail the detuning interval in which the quasi-periodic response occurs.
